THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO MAKE A SEQUEL!!!!!! Oh my goodness....I have not enjoyed a game that much since the original ME Trilogy. WOW. What a great game!!!
There was nothing I didn't really like and thoroughly enjoy about it. The Combat was incredible, the story was engrossing and kept me coming back for more, the characters were very well written and voiced (and I will admit the consensus going around that Debra Wilson was a scene stealer) but I really enjoyed all of the characters, even the Second Sister (equal parts beauty, lethality and scariness, and I could even find myself sympathizing with her).
The platforming was addictively fun; reminded me a lot of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands on the 360. The Dialogue was equal parts dramatic, funny, emotional, and the music really brought me into the story and the STAR WARS Universe.
The Combat though, I haven't had that much fun (with a lightsaber) since the Jedi Knight series. Fallen Order is equal to those games for its time and in their own time....But this was so much more fun, because there was something about the combat, it was like I could feel the impact of every swing, rather than just looking cool for the sake of visual effects.
I honestly can't say enough about this game, except I can't wait for them to make a sequel. I would have no idea what it would be about, or what time period it would be set in....But that game was far too amazing for them not to make a sequel about. Wow.....wow....wow.
Definitely a GOTY contender in my opinion and my personal GOTY
Total Hours of Enjoyment from Start to Finish: 35
I'm gonna start my second play-through sometime this week (hopefully tomorrow) and play through it all over again, because it was just that much fun and enjoyable for me (I did the same with the Mass Effect franchise, played through each game twice as it was released and then the whole trilogy now many times over). I'll be playing this game for a while yet before i decide to return my attention to ANTHEM.
I remember giggling with enthusiasm and excitement at the sight of the LucasFilm (TM) logo at the beginning.....and I was itching with anticipation for the "A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy far, far away...." and the STAR WARS opening crawl to be my grand introduction-- admittedly I was unsettled when I didn't see either of those things and the thought crossed my mind this isn't a STAR WARS game but I tried to push that thought out of my mind and just see the game for how it unfolded, watching carefully. I remember the same thing happened with both Rogue One and SOLO-- it was unnerving not to see those two things in a STAR WARS movie that I was so accustomed to seeing.....But in the end, their absence didn't cause me to enjoy either movie any less. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed both movies. And so I pushed that feeling of discomfort and unfamiliarity out of my mind and attempted to become engrossed in the game as it presented itself. I'm glad I did. I'm glad I gave the game that chance, because, wow....what an adventure.

I really really want a digital OST......I'm lovin' the music for Fallen Order and would love to add this to my STAR WARS Soundtrack Collection. I do hope they provide one at some point (I know I have posted this exact comment before, but I am revisiting it because the more I listen to the music while playing, the more I really wish I could hear just the music and enjoy it on its own).
It sounds Star Warsie, or is it just me?

I kinda like it. Would need to listen to the whole track, but it's like the music being played in the Cantina in Mos Eisley or the music in Maz's Cantina.....And I recognize the vocalizations from "Marco Polo" on Netflix as being of the Mongolian language. Pretty cool.

I started this game a couple of days ago. I'm nearly finished with the story. Most planets are very near 100%. There are a few collectibles that I've not yet located or figured out how to access. Tons of trophies remain to he earned.
I've not yet completed it, and I'm anticipating a strong finish. Still, I can already say it's a pretty fun game. The combat feels a bit meh, as if there's too much latency between input and action. I don't like that it's difficult to interrupt an action/attack once I've committed. In theory, that's okay. In practice, it feels sluggish. The stand and block/parry combat feels off to me for a Jedi. I instinctively want to sidestep and dodge more, even after so many hours. I'll likely need to make an effort to truly master the combat mechanics. I'm not sure if I'll do that right away, as I loaded up on PSN Black Friday deals.
This game is crying out for NG+. I can understand why they'd not want the platforming abilities accessible from the start. One could conceivably skip most of the game if able to double jump from the start. I don't really feel this is a big deal, but whatever. The much more important issue is the cosmetic options. Cal's clothes already look shitty all game. No need for BD-1 to look dusty. Same for my lightsaber options. We should at least he able to replay the game with our collected chests and cosmetics intact.
I'll likely post some final thoughts after finishing the game. The story is enjoyable. The VA work is really strong, and the writing solid. The sound is good. The soundtrack is great. The visuals are just okay on PS4Pro. Draw distance sucks and textures pop in late. A good number of textures look raw and unfinished. Mantis looks really bad. A few NPCs look pretty bad. It's not a huge deal, but it's noticeable after playing so many better looking games over the last few years.

Episode IV: A New Hope
It is a period of AAA dumpster fires. Rebel developers, striking from a hidden studio, have won their first victory against the evil MTX Empire...
Ahem. I'll see myself out.
I just meant to say that I'm really having fun with this game. A lot. Even though I'm not really a Star Wars fan anymore, I'm greatly enjoying the atmosphere and find the story and characters pretty engaging. While not being flawless, the combat really hits the spot aside from a few teeth grinding moments against the Second Sister (but then again, no one but myself made me pick Jedi Master difficulty on my first run). I feel I'm rather close to the end now, but before I go on with the story I will revisit all planets for their last chests and secrets.
However, in one aspect the game kinda lied to me: I don't find it easier to play with a controller at all, and I tried for several hours because it explicitly said so and gave me some Dark Souls flashbacks. Then I had some trouble with my XBox controller - the left stick got stuck pressing downwards making Cal jump a lot more than he should, so I switched to mouse and keyboard and never looked back.
Hopefully this game will be a success and give EA a clue or two that single playing games aren't dead.

I finished the game this morning. I really enjoyed the final mission. The combat was more intense and rewarded me for bothering to Git Gud, or at least Git Mediocre. The escape was great.
I hope any sequel focuses more on story and less on platforming. The exploration was okay, but the story was at its best during the tombs and the main missions. It's fine that they want to make platforming important, I guess. I would recommend they continue studying Naughty Dog games, if so. No games do a better job of pacing platforming, combat and story than the ND's games.
If this game had a NG+, I'd be starting another PT. As it is, I can't bring myself to walk away from all of my hard earned goodies so soon after finishing. I'll wait a few months to see if NG+ is added.
Playing this game makes me want to watch the films again, Ep 1-6 plus Rogue One. I may not like the new trilogy, but I still love SW.

Yeah I'm not finished the game yet I'm on m ysecond visit to Zeffo atm it's been slow going but I'm really enjoying it. I would say it plays almost like a Tomb Raider game just with a Star Wars skin on it. I can see myself doing a second playthrough eventually too but that won' t be for a while due to wanting to play other things when I'm finished.

Hopefully this game will be a success and give EA a clue or two that single playing games aren't dead. Yea hwhilst I'm playing it on Story mode due to my diasbilty I'm still findin gi ta challenge but so far it's been a challenge I can cope with. I have had one or 2 issues with the bosses I'v efaced in tha tthey've worn m yhealth down moe rthan I'd like bu tthanks to BD1 and it's stims it's no tbeen anything I couldn't handle. I'm just kind of grateful they've put quiet a few meditate stations around the maps as that has made my life easier in this game. The only area where I still have one or 2 concerns are with the lightsaber bosses but I managed Oggdo Bogdo the ATST on Zeffo and the security droid on Kasshyyk. But so far those aer the only ones I've fought. As I said though though they've worn my health down a little bit but thanks to BD1 I've managed OK. But then he's a sweet little bot.

Just finished it. Holy shit, I loved it. The final battle was harder - but less frustrating - than the Malichos one, and waaaay less frustrating than the Gorgara...feckin' thing. The escape sequence - awesome, as was the whole scene leading up to it. I nearly missed the prompt to use Pull because I was just caught up in the moment. Summing up thoughts; Combat is very good, although it can be frustrating, and as has been mentioned by others, there does seem to be a bit of a lag sometimes between action on the mouse or keyboard and Cal "doing the thing", but only sometimes. I liked the platforming, like - a lot. I've seen some express disappointment/frustration/dislike of it, and that's fine. But for me, a modern game reminding me of Prince of Persia is just fine. Story was nothing amazing, but it was solid, and subtle nuance has never been a hallmark of Star Wars plot/narrative anyway. The 'setting' has always been the star of the show, there. Voice acting was good to great and the cutscenes were just amazing. I really, really hope a sequel is planned, or at least, being considered. It would be nice to have another 'automatic buy' from Origin other than Dragon Age 8.5/10 - would die horribly on an ice-slide again.

I think with NG+ and the type of game this is I think they could make it work quite nicely by giving a player all the collectibles they have earned through the game and then give them the skill points they earned, but still require the story unlocks to get new skills and equipment. You were able to describe the combat in a way I have been struggling to do so. I am about complete with my second playthrough and its probably going to be my last for I have been trying to use a lot of the abilities you unlock and most of the time they are not triggering and I am perplexed why. Such as using the kick or the ground stop to knock enemies back have been things I want to do and it just seems they aren't firing even when I attempt on either Story Mode or Jedi Knight. One thing I have been finding interesting on a personal level is the complaints leveled against Fallen Order if they were said against a Frostbite based game it would be "proof" that yet again the game engine is only good for FPS, but since it was done on Unreal there have been zero complaints about the game engine even when its an issue that other developers have had with the stuttering and freezing when loading in new content on any platform.

I also tried the game on everything from Story Mode to Grand Master. With pretty much any and every game, I play on the highest difficulty setting by default. I like the challenge. I got tired of GM difficulty shortly after arriving on Zeffo. I bumped it down to JM and found the same issues. I was annoyed enough that I thought about walking away. Instead, I dropped to Story Mode, determined to at least get to experience the story. I'm glad I did, since the story was enjoyable. Nonetheless, as you said, the issues are intrinsic, not at all linked to difficulty settings. I, too, thought of the Frostbite/Unreal comparison during play. I think this was the first game I've played in the newest Unreal engine. It was rough. I'm not familiar enough to say what's symptomatic of Unreal and what's the result of JFO's design. I had heard for years, though, how BioWare "should've stuck with Unreal". I came away unimpressed. I think MEA is far and away a better looking game than JFO. It also runs much more smoothly in general gameplay (anytime one isn't zipping along in the Nomad). Before playing JFO, I had just finished another PT of AC Odyssey. After finishing JFO, I fired up Uncharted 4 (which is now 4 years old). Both blow away JFO in terms of baseline visuals, loading (or lack thereof), texture pop, etc... Uncharted is seamless, as is standard for ND. Odyssey, as huge as it is, is pretty consistent and oft looks amazing. I'm not meaning to bash JFO. I enjoyed it. I'll play it again at some point. I hope by then they'll have added a NG+ and some better customization options. Either way, it's fun and I'll eventually have another go. It has some obvious warts, though; and I absolutely thought of how Frostbite and BioWare would've been vilified for similar issues.

It definitely has some obvious warts, though; and I absolutely thought of how Frostbite and BioWare would've been vilified for similar issues. Yeah as good as JFO is there aer better singlre player games and I'd easily put Mass Efect Dragon Age even the Tomb Raider reboot way ahead of it. In both story gameplay and in graphics I will definitel yas yit's one of the better games this year. I do think that for a first single player game that this studio has done Respawn did a good job so I'll give them credit for a solid first go. But it's defimnitel ynot the best jus tomne of the bes tto come out of this year. It ma ywin a GOTY award or 2 but only because it hasn't really had any competition as 2019 I think in terms of good SP games has been rather lacking. We have definitely had stronger years. Epecially if you taske into account tha tone of the other competitors is a rehashed version of RE2 so again it's not really been a good year. I do think with experience the ycan and wil do better as it's not a bad game and in fact I dolike it but they're not up to the levels that other AAA SP games have set yet. But if they can keep their effort and hard work up they can get there.

Yeah I know she was Cere's Padawan I was jus tsurprised she spends a lot of time taunting you after you discover that truth about her. It'#s made for an interesting story though. Looking forward to seeing how it continues.

My that Second Sister/Trilla has a mouh on her doesn't she? There is a lot of baggage there... And hotness. When she took the helmet off I was all "I see what you did there!". And the actress portraying her is a pretty close match as expected. They nailed the crazy ingame vibe too. I won't lie, if it was a Bioware game I would have gone Sith there.

I nearly missed the prompt to use Pull because I was just caught up in the moment. You should miss it next time. It's literally (heart) breaking. I wonder if this is something I missed without realizing it? What did I probably miss? sjsharp2010, I didn't realize this was Respawn's first SP game. They did a good job. Agreed on the comments about Trilla being pretty, and also playing "crazy" really well. When I first saw her I thought, "Oh, she's pretty." When the crazy eyes started I thought, "Pretty eyes. She's nuts." Mirren is also pretty. I could see that even with the all of the obscuration when Cal first met her. Maybe they'll be a pair at some point? They, like all of the human characters, look a lot like their VAs. All of the VAs did a great job. The writing was pretty good, too. The cheesiness was very low for a SW production.

Looks like I may have t ostart again on my playthrough as I screwed upas I wen t somewhere I shouldn' t and now I'm stuck there. SoI'm going to have to abandon this playthrough an dstart again another time. I know where I wen twrong but I don't hav ea sav efrom befoer the mistake. I hav eenjoyed i tthough so it won't be a problem diong it again. But I am going to dela yfor now as it'll only do my head in.I jus tgot a bit lost in the Zeffo tombs and can't get out as I took a wrong turn and ended up getting stuck there. I'm enjoying it but erading the mapand finding m yway around is a bit awkward and unfortunately it's lead t om ymistake bu tI kno whow and why so I can hopefully avoid the mistake next time. Besides after this I think I could do with going back to games I'm familiar with

Yea hit is they did have a sP campaign in |Titanfall 2 but I don' tthink you can erally cal it a single player game as really it's mainly a glorified COD thing really JFO was designed as a proper SP game but yeah the ydid an excellent job for their first go. I like the game and I can see myself cdfomin gback t oi teven though I've jus thada major screw up whic hmeans I'm going to start again. The game is working fin eon m ysystem but it was m ymistake that means I have to start again. Must admit though it makes m elaugh how stupid and suicidal those stormtroopers are. Bu tthen it wou;ldn' tb ea Starwars game/movi ewithout at least 100 dead stormtroopers I guess.

If you don't attack at the start and run to the door, Vader calls you "coward" and still pulls you in. If you turn around when running afterwards, he Force chokes you instantly. If you fail the QTE prompts, Vader crushes BD before dealing with Cal, etc. Aaaah, Mirren... Next game's bae The shipping was pretty obvious with all the Dathomir tension and the scenes afterwards. But I would love something like Jedi:Rising Sister with Mirren as the protagonist, maybe as Cal's padawan, combining her witchcraft with new Jedi tricks.
You sure? It's pretty difficult to get somewhere and be stuck in this game. Maybe you just didn't find the way out yet. You can just restart the game and continue from the last meditation point. And should be no way to get stuck if there is a meditation point nearby.
Between Cal and Vader, they will take Cal any day
