Phyre is an Elder who needs no weapons. At least this is the explanation i heard why there are no weapons So what. Smiling Jack is also an Elder and likely most older than Phyre and still use weapons. That would be a stupid explanation form the devs. Maybe i could understand this decision more if they would telling more the truth aka We don´t have the budget for doing it this.

I personally liked what I saw and I wish that this thread doesn't turn into a miasma of complaining thank you very much, but looks like it's too late so I know better than to come here to talk about Bloodlines 2.

Simple solution for everyone Paradox should rename the game. Otherwise you have still Bloodlines 1 hardcore fans like myself who just almost everything hating what they reveal. Not just here in your thread but everywhere else. I don´t see that many positive voices after todays gameplay.

I'm not complaining like I said I can't make a judgement yet the game has not been released. But from what I saw it just doesn't have that Bloodlines vibe for me. That is just my opinion.

Lol, but I am one of the vocal skeptics. If you say so. No there are of course weapons also for elders. The reason here is simple cutting costs because of a limited budget.

This Willem person is new at being Nosferatu, no? It really kills the clan's mystique if the first thing one of them asks you is "Why are you here?"
That's like a Brujah who doesn't know how to fight or a Ventrue who meekly asks what the plan is.
But hey, we'll see...

They had a disposable weapon system where they could only be used for a few hits after pick-up and then discarded. That might still be around since TRC kept the telekinesis and gliding powers from the Hardsuits version.

I personally liked what I saw and I wish that this thread doesn't turn into a miasma of complaining thank you very much, but looks like it's too late so I know better than to come here to talk about Bloodlines 2. Ditto. Other than the still First Person lock and the - minor - quibble about the ghouls disappearing into vapour after killing them, I loved that. Vampire power fantasy? Sign me up. I loved BL1, and it was ridiculous for a powerful Kindred to use weapons, but you could make it make sense from the perspective of being a fledgling. A 400+ year old Elder? Using a weapon beyond their own body and power would be an insult (and I don't know or care if that is "just how it is in WoD"). The hand to hand combat still looks a bit janky, but that is more a function of FPP than anything wrong with the system, as such, or at least, that's how it appeared to me. Loved the Witcher Kindred senses being used to explore and discover. Fabien didn't bother me. A cheap way of having a companion so your character doesn't have to talk to themselves without the resource hog of another character on screen. I don't know if they've said why he is in our head? The reason will be important to the overall enjoyment, but liked his voice and there wasn't too much of him, either.

He mentioned being allowed to see his family again, so he at least considers it a possibility that they're still alive - so he could well be new at it. Phyre and Fabien's VAs were solid enough from what I saw, but Willem...ehhhh...not so much. They did say it was an early section of the game, so maybe he's the tutorial boss

Simple solution for everyone Paradox should rename the game. Otherwise you have still Bloodlines 1 hardcore fans like myself who just almost everything hating what they reveal. By that logic, Bioware should not have used Dragon Age for 2 or for Inquisition, because both those games were so different in style and feel to Origins as to have been an entirely different series. They're connected by setting and by story through lines (and party based RPG), and that's about it.

No. Fair criticism is always allowed. Well lets say without a filter that i doubt this. Oh please of course could this game still be called Vampire the Masquerade. But not just Bloodlines 2. Hell i am even fine with erasing the 2 and just calling it Bloodlines aka like Prey if they really need this Bloodlines name connection for their marketing.
Right now i saw nothing which justify the 2 in the title . So what´s the point in making a sequel when nothing is like the original. By the way DA 2 (not that much DAI) has a lot more in common with DAO as many people wanted to believe.
By the way please don´t give me lets wait and see answer. First we waited several months for this and second one of the most asked questions is if the devs could show more about the RPG elements than the combat which isn´t that important for Bloodlines 2 sequel. Well for many.players atleast.
One of most repeating feedback i see is that Fabien is pretty annoying. I agree he and Phyre are talking to much also ruining the vibe of the mission. But i guess for the TikTok generation everything has to be explained and talked over. Forspoken comparisions are nothing i would expected from a Bloodlines 2.

I am not going to comment further on this, except to say that mere fact you're here, able to voice criticism - still, on this game or Dreadwolf or any other - erases any validity your doubts may have had. It is - or rather, will be - the second Bloodlines to be released. "2" earned.

Sure but it doesn´t seem welcome here and ruins the positive safe place it seems. For marketing reasons like Prey yes but unlike the Hardsuit Labs version it doesn´t feel right from a Bloodlines 1 fan point of view. Also if i would be the only one who says this well there would be no big deal at all. Just some random dude on the internet but this suggestion is quite common.

and the - minor - quibble about the ghouls disappearing into vapour after killing them, They were illusions. Willem tried to make Phyre comatose, but Phyre brute forced herself out of it. The whole thing felt like dementation to me and a Phyre/Fabian exchange explain that Willem used the mark to trigger it and then he's talking to a Malkavian over the phone. I suspect it's all connected. I wouldn't be surprised if Willem was under some level of dementation too, it would explain his manic behavior. I don't know if they've said why he is in our head? If you mean why as in how, no that's not explained. The gameplay why is that they needed someone to guide Phyre in 2020s Seattle and probably bypass a few Elder rules from the pnp. I personally wouldn't trust a voice in my head... They did say it was an early section of the game, so maybe he's the tutorial boss It also made me think of a tutorial, except the last boss is a social battle like Deux EX HR/MD.

Of course. I got confused because some of them appeared 'as ghouls' and others were mannequins. I figured the mannequins were part of the dream trap, but assumed that the ones that actually looked real were...real. I meant "why" as in a story reason, but I guess that would be too spoilery for this stage of things. The gameplay 'why' - yeah, they'd need something like that, for sure.

Oof in the second part of the illusion when they turned round and the maniquins had moved ::NPhCdokHyYsskTIGiGlu:: i've still got doctor who 'don't blink' trauma apparently.
I'd rather have seen banu haqim or tremere gameplay but the stealth kills look fine and the lure them into one line to charge through thing was cute, though I'm not likely to play brujah in an action game.
I hope to see more of the role-playing stuff like more dialogue and the "social feeding" they mentioned. And I'd like to see a character creator or whatever level of customisation that they have. (No appearance control would decrease my interest considerably)
The idea of all these npcs have heard rumours about you but you get to decide which ones are true and whether to correct or confirm is an interesting way to give some background customisation to a semi set character.
Fabian's voice acting sounded pretty neutral and emotionless alot of the time... Didn't love it.
Phrye's facial animations looked better in this video then in the previous one I thought. What is her accent? It reminds me of Cassandra.

I personally wouldn't trust a voice in my head... Did a little Googling to see if there was much in the way of information about Fabien out there. Other than the fact that he's a modern thinblood - ew - doesn't seem to be much, but this was offered on Reddit as possible - and funny - "how" he came to be in Phyre's head. "I feel like Fabien isn’t going to have a leg to stand on if he wants to lecture about how violence is bad. The simplest explanation for how we ended up with him stuck in our head is he was trying his hand at a little diablerie and we woke up halfway through and pulled an uno reverse.
“Oh, YOU want to tell ME violence is bad? Motherfuck, you tried to EAT ME” "
https://www.reddit.com/r/vtmb/comments/17lswgi/fabien_as_a_voice_of_modern_morality/
Given what we saw of Phyre's ability to break free of the Dementation/dream trap, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch that they'd be able to pull something like that, as well. Especially if they got branded (and thus, weakened) after that happened.

though I'm not likely to play brujah in an action game. Isn't an action game exactly when you are supposed to play a brujah??? What is her accent? It reminds me of Cassandra. They haven't announced the voice actress, so it could be made up to like Cassandra's accent was to be vaguely "Eastern European" (or "Middle Eastern" in the case of Phyre).

Did a little Googling to see if there was much in the way of information about Fabien out there. Other than the fact that he's a modern thinblood - ew - doesn't seem to be much, but this was offered on Reddit as possible - and funny - "how" he came to be in Phyre's head. I don't know if I read this theory here or on reddit. But the theory goes that the person we see on screen is the thin blood, and Phyre was the elder that the thin-blood diablerized. In the old VTM lore the founder of the Tremere was a human mage who diablerized an antediluvian called Saulot. The result was a battle between Saulot and Tremere over their body. So the same could be happening here Phyre the elder could be the one who is inside the thin blood's head.

I always imagine the reason so many of these games have either the player character or somebody else constantly stating the obvious is because they had some extremely stupid playtesters who couldn't figure anything out or got bored because there wasn't some sort of noise every other second.
Other than that I thought it looked alright.
