Ugh. It's like deja vu all over again reading the same conversation in a half dozen threads. No remakes, no retcons. No fucking Liara. I think that'll be hard for the Liaramancers, they dream about that ALL the time.

Gotcha. My firm preference is for absolutely zero retcons. In cases where the trilogy is incoherent or inconsistent, pick whatever version is most convenient for what we're trying to do, and pretend it was always the truth. In my mind, that's still a retcon though. Only the actual modus operandi of reconciling the old with the new changes. Definition: "a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency." In your wording, it's just plucking which details support the new interpretation and "pretend(ing) it was always the truth." In the case of an interactive game, the "truth" is unavoidably only one interpretation of events out of several presented alternatives. In short, some retcons are probably unavoidable. But if the source material doesn't actually establish a continuity, how can it be retconned? It's not like there's an actual MEU beyond the games themselves.

But if the source material doesn't actually establish a continuity, how can it be retconned? It's not like there's an actual MEU beyond the games themselves. Think about that... if there is no previous attempt to at least establish a continuity, how can there be an inconsistency?... Yet, you're the one who said: "where the trilogy is incoherent or inconsistent, pick whatever version is most convenient for what we're trying to do, and pretend it was always the truth. You are, per the definition, attempting to "account for an inconsistency" to facilitate a plot shift... because in the actual plot of the games as RPGs, all player choices are possible truths. For anyone not making the chosen choice, that is the equivalent of inserting a "piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events in their game as they played it."
It's a retcon... but nothing is impossible... so, make the proposal with whatever retcons you interpret to be "most convenient."

Old Liara might make a pretty good antagonist, similar to the first Mission Impossible movie or Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom.

Mass Effect: The Search for Spo-uh, Liara, where Shepard regroups with his comrades on Earth and tries to find a way to get back to the Normandy, fight your way through the galactic chaos, find ways to travel through the local cluster in an effort to locate the stranded Normandy and reclaim your waifu.

And Kelly decides that the most safe spot in the galaxy is by Shepard's side.

Spooky Cerberus stalker spy got turned into goo. It was a satisfying moment in ME2. Would have gone with exemplary airlock action much sooner tho.

What use would t'soni serve in a game that takes place x numbers of years after the events of ME3? Well For a Post Reaper War Liara, I have a story idea that she has a split personality. One of her personalities is good and will help the player uncover the New Reaper Plot that happen after Reaper War. She is very aware of her evil indoctrinated personality. So she set up a boss battle against the player when she couldn't control her dark side. The Player and Liara have meet during ME3. She knows the type of person the Player truly is and the type of character that is a danger to the Reaper and their power. Of course there will be some 1984 type of Mass Effect game and that leads into a Project Darkstar and with that Project Darkstar, series of bloody battles within Dark Space and a boss battle with Harbringer. What if she works for Cerberus without knowing it? hahaha
The beginning of the game starts with T'soni in shackles facing high Command for her punishment for crimes she committed. High Command asks her if she has any last words before being sentenced. She looks to the ground, then to all the people in the stands awaiting to hear her punishment. She looks to her left and sees Garrus shaking his head. But where is Shepard? Why hasn't she/he being there for her? Why? Is it possible Shepard........
Your Cerberus Phantom and my Cerberus Gymnast head to an unknown location. It's TIM's secret lair in case something happened. Both learn that the asari failed to reveal an artifact that could have saved many lives, especially human lives. That get's their blood boiling. They have a mission, revenge. They learn that Miranda wanted to control Shepard by putting a chip in his/her head. What if they do that to an asari? A very specific asari, Liara T'soni. They end up kidnapping her without alerting anyone. The control chip is put in her head. Now the fun begins. They command her to commit terrorist attacks against her own people including the assassination of the asari councilor while dressed up as a Cerberus phantom. Shortly after killing the councilor, Phantom and Gymnast release control of the asari, destroying the chip in her head removing any evidence that she was under someone's control. Liara is taken into custody without incident. She is confused as to what happened and said it wasn't her. She pleads with law enforcement to investigate. They do give her the benefit of the doubt by having someone investigate before she is to face trial. Garrus helps Liara. He knows she wouldn't do anything bad that would cause her to commit those crimes. He has about 6 months.
During his investigation, he found some very disturbing things about Liara. At her apartment, a secret room was found. On the wall was a poster of Tim and Miranda. He found a video log showing her bowing to both posters. It later shows her putting on the Cerberus outfit, then going to commit her crime. It didn't make sense to Garrus. He needed more information. He traveled to all the spots Liara went to before, during and after the reaper war. On Mars is where he found the most incriminating evidence against Liara. She found the plans to the crucible, and alerted the asari councilor who then told her to play dumb for the benefit of their species. That explains a lot. But why didn't anyone find this? He searched a bit more and realized that no one has searched this area after the reapers were here. Garrus has one last place to check, the Normandy. Since it's in Alliance hands, he had to get permission to look at all it's video logs. It still had Liara's equipment onboard. She gave him the passwords to look for information. He found what he was afraid he would find. More incriminating evidence against Liara. It has a reacording of the asart councilor telling Liara that the genophage is not to be cured no matter what. Liara dispatches a few agents to sabotage the cure. This explains why Wrex went on a rampage against Shepard. Garrus is starting to hate Liara more and more. It's hard to believe she would do any of this. But with what he's found, hate might be the nicest thing. He heads back to Thessia. Liara gets into a fit of rage claiming she never did any of that. The evidence says otherwise. With that, Garrus walks away knowing Liara is guilty of the crimes she's been charged with.
Now back to the beginning of the game. It's at that moment she realized that Shepard is somehow involved. She tells High Command to investigate Shepard. They shake their heads wondering if this is her last attempt to pass the blame to someone else. Garrus walks up to her and tells her Shepard had nothing to do with any of it. He/she has nothing to gain by doing any of what Liara has been charged with. At that moment, Liara realizes her fate. She stands tall in front of High Command awaiting her punishment.
2 months later, while Phantom and Gymnast are doing whatever, a voice is heard in the shadows voice: Well done you two. It worked out better than I thought it would. voice #2: It did indeed...Shepard. Shepard: It sure is better than throwing the asari back in the volcano. Anyways. I need to get going. If Phantom and Gymnast ever need a favor, let me know. It's the least I could do for you two. I will see you next week for lunch Miranda. Miranda: Yes. Now I need to get back to Cronos, I'm working on a special project.
What would the game be called?

I know that I love Cerberus Phantom because space cyber ninjas with swords clad in leather due to they are hot(more ways than one) but Lets face it, I know that they are fictional. He admits that he has a fetish for leather double if it is a gorgeous woman in leather.
