Gotta say, I am enjoying the current Nvidia fiasco with the melting GPU adapters. It's like the mid 2000s all over again.

Gotta say, I am enjoying the current Nvidia fiasco with the melting GPU adapters. It's like the mid 2000s all over again. Absolutely. Nvidia has been on my shit list for a long time, but kept getting my business because "superior product". It may still be the slightly superior product, but if the risk/reward is so high that's not a dick dance I want to jig. The gap is closing, competition is coming. My last Nvidia GPU is in my system now, and it's good. 3070 should get 10 years, like my 970 almost did. That 970 is now in someone else's machine playing 1080p like a king... it was a good card too. Change, nothing stays the same, Unchained and you hit the ground running.

The only Nvidia card that I had that was junk was a 680 (made by ASUS) because the fans crapped out in six months. Then I sent it for repairs and ASUS sent to down toMexico where it was promptly lost and then returned two months after the fact....only still not fixed. So as soon as I could I bough the 760 Dual FTW 2 with ACX (my first EVGA gpu) and I bought EVGA ever since. My current card (2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming) is EVGA, and it unfortunately will be the last EVGA card I ever own (for reasons we all know). When I go to rebuild in the Fall of 2025....I am eyeing AORUS for my next GPU, but it will be hard to let this current rig go because thus far (playing 4K at 60 or near sixty FPS) all settings maxed out on most games....This Z490 build has been really good and has played just about everything I throw at it (Jedi SUrvivor, Fallen Order, Zero Dawn, ANTHEM, Tomb Raider TRilogy all at 4K/60) Only 1 recent game have I had to turn down the Graphics or tweak them any.. Forbidden West, but the game still looks amazing so I'm happy. But as Deleted (sort of) said....the longer you can run a system, the better. If it continues to play anything you throw at it- who cares if it's a decade old- and if the parts are in good order and experiencing no issues...keep it till it dies. Only reason I'm even considering a rebuild is because by October of 2025 Windows 10 will be EOL and any PC still running Windows 10 will be left unpatched/unsupported....which isn't good.

My day was going pretty well....This afternoon I started playing Ghost of Tsushima again, picking up where I left off. I had only been playing for about 15 minutes and I was engaged in some heated combat- pressing RB, LB, different buttons combos and I squeezed the LT on my controller when suddenly *SNAP-O* I heard and felt something *snap*, and then instantly there was no tension in the LT as there was in the RT....and when I wiggled the controller around I could also hear/feel something jumbling around inside. I'm fairly certain the tension spring snapped. So I immediately saved my game where it was using KB/M, exited the game, packed up the controller...found my receipt (luckily I also had an e-copy of the receipt, and also lucky that I purchased the two-year extended warranty that covered repair-or-replacement for damages/defects) because I took it straight back to my local Best Buy...told the girl what happened...she took one press of the trigger and a little wiggle, then no questions asked, said, "If you want to send it in for repairs you can, but honestly...This brand, POWER-A, is garbage- not worth it. We get a lot of these controllers back within less than a year for this exact reason and even the supposed repairs only last six months. So, go ahead, grab another...grab any other controller you want and I'll ring it through for you. We even have some in the back, not on the shelves that I can show you..."
So this time I picked a genuine Microsoft Xbox/PC Controller- still got the two year extende warranty because who knows, right? But she said the actual legit MS Xbox branded PC Controllers are far superior to any of the third-party ones. She then rang it up...taking the 35.99 CAD value for the POS off the regular price of the new controller....And it still ran me $65.00. Of course, I didn't realize until I was walking out of the store that the new controller is wireless. Ugh. So I tried it...tried to get it set-up, and it's not working. The Xbox button just keeps flashing away and eventually after about 20 seconds, turns off. My PC won't even pick it up.
Gonna need to look into this. Any suggestions? This is why I prefer wired controllers.
Edit: After swapping out the batteries that came with the controller for ones that I knew were fresh and making two attempts to pair my new controller via Bluetooth....I got it to work sucessfully and even played Ghost for 5 minutes as a trial.....and was very happy with the results. The controller worked great! buttons and trigger responses are very fast and everyhing is working great. Made the hassel of the other POS controller I had breaking well worth the effort to return it and purchase this new one. From now on though, I am only buying genuine Microsft stuff....No more third-party brands!
Thank you to everyone for replying!

New monitor.
ASUS PG32UCDM.
32 inches of QD-OLED, 4k, 240hz goodness.
Hard as hell to get as everyone has been "out of stock" since release, but jeez, worth the wait!

I' e never been a fan of ASUS monitors (I've always thought they looked dark in comparison to other brands) or ASUS in general (Motherboards and GPUs especially, bad luck)....But I will admit that does look like a nice monitor and even I will now admit to maybe starting to give ASUS a look-see when I am in the market for a rebuild. I'm also eyeing the MSI and BENQ equialvents.

I'm also eyeing the MSI and BENQ equialvents. Asus doesn't make display panels and neither do most companies like MSI, Gigabyte, Acer, Dell/Alienware, or even Apple. So you shouldn't generalize it like that. QD-OLED panels are made by Samsung. So yeah, don't judge until you see one in person.

So after the last three weeks of getting NOWHERE with Microsoft (concerning the connectivity issues and loss of BT with the Wireless PC-Compatible Xbox One Controller I purchased about a month ago)...I finally toook it back to Best Buy and not only did they exchange it for a WIRED Controller (even though I was 2 days past the Return POlicy)- because I had returned now 2 Controllers in the last six weeks purchased from them, the girl was nice enough to add on an additional year (for a total of 3 years) to the already purchased 2 year extended warranty at absolutely no cost to me.
