It appears that a lot more than said Red Wizard are still alive from the BG1/BG2 games via the recent D&D lore update ( see this video). Of course most elves/half-elves/dwarves would still be alive, but so does a lots of humans...some that aren't that much humans anymore. It doesn't mean they will all show up in BG3, although a few hangs at Candlekeep which isn't that far...and the others can be linked to stuff in the EA (potential spoilers under the tag). Edwin the Red Wizard took someone's place in BG and got an apprentice who you can talk to in the EA.
Xzar made his way to Demi-Lich status and working toward full Lichdom apparently. And raise his buddy Montaron from the dead. We meet members of the Black Network in the EA, the organization he was a member off in BG1/BG2, trying to smuggle things into BG and helping the Absolute cult...and they serve Bane on top.
Irenicus and Bodhi are trap in the Shadowfell and datamining showed we get to visit the Shadowfell in the second section map of Act 1 we don't have access to yet.
Kagain now serve Bhaal. So does Sarevok who was "saved" by his daddy once he came back.
Xan hangs out at Candlekeep along Kelgar (who's totally cheating to stay alive).
Kivan and Cernd are married. Lucky for Cernd, level 18 Druid get Timeless Body so no cheating for him.
Imoen is part vampire/human/god essence that slowed down her aging. Technically doesn't work for her to still be around considering how Bhaal came back..but whatever.
Minsc and Jaheira were already datamined for BG3, looks like Jaheira is a Harper recruiter now thought. Adding: The book mentioned in the video was kinda published too soon it seems (as it was removed and people who got it are complaining it needs another editing pass). It is published by WoTC, but it was made by Archetype Entertainment a Division of WoTC (so not the normal writers) and written by James Ohlen (BG1/BG2 was his high school/college D&D sessions that he then turned into video games when BioWare hired him). edit: some people are disputing the canoness of the book, but some stuff line-up too well... |

Confirmed by someone who went to EGX to try the patch 6: Sorcerer has both Wild and Draconic archetypes available.
The tiny previous only showed Darconic stuff. There was some beautification pass on the tutorial and feedback/UI stuff too apparently. It was a timed demo and they only managed to get t the grove fight, so couldn't see much.
Also, a new Panel from Hell is going to happen to present the patch 6 stuff. So probably 2-3 weeks before we get the patch. *I want it now!*

I am soooo ready for this next patch. I had a great time with my Rogue/Thief for Patch 5 (had Astarion go Arcane Trickster, and it was a blast having two rogues in the party). Really looking forward to playing as a Sorcerer - haven't played a magic caster since earlier this year.  |

Sorcerer lose the Wizard spell versatility which is very useful in pen&paper, but in a video game when all you want to do is throw fireballs Sorcerer are the way to go. In 5e, they have the same amount of spell slots per day as Wizards and are limited to how many spells they know total. Sorcerers get a resource called sorcery points in 5e too which allow them to create spell slot or convert a spell slot to sorcery points, but the real usage of that resources is using metamagic (basically 3e metamagic feats + some new ones). As for Wild Magic, it still use a Surge system with a table for effects. The player's handbook table is different than the one in BG1/BG2 thought and it's unclear if Larian will put all of them in or add their own. One of them is " cast fireball on yourself" so you can't probably blow yourself up once fireball is in the game (level cap is still 4 so no fireball yet). The fireball one was mentioned by a dev at EGX apparently.

BG3 next patch will add NVIDIA DLSS which boost performance a lot according to Nvidia. They also thing the new patch comes out this week, but I doubt it because Larian haven't done their Panel from Hell yet. edit: speaking of the Devil, new Panel from Hell on the 14th at 9AM PT/6PM CEST. Also, they subtitled it Grymforge which is an area unreachable (and unfinished) in patch 5 (past the boat trip that currently end the EA). So new content is coming??? edit #2: Confirmed via another tweet that the next patch will open access to the (new) area and if that include everything linked to that area in patch 5 that means we get the temple where the Nightsong should be or at least, where we can see huge statues of her . And that would means more Shadowheart's backstory if they kept what I datamined back in patch 2 or 3 ("kept" because sometimes stuff disappear between patches as they rewrite things and I haven't checked since). |

Secret: you can reach the area in like 10-15 minutes via abusing the tadpole and you'll be around level 3ish...without fighting anything but the intro stuff and the grove entrance (that require way too much work to avoid) if you know how to avoid the always enemies on the maps because you know where they are (and win your DCs to avoid a few fights until you become a real True Soul). I've done it after I finished my first PT to test a bunch of things.

Maybe I start a new playthrough with the announcment of a new area. As I said, I was a bit burned out and couldn't just bring myself to do another playthrough. My current one is in halt in Auntie Ethels hutt. And I really like that storyline.
But I'm curious about the sorcerer plus a new storyline. I might just do it.
Still a bit mifffled that the new class isn't bard.

Path 6 release today, after the stream. Once they manage to get pass the Hook Horrors in the Underdark and other stuff in the Underdark... The patch comes with a big graphical update. If you take a proficiency, you get another weapon action now. Druid got an update to cat wildshape edit: - Blood splatter, bruises and dirt decals were added if you are hurt/travelled a lot without resting - advantage from high ground is gone (lets party!!, it gives a static +2 bonus now) - Sven shattered himself for 17 damage via Wild Surge on his Sorcerer... - Sven and the other guy " impossible to fail this roll", what happened: they almost failed the roll, got 5 on a DC 5 thanks to bonuses/guidances. |

Downloading patch 6 now...should be ready by Christmas. (archaic dsl download speed). Also had to make room on ssd, but that is fine. Had a few games I haven't played - nor probably ever will again - that were easy enough to uninstall. So now I wait. And wait. and wait....  |

There was a sound update as well it seems, it's not just visual stuff. Everything just sound more "alive" now. Minthara has a new haircut for the second patch in a row. Chromatic Orb is awesome and Halflings have some cutscene issues in the intro. I made a Silver Dragon bloodline Halfling sorceress. Although, Wild Magic is probably where the real fun is with the random surges, as Draconic Sorcerer gets like 2 features with the current level cap. edit: Wild Magic also gets unique dialogues line here and there. I really like the visual update too. This game is going to be super pretty at release. Only four classes left, right? Paladin, Bard, Monk, and Barbarian? Yes. Paladin and Bard requires better reaction support thought. Barbarian is the easiest to put in, so it will probably be dead last. |

After watching PfH I really want to play a gnome.
Haven't downloaded the patch yet, since it was night here in Germany and I was tired.
About Minthara: don't really care about her, she dies in all my playthroughs, but If that new hairstyle isn't available for my girl, I'll riot. Plus I hope the armor is lootable.
