Soooo....EA, what was that about SP games without MTX not having an audience?
Indeed. Long may it continue.
Just have to hope that the final numbers end up being good enough.
I do recall the 'nay-sayers' - whom I largely ignore - kept harping on about DAI only being Bioware's "most successful launch" and that we don't know "final numbers" etc. But the indications are that this has been a great success, so that can only improve the chances of EA letting developers make games without idiotic business requirements attached.
Note: obviously, some business requirements will have to be met, I'm talking about the 'discussed to death, egregious MTX' or "forced MP" and the like.

I think EA has been scaling back, for Anthem was a scaled back MTX system and both Fallen Order and the new Need for Speed game both don't have MTX.

I don't like MTX, loot boxes etc....But I 100% support Jedi: Fallen Order. The most fun I"ve had with a game since Mass Effect OT and DA II and DA:I (I know those are Star Wars titles, but they are all great games)

The more I play, the more I am loving it.
It isn't ground-breaking in new tech or ideas (that I've noticed, at least) or breathtakingly immense in scope or ambition. It's just fun. For me, anyway.
I was a big Price of Persia fan back in the day, and this is a lot like that. Lots of platforming, some of it punishing, some not with just a handful of ridiculous (the jump boost plants on Kashyyyk ) and a fair amount of combat/exploration that neither holds your hand nor forgives anything but the smallest mistakes.
Really, really liking it.

Jason de Heras @jasondeheras Here's my grandmaster perfect on Ninth Sister boss fight. I died to show there's a lil' trick at the beginning where you can Death From Above her if you do a late timing double jump into the arena. Spoilers at the end of this fight, so be warned. #JediFallenOrder
(Makes it looks so easy... but bear in mind he is the Lead Combat Designer. )

I showed it to a friend yesterday and they labeled it Star Wars: Super Metroid Souls and not in a bad way.
I am currently in my second game for I really want to understand the combat better, but I have my inner completionist satisfied with my first run and have seven extra skill points. I might still go back and get a few achievements I am missing before really sinking my teeth into my new game. This is probably the first game since Mass Effect: Andromeda that I have played a second time, most of the time I just play a game once and the content for it once and then move on, but there is just something compelling for me with this that I never say in the Souls games.

That's the thing its filling a huge hole that (i assume) most of us have been missing. Its clearly got uncharted/tomb raider vibes which both series are on pause. Then you add in soul-like mechanics which people love and whats left I didn't mention? OH YEAH ITS SINGLE PLAYER STAR WARS! But seriously the only other game that filled this hole as well is the most recent god of war. I really think that if EA doesnt get their scummy hands in the works this series could easily produce a GoTY.
What happened to the holochron was kinda clear long before the ending, so no surprises there. However, the Vader cameo was great!
The entire last mission was pretty cool IMO. After rebuilding my light saber on Ilum, I dressed Cal in typical Jedi garb, all in brownish colors with one of the more low key ponchos (even though I actually don't like the poncho at all but it seemed fitting). Then, before leaving for the fortress, I gave him the black outfit without a poncho. It kinda felt like when Luke dons the sleek black suit when he goes to confront Vader in Return of the Jedi and gave me another nice visual sense of a showdown. The fortress itself with it's under water parts was a really cool final level to traverse through, even though with all my powers and knowing all the enemies types pretty well at this point, it was almost too easy.
That's until the final fight against Trilla. Against her, I never really found an effective and reliable way to counter her attacks. So I had to suck up a lot of damage and use all of my 10 Stimpacks. I finally scraped through by the skin of my teeth and beat her with no stims and only very very little life left. Then the whole cutscene with Cere and her plays out. You see a close up shot of Trilla's face and only hear the signature scuba-breathing. At that point I did go "Oh shiiiit!" in front of my monitor. And then the camera makes you think that you now actually have to fight Darth Vader. Me with my 10 life points or whatever left was really sweating there, thinking I'd be thrown back to before the Trilla fight. Fortunately, Vader is basically just part of the cutscene and I could finish the game. But this was another epic Vader moment, reminded me very much of the brilliant Vader slaughter scene at the end of Rogue One. Good stuff.
All the rest I already wrote 2-3 pages back. Not much to add there, this game really delivered and IMO it's on par with the likes of Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy (which is high praise in my book).

I like how they have been handling Vader in the stories between episodes 3 and 4. In Rogue One, Rebels, and now here you see what people told you in the original trilogy: just how scary of a monster and force of nature Vader is. Here he is as an unstoppable force, and in all cases you could tell he wasn’t even trying.
By the way, I watched all the behind the scenes videos (got the special edition). Really cool stuff in there. You really get a sense as to what's at stake for the devs when they go out there to first present the game or the gameplay demo at E3. I llke that they didn't just go all "oh this person is so awesome and that person is so awesome" like many American/Hollywood making off videos do but they actually showed some of the more difficult and stressful parts of development there. Makes it all the more epic when people start cheering for them at the reveal. I always cringe a lot at these expo/advertisement shows, where they try to hype everything up up that making off video made me appreciate a little more how much the devs actually need this with 5 years of hard work hanging in the balance. Very interesting. :top:

Yea hI don't mind them having things like microtranasctions or MP in games but the yshould be seen as an extra for those that wanti trather than a must I think that' wha sometimes EA don't get. Ultimately I thin kthat's what's led to a lot of their problems they'd become too reliant on it. Expecting customers t ojust byu it all up. I don't pla yor buy stuff on Ultimate team I byu Fifa to enjoy the career mode and the story modes such as the Journey as I enjoy football or soccer as you Americans call it.

Yeah I'm looking forward to starting mine soon probably will over the weekend as I finished my ME run last night but I'm planning on playing my Grid games over the next couple of days as I've not played the nwe one of that yet either. But because they'er simple kind of pick up and pla ytyp egames like Fifa with a cvareer mode then I can just pic kup and stop whenever I wan t with those.

Yeah it kind of feels to me like a Tomb Raider but in a Star Wars skin atm but then I've only done the prologue so far but I really like the lightsaber combat. No tsuer how I'm going t ob eable t ohandl ethe boss level enemies just yet but I'm making quite short work of the stormtroopers so far but then that's what they're there for to die. But yeah the climbing and platforming segments in hte prologue definitely felt very Tomb Raidery.

I found if I have having trouble with the bosses Story Mode difficulty worked if I was having problems and would just put it back after.

I don't think you would have too many issues if you can do the combat after the stormtroopers where the occasional enemy requires a few more tactics with you moving around. When I was using Story Mode most of the time I just needed to be able to move, block, dodge, and basic attack.
If you do have problems you might want to see if there are any "secrets" you missed that you can go pickup for that would give you more health, force, and maximum stims

Same, I love this depiction of Vader as "Jason Vorhees with a Lightsaber".
Treating him as this unstoppable, otherworldly juggernaut that the characters have no other recourse but to run from and whose very presence inspires enough terror that the story briefly genre-shifts from sci-fi/fantasy/adventure into outright horror.

I really really want a digital OST......I'm lovin' the music for Fallen Order and would love to add this to my STAR WARS Soundtrack Collection. I do hope they provide one at some point (I know I have posted this exact comment before, but I am revisiting it because the more I listen to the music while playing, the more I really wish I could hear just the music and enjoy it on its own).

Well I've managed to deal with the Oggdo Bogdo boss I just used my force slow and then smashed him with the lightsaber. So ther is hope there . Im always naturall ya bit nervous when taking on bosses in video games as some can be on a whol edifferent level even if you'er managing the footasoldires just finesom ecan somewha tleave you cowering in a cornre no matter what difficulty you're playing on and it's even worse when you're onl yplaying wit h1 hand as I do.
