100% spot on. Everybody just want to feel that space operatic grandeur of power fantasy, wiping butt-ugly aliens with space magic and hailstorm of bullets. Be it Reegar AIU, Harrier TGI, Hurricane TS (in fact this "OP / not suitable list" coud possibly include half of the kits)... I mean I do roll my eyes, seeing smn (and often bsn members) sporting these kind of kits, but I would never enforce my own preconceptions on them. In the end, it's just a game, non-pvp, non-ranked, nothing really at stake except hurt pride. At least it makes for a funny match, trying to outscore them with e.g. avenger. I say, please less patronizing and moar power to the people!

Form over function, I get that. I do too appreciate offbeat builds; used to bleed out just to watch these players kill (rare as they are). After 6 years, it's getting kinda stale in that regard; every now and then someone will punch nuts with batglove volus or perhaps snipe with plik plok valkyrie, but mostly it's very meta. What can you do, though? People, who would get mopped in pvp, put on incin IV lightningthrower to feel good... and that's ok.

At least the game is not toxic; nobody shi****g on you in lobby chat, unlike every other mp game I played recently.

So no sense of humour here? We can't have a set of unwritten rules that by and large mean nothing, but are funny nonetheless?

Yeesh, and I'm accused of taking the game too seriously.

Condor (yuck)/Trollies (oh noes)/Gold (a walk in the park)

Grabbed my Krentinel and went pugging. Dropped into Condor and found myself alone at first. But hey, start w2 that was no longer the case. Pimpslapping trollies left and right, I noticed an absence of abombs I could detonate pugs with. That is, If the odd pug didn´t blow themselves up with em. But then, wave 10, I got my opportunity. Our GE had armed the abomb, all I had to do was give it a little nudge in his direction. Flawless detonation. Physics never cease to amaze. Outside of that: Went down once, got nearly synced once. Overall gud gayme.

Hammertime


Joined Urizen for a few games. A pug appeared with a Warlord. I switched to my Warlord, Uri switch to his Warlord and off we go.
Firebase Goddess was our destination and the Headbutt ritual started immediately until our enemies appeared. The Reapers send their team and the game started.

Endscore was something like 2 Slamdunks and a Hug vs. countless Tuchanka Homeruns and one missileless Killstreak.

I guess we have won that one. See you for the rematch another time Reapers and bring a Team that is at least trying. ^^

Silence

Joined a Dagger Hazard/Reaper game that was completely silent.
Teammates doing anything -> silent
My own powers -> silent
Any explosions -> silent
Reapers besides some random banshee screams in between -> silent.
Just my Claymore was able to break the silence reliable.

That might sound somewhat haunting to not be able to use the sounds to locate enemies and all that... But somehow no... it wasn't.
The game just missed all its sound ambience...

Other than that it was a good game and would have been even kinda unremarkable... But that boring silence.

Oops!

Playing Reapers on Jade and twice, unintentionally, rezed a Fury into a sync kill. Sorry about that. The first was a Banshee and the second was a Brute, though to be fair he/she seemed very reluctant to use a gel.

And I did get the revive medal, so thanks too I guess.

The Avenger Times

I'm moving on from Adepts to Soldiers now. Probably. I had already used the Human Soldier (male) with Saber, which is a very old build, but I don't really like it. Good thing we get spare humans. I spec'd out the Human Soldier (female) "Humeat" (name subject to change) with the Cryo setup, except I decided on something silly and will try to cross off some never finished challenges with it. And why should meat bags start with anything respectable? Avenger and Shuriken in Gold lol.

I played 4 matches. GIP with TornACL in White with Cerberus and another in London with Reapers. I was second join, third and fourth had visible lag. All powered up, the Avenger and Shuriken aren't totally unserviceable on Gold. They passed my "can I walk into spitting distance of a medium humanoid and burst them down in one clip" test, which is literally the difference between life and death and tells me the weapons' limits. Still wouldn't want to solo a Gold boss with them. I believe I scored second in both matches, which was all I could hope for. First match, I got 10HS medal and snuck in 5 grabs. Second match, 5WS, 20HS and only 75 kill player . Not much to say. I stayed safe-ish and so (surprisingly) died the least, focus-fired bosses with teammates, saved grenades like the cash in my wallet, and barely combo'd with Concussive Shot due to poor rhythm.

Next 2 matches Humeat played with fresh meat: 3 players with 1-2K CP, URs at I, no Rare weapons above III, and spotty powerups. Needless to say, even Ugly Bags of Mostly Water must uplift the primordial ooze of future vat-warriors. Moreover, with those charges, even the lowliest vessel of the Avenger caste can have their barcode scrivened to the rolls with greatest honor. I mean, I had to carry both matches and top-scored. First match was Dagger with Reapers. I kept myself from getting into too much trouble, allowed myself to get stomped during Wave 3 cleanup, and solo'd half of Wave 8 (missiled the final Banshee). During that Wave 8, I completed the Avenger's challenge, so I switched to the Shuriken for the rest of the match. For Wave 10's HVTs, I missiled the first 2, whiffed on the next one, another player missiled it, and saved my last missile when I saw the final HVT transferred to a Ravager. I stayed with the group to oversee the Banshee fights and slow the withdrawal to extraction for as long as was sensible. Somehow we all extracted.

Final match was White with Collectors. I had switched out the Avenger for the Argus. Wow. I can handle the Mattock and the Raptor just fine, but the Argus started to grind down my phalanges. At least it does perceptible damage to bosses. I think our group played with greater composure, even if we separated more. Wave 10 was, mercifully, packages. Wave 11, two guys bunkered down at the bottom corner of the map while the smart money stayed in the upper corner spawn room. The two guys at the bottom endured for about a minute and then expired. With 30 seconds to go, I ran a half-circuit and extracted alone.

I have no actual complaints.
