Random thought - I think it is fantastic how sometimes Storm Troopers will flat out miss you. Hilarious. Nothing else does, at least, that I've noticed.

I dunno if I'm getting old but I just finished downloading this, launched it and am already exhausted. I had the same response to the 'new' Tomb Raider game. Something about these meticulously curated AAA opening pieces that introduce you to the 1) protagonist 2) tone 3) setting 4) controls just drains me, maybe especially these traversal ones. But otoh I've also never been particularly invested in Star Wars. I also downloaded the Final Cut of This War of Mine and I kiiinda wanna play that instead.
When I open the map is it gonna be full of little 3/7 collectible icons? I'm mostly here to try the combat, I've never played a Souls game or anything in that vein, what should I be expecting? I had fun many moons ago with Jedi Academy, is it kinda like that? How's the story? Will I be able to shoot lightning out of my fingers?

But otoh I've also never been particularly invested in Star Wars. I also downloaded the Final Cut of This War of Mine and I kiiinda wanna play that instead. I had fun many moons ago with Jedi Academy, is it kinda like that? How's the story? Will I be able to shoot lightning out of my fingers? Share if the Final Cut of This War of Mine has improved the game. I played it a while ago with maybe 1 or 2 DLCs, so I wonder.
The map has no collectible icons, but instead shows you locked and unlocked passageways or entrances to places you haven't explored yet (and yeah, in the upper corner informs you how many secrets and chests you have found and how many are left). The combat depends on the difficulty. Do not expect Jedi Academy, not much resemblance since this is a game that is also made for consoles and it's impossible to reach the fine control and combos required for the JA game.
You won't be shooting lightning. There are several Force powers that you can get, upgrade and mix (Slow, Push, Pull) plus a double jump, droid abilities and special attacks. Defensively you have a Parry ability, an evade ability and a combat roll. You have to adjust to enemies as each one is strong in some area and weaker in another. Sometimes it's better to Parry, sometimes it's better to evade or roll. On higher difficulties the enemies are aggressive, which means they don't wait much (or at all) between attacks and you have to be on the move and with great timing in your actions.
The story is sort of predictable, but serviceable. The cutscenes are great, the characters have depth and are pretty good (for an action game). Overall I'd say it's better than Jedi Academy, but that game barely had a story to begin with. The final sequence in the game was awesome if you ask me. So if you decide not to play the game, at least check out the ending on YouTube.

I've picked up Force Pull and the game feels like it is really starting, now. I feel like there are more options in both platforming and combat than the addition of just one Force power would suggest. Force pull a rocket, hold it, aim where you want it to go and Force Push it. Slow down a trooper just as he has fired his weapon (Kylo Ren style) then pull him into his blaster bolt or go behind and push him into it. Force Pull a trooper to use as a shield, then throw him into his buddies. Push back grenades and rockets into enemy groups. Hack a droid and let it stomp it's former allies. Pull and hold a trooper, then move/push him in a spinning fan or just drop him from a height.
Use a double bladed saber just as an Officer orders a barrage at you so you can deflect dozens of bolts back at the 5-6 troopers. Absolutely awesome when it happens.

There is even special achievements for some of those moves. The gameplay is really super diverse, which is due to all the powers on one side and the enemy variety on the other. It's super fun to discover new tactics in this game.

Still trying to finish the Tomb of Miktrull puzzle area, but I am really enjoying this game. I have gotten over my initial gripe with a few more hours of gameplay. Hoping to play more today or at some point over the weekend.

For anyone who has purchased the art book, are there any *SPOILERS* for the game in the art book? I'm tempted to look through it, but just in case there are spoilers, I am hesitant because I don't want to ruin any story or level surprises. I'd rather wait until I finish the game in that case.
Any thoughts/advice?
Thanks.

So finished up tonight. Have 25 hours into game and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not a huge wall runner fan but having played Titanfall2 it wasn't horrible to get use to that stuff with M/K. I did like Cal building his abilities during the game. Felt fights with bosses became more enjoyable as he got stronger.
Played in 1440p with everything maxed out and it looked great. As it played buttery smooth.

Haven't finished yet, only about 18 or 20 hours into it...i'm banking on a run that is 25 to 30 hours for me judging by my playing style and how I've gone about other planets thus far. Really really enjoying it. I wuold put this right up there with Jedi Knight and Mass Effect in terms of my level of enjoyment of the game. Don't actually have any complaints. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes and how it ends.....

I just did a superficial skimming of this page. I'm glad to see that people are enjoying it. I bought the game, but I'm finishing my current PT of AC Odyssey before starting it.
I anticipate fun gameplay, but I'm not sure what to expect in terms of acting, story, and the other things that make for a great game. All of the backtracking looks pretty dated, in the sense that many top shelf games try to avoid that type of thing. Fun gameplay can cover some sins to a degree.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to jumping into the game (and probably this thread) in the near future.

Finished the game. It took me 27 hours. It was well-made for what it was. However, it was about 75% platforming, which is way too much platforming for me.

I have been binge-watching Gotham at the same time I'm playing this. It was sort of a jolt. I didn't know the actor was on Gotham, so this was a WTF moment for me when he showed up.

JUST finished doing Dathomir.....and holy moly, I was on-edge the whole time......The whole planet creeped me out! The stuff of nightmares, for sure! I haven't been that unsettled playing through any part of a game since the first floppy disk version of the original DOOM came out in 1993 (I was 11 years old). Talk about totally creepifying! Countless times I would exhale a breath that I didn't know I was holding, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and I was relieved when I finally made it back to the Mantis.

I'm currently 14 hours in. I've completed the 2nd Zeffo tomb and heard news from Kashyyyk.
Before heading back there, I've doubled back to Bogano to clear out as much as I can.
To those who've finished - with as few spoilers as possible - how do you (or can you) get to the giant dog/dragon thing?

You will really enjoy FEAR and FEAR2. Play with lights off. Even better the Dead Space games
Dathomir is what happens when the stuff of nightmares becomes an actual world. Least it didn't have rather large spiders or does it .....

Finished Ilum a few hours ago.....What a fun level! Next to Kashyyyk it is my favourite so far. It's gonna be a long game for me, as I've got 30 hours in already and I suspect I'm not done yet. Got more stuff to do! Don't want this to end....But when it does, I'll hit the "New Story" button and start all over again. What an amazing game!

I hate spiders! Don't mind the little ones you find in the house, but when they get to be the size of a Dock Spider- they creep me right the *&^%@ out! Won't go anywhere near 'em. Don't know how yo ucop ein Dragon Age then Thedas is full of the blighters. There are mods to replace the spiders in the DA games with other critters.

You can't (there's an invisible wall) I'm sure you could break out of bounds with a trainer but at that point you lose the purpose of it. In addition After you collect the holocron and the empire shows up he is gone. Maybe he sensed the empire was bad business and went somewhere else
