Kaboom.

I never seek out Platinum games, but I jumped into a Gold lobby that changed to Platinum after I arrived. The other three players had solid, well-equipped characters, and I had a Human Adept with a piercing mod on his Phalanx. I resolved to only shoot occasionally, just to make it fair.

One of the guys never made it to the Reactor, so we were stuck with a 3-man game. I decided to go weapons free with the Phalanx. Better still, most of the badguys funneled through the reactor to our elevated position. Everything exploded.

Unfortunately, Geth Primes can make turrets appear in your pants, so my flimsy sorcerer had to go a little heavier on the ops packs and medigel than I wanted early on.

We wiped on Wave 9. It would have been a shakedown cruise with the fourth guy. But the explosions (and inflated score)! The whole world--it should explode.

Lunch

The game was Hazard Glacier/Reapers/Gold. The pug was standing around where the upstairs center hack spawns, and a Banshee teleported up the stairs, into the room, and grabbed him. I hit a TCP and Cloak and spammed Headshots at her, and she dropped him, just in time for the second Banshee to teleport up and grab him the instant he hit the ground. LOOOOOOOOOOOL.

We staggered her, too, she dropped him, and then he went down from a Swarmer or something. In the end, though, he survived, somehow.

Reactor Fail.

Load into a Wave 3 Devices GiP on Reactor Hazard, turns out, the host was the skull on the ground, and the GI Piranha needed more Piranha... and GI, they quit wave 4 after a not-so-stellar performance. Only one Device had been managed before I loaded in, and the second device was swarmed with enemies, but of course, Lancer TGI gives no fucks, and proceeded to finish the objective, witnessing the... PUGgerific performance by the GI in the process.

I tired of this lobby quite quickly, and tried to fry myself in the reactor with one enemy remaining in the wave. Being a Brute, it gave no fucks, and walked right through the door, dying with me. NOOOOOOOOO! I had to continue enduring this lobby, that, by the end, featured the stupidest KroLord in the history of Mass Effect, who would fight mooks on the stairs, then drag the banshee off the stairs to fight her on level ground; the most incompetent scorewhoring Talon I've ran into (and have the misfortuning of continuing to run into when I PUG Gold during the middle of the day), who utterly fails at the game, then Armoured Compartments nukes wave 11 to not score so badly. (usually dying in the process); And an Average Flamer GT PUG, whom I also run into often, that can usually stay on their feet (not much of a feat, since they are usually playing an AIU), but is often doesn't do objectives, this time they did, however, so yay.

I hated myself for failing to commit suicide. I've had enough PUGs in under 2 matches to last all day.

It was very dramatic and deliberate. Turned it on, casually walked into the centre of the Reactor, looked at the ground, and waited to die. But we all know how the bigger enemies just walk through the reactor doors (closed or not), and the Brute REALLY wanted to die.

There was also that moment of panic, when my shields went down, where I almost used a Stim Pack, the survival instinct was strong.

okayforsilver:

1. Tried out the Vindicator for yuks on Silver. Quit on wave 4, even with a capable-looking squad. That thing might be the worst weapon in the game.
2. Tried out the Argus for yuks on Silver. Really good pug demogrill made it too easy. Still prefer the Valkyrie thus far.

Earned enough from the second match to scrape together change for a Spectre Pack, which got me APIII, WarpIII, the Assault Rifle Thermal Scope I, and the Arc Pistol VIII. Nice to see the RNG cooperate for a change.

Origin pls. Got invitation from Sihmm to play an all Saber game and Mission_Scrubbed was there and stupid Origin crapped itself out 20 seconds in

Sihmm had talent and he plays the Fury without the lolcolyte, which I can only respect. Collectors are boring, confirmed. Dammit, we need to do this Saber thing again sometime.

Coup

The host was a Slayer who'd started solo, and picked up myself and 2 other pugs halfway through Wave 2. Wave 3 was an Escort, of course he was off scorewhoring on the other side of Ghost. He went down, and nobody went to revive him. He allowed himself to bleed out. Now in Spectator Mode, he couldn't help but notice that, of the 3 of us who remained, none of us were inside the Escort Circle; we were all fighting about 5 feet away from it.

He ragequit, we all stuck through the migration, and the game completed without further incident.

Can'tBeTaught

Dropped GiP into something or other, the host was a Geth Soldier Flamer. Of course I outscored him, and next game, he started with no equipment. Usually I will /disconnect during the loading screen, as this typically signifies an impending ragequit, but witnessing a ragequit is worth the price of equipment admission, so this time I stuck around.

He spent a lot of time that second game standing around. He still managed to come in 2nd place again (the 2 pugs camped the LZ), and a few times would Missile a Prime just as I got it down to 3 bars of Armor.  LOOOOOL.  One thing I noticed early on was that he takes Duration Flamer, and doesn't pulse it.

So back in the lobby, I asked him if he would like to know a simple trick to make his Flamer do more damage. He answered me by quitting.
