Pretty sure the triggers are getting close to the Goblin camp or trying to leave the map (top of the hill past the drinking Goblins and cross the bridge after the Gith encounter). Aka getting to see the artifact do it's thing. I thought that was probably it. I suspect some of the camp scenes will trigger quite fast now. I had the 'use the tadpole' scene in the next rest after that one (I needed one after Grym) and I'll see whether I get another one after Nere whose head is next on my list. Edit: Had time. It triggers when you open the gate to the elevator to the top side. Which means Shadowheart will brave the Underdark to wave it at you. Interesting. You must have a bunch of saves around to test this stuff out.

Went through the entire Creche without long resting. It got tight at the end - that Quatermistress and her goons always do more damage than they have any right to. An idiot tried to browbeat me I managed to avoid someone's wishes And then someone else gave me an alternative POV Picked up a glowy thing without blowing the whole place up Left the Creche and had a 'Awww' moment Another idiot tried to persuade us, but at least he was polite Lae'zel and her anime sword have had enough of this shit. I've sold so much loot that none of the vendors left alive have any gold left. So I suppose it's on to The Cursed Lands and Moonrise, pausing to have a quick chat with Gale's granddad on the way. Time to change up the party as well. Shadowheart back in, maybe Gale too. Lae'zel and maybe Wyll out. Losing Lae'zel will be a blow to party power, but Shadowheart really excels in chapter 2 and I'll probably give her the Light of Lathander as an extra bonus.

On my 2nd playthrough and about to enter the Monastery. The vendors restock gold and random items each long rest. I thought the same during my 1st run and there were no traders in the shadow cursed lands in my 1st playthrough.

there were no traders in the shadow cursed lands in my 1st playthrough I think there are a total of four traders in the Shadow Cursed lands, although it's quite easy to lose two of them early. They are Two in Moonrise - Zhents and Bugbear Two in Last Light Inn - Quatermaster and Dammon

That would be awkward traderwise, yes. I must admit the first time I got to the Inn and had that fight that Isobel died and it all went to ratshit. I couldn't accept several of those people dying so I reloaded and just put Shadowheart next to Isobel to constantly heal her. I think I would have had to reload anyway as the state the party was in I wasn't going to win that fight.

Araj Oblodra in the Tower, Sister Lidwin in the House of Healing, and Barcus and Mattis in the Last Light Inn.
It is also very much possible to return to the Act 1/1.5 merchants before getting the ultimate warning in the Gaunlet.

It is also very much possible to return to the Act 1/1.5 merchants before getting the ultimate warning in the Gaunlet. I didn't mention those as they are very much limited as traders at this point, but for completion you are correct. Going back to Ch1 merchants is fraught with danger, you can break more than the main plot that way, including Halsin/thaniel.

IDK 100% but I think most of the glitches due to traveling to Act 1/1.5 have been patched. Minthara simply refuses to travel and should be left at the camp, and Halsin won't even notice. Otherwise, I had no issues with going back and forth multiple times but that was before the final patch. There should be nothing timed in Act 2 except saving Rolan IIRC.

It might still be possible to trade with Balthazar and one of Yurgir's meregons. I could backtrack for trading. But after accumulating the loot from the Shadow Lands I largely gave up on sorting all the loot. It's kinda happening again this playthrough but I have acquired crates to sort the loot in the traveller chest. I think I did 1 deal with Balthazar, yes. After that he went unavailable. Yurgir wouldn't even talk - straight to combat. Some things might have gone broken, I guess. To sum it up - the playthrough can be descibed roughly as: "Ulf - corpses paved his way", but it wasn't an evil playthrough. It's just that I totally didn't play how it was expected, I think. But it all worked out, just skipped a lot of stuff. And characters. Which ended up mostly dead. Even lost a companion.

It doesn't seem broken or not as expected based on your description. IMO, this looks like a fairly reasonable and probably quickest path to get out of the Shadow Lands if you don't care about buying some items for a particular build from the traders. I think, most non-evil path players who don't go for honor mode simply reload until they can save Isobel since the fight can get dicey on tactician without prior knowledge.

Trust me, it gets even dicey on my custom chosen easy cruise mode. I just had to reload the fight but he paid. Oh yes he did.
My first player character was monk - now it's bard. They both have certain roguish skills, so Astarion was employed fewer and fewer. But I restored him for the fight and I think I have figured a possible way to make rogue work in combat - dual wielding.

I'd played through that several times in EA and although things were a little different I knew some of what was going on. And got lucky. Ol' squid head was probably more effective than normal.

The first one!!?! Man…did they add the turn limit before crash on release? Or did it come later? I know there was no limit during EA, and another section of the Nautiloid you could explore. I’ve had serious restartitis the last couple of days, so it was the fourth time I’d played that section in less than 48 hours. Needed Us, Shadowheart Commanded him to Drop, then Blessed everyone. Lae’zel picked up his sword and finally my bard used Faerie Light, gives disadvantage to enemies in its radius.

I'm pretty sure the time limit was there. As I said I think the squid got in some good hits and stunned him. The party's paltry damage just added enough to do the deed. Pure luck basically. I don't think I even used Command that time around having forgotten to change Shadowheart's spells so she could cast it.

I was thinking of another cambion and was wondering how the heck you could get to Act 3 without triggering any achivos. Then read more and ah, yes that one. Still a feat worth celebrating. A brief visit to my durge save turned into testing shenanigans. Been messing around with a Durge save which has the Durge, the Shadowheart and the Wyll. Had a brief cameo with the bard and was interrogated by Shadowheart. Don't remember having the option to offer to leave the group before, but then again, Lae'zel is usually in the group so maybe she blocks the option or something. Also could just have forgotten about it. Was kinda interested in that Wyll did not join in the interrogation and talking to him after all he would comment on was Zevlor and the goblins. So tried murdering Shadowheart and redoing the save and the game just skipped the interrogation scene all together. Jeez. This inspired more testing. First grabbed Karlach and she'd join with Shadowheart and then take her place after she accidentally died on reload. Grabbed Gale and he would join Shadowheart and Karlach when they were breathing and take the interrogator seat when they were not. Finally grabbed Astarion. Knew he would chime in if the others were breathing so culled them and saw the interrogation scene. Not once did Wyll speak. Not even during the scene where Astarion shows the Durge his knife on the beach. So don't know if he's bugged or just another one of the injustices pulled at him. Pretty sure Halsin and Minthara don't have scenes. At least not ones you can trigger normally in game since you can't enter act 2 without seeing it, so. Boo. Also still haven't gotten bored of this scene. Gore warning. Why the scene doesn't happen in the temple area baffles me. Or at the beach. Or just not smack dab in the middle of the bedrolls. Also just noticed during the testing that during the cutscene it looks like the Durge snapped her horn off to stab her with it, but out of the cutscene it vanishes. Probably because she's not a static item but in the ragdolled death posture so the extra bit would be way more work than it's worth but still, the heck is wrong with you Durge.

Been going through Chapter 2. Spooky Met the Bhaalspawn's old flame, even if she only mentions her first husband Visited Dammon and gave Karlach a hug Somebody tried to get closer but don't trust 'her' No screenshots but I went to meet the Drider, convinced him to give me the lantern and then send him and his group off into the dark without it. Expected to find their bodies later but Instead they were an extra fight in Rethwin town square, actually became part of the same fight as the shades there due to bad positioning. Freed the Pixie. I've never done anything other than free her, I wonder how not freeing her plays out in Stop the Presses in Act 3? Mizora arrived as a sending instead of in person and asked for a favour. I wonder why? Did a deal with her in return. Then screenshots die out as the constant Daylight spells wash everything out Went into the Tollhouse and picked the wrong dialogue which put me straight into combat. Finn was downed in the first attack and everyone ended up seriously damaged by the end. I also missed out on some gold which was hanging in mid-air and couldn't be recovered even by a spectral hand.

I totally forgot to mention, that I finished honour mode last month and gave earned the golden dice. Loved it. I did loose Rolan, owlbear and Astarion though, but everything else was positive outcomes.

Won a drinking contest Helped in a medical procedure Rescued a child Met someone scary Met someone kooky and didn't insist on Astarion biting her Met an asshole Recruited someone new Never recruited her before. Made her a Bardadin as Finn already does the Vengeance Paladin schtick. Shar's Gauntelt next with Finn (Vengeance Paladin), Karlach (Throwbarian), Shadowheart (Twilight Cleric), Minthara (Bardadin)

Okay once I finish Veilguard and Inquisition I am coming back to BG3, and am definitely going to recruit/romance Minthara this time around. I found this clip on youtube of her getting emotional over Karlach's decision of her own fate. As I said before Minthara's voice actor killed it with her performance. Also just want to say I did not create the video so don't blame me for what she's wearing. Spoilers ahead!!!
