The dice rolls are a bit wonky as well or I don't understand the mechanics. If I have bonuses worth of +3, shouldn't my lowest roll be at least 4 then? I frequently roll ones and twos irregardless. Nah, they work it the other way round. Instead of adding your bonuses to the dice roll, they subtract them from the target. If you hover curser over the target values, you’ll see the original target values and any modifications. That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
I've hit a spot where I'm not sure what to do. Everywhere I go I am way underleveled. Can't find the Druid anywhere either.

Short rest is the "BG sleep" icon/button on the right side of the mini-map. You just have to dip them in flames or use a candle...and I was thinking of just taking the light/dancing light spells at character creation but decided against it. Maybe I should have. The bonuses are removed from the DC instead of added to your roll result So if the DC is 10 and you got a +4 bonus, you'll see 6 and roll a d20 against that. It's perfect for people who don't care about the math, totally confusing for people who know how it works. I googled where to find Short Rest - it's pretty handy. It's just odd with the torches. It should just be a right-click or something easy. You can light candles and braziers with a click, but you have to Dip your torch into an existing flame to light it. It's a good point about the DCs (though it would be nice if it displayed your bonus). I noticed some bugs with modifiers not applying though. But to be expected I guess. You can have a detail of the DC with your bonus via a tooltips. As for the torches, there are a few features that should be "auto" that are like that. Ex: sneak attacks. You have to use the sneak attack ability to do it, instead of auto-registering. I expect this to change before release, DOS2 had auto sneak attacks. Also, I found the log!!!! It's the drawer UI element on the bottom right side. And enlarging the hotbar is the tiny +/- beside the middle portrait.

Someone made a comment about the % to hit in combat. There are two: - when you highlight an enemy (that's your "to hit" vs the enemy AC) - the circle on the left side, that's the representation of the advantage/disadvantage dice(s) you can have in certain combat conditions. I don't have any crashes so far. *cross fingers* I'm no fan of the rng rolls. I've to reload when I get lousy results. Failing those rolls isn't always a lousy result, it's just a different story path. There are some content you won't see by always succeeding and vice-versa. It's also how D&D works and nobody had issues with them in other D&D based games when the rolls happened in the backgrounds and it just said failure on screen when you failed something like a persuasion check. Combat works the same, do you reload every time you get a miss? And they aren't true rng. A 1 is always failure, a 20 is always success. You have 5% chance of getting both. The rest is a static % of success based on your attribute modifier and proficiency and other possible bonuses (ex: Guidance, Friends for Charisma, etc). As you level up, the easy/normal DC will always be a success unless you get a 1. And unlike BioWare, I expect Larian to not give locks all 20+ DC (difficult) even at higher level as those are supposed to be based on the quality of the door, not content level. Also, people forget so easily that low level D&D characters are scrubs. Not when the roll depends on whether you're getting a sidekick or not; the brainiac at the beginning. Combat? Nope, I'm not bothered with misses in combat. It's expected.

Eating stuff (like apples), provide a tiny bit of healing. As they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I'm not sure who is more bossy: Shadowheart or Lae'zel. Although, Gale and Shadowheart really like my decisions so far. I'm basically lying to everyone we meet (Deception DC). Bouahahaha. There is a lot of NPCs in this. I barely talked to the people at the Grove...but I talked to some of the animals (because I took the speak to animal invocation for my Warlock). I'm sad that the only Warlock pact in so far is the Pact of Chain. Now I have to summons a familiar to get anything out of it. I still haven't found my invocations list, at least the upgrade to Eldritch Blast works (applying Charisma modifier). Lae'zel is the best: "You are full, dismiss your weakest warrior for me to join". To bad her and Shadowheart hate each others (well Shadowheart doesn't like Githyanki). They are my fav so far. Combat is a bit annoying when every enemies focus on your character (happened in the ruined chapel).

Combat AI still needs a little work. The mage in the Chapel just incinerated her own party with Burning Hands. Had to read the combat log to figure out what the hell happened.
Dunno why we got XP for it.
OTOH, on my earlier run the AI was smart enough to Fire Bolt an oil barrel next to my party. Don't stand next to those.

I encountered glitches but nothing game breaking. It's mostly to do with mob deaths.
I had a mob wizard disappearing on me in the fight outside the chapel. I couldn't find her corpse to loot. In the critical hit cutscene, the undead scribes went into this taffy pull jigger animation before settling.

There is something with that mage in the Chapel. When she died in my encounter, her corpse stood around like an alive waiting NPC...but I could loot her and she read as dead. lol. By the way, I am amazed that Astarion does take damage when walking in running water. You think the tadpole would have helped with that like with his sunburning issues. And I'm quite engrossed in the plot already, it is slow but intriguing. There was some interesting stuff in some notes and talking to some corpse. Also, everything dealing with the mindflayer stuff where the Narrator just says you find those things adorable and it's all creepy monster in reality. Totally on point. Oh and companions have a lots to say (but I'm not exactly exploring all their dialogues). And I found a reference to Shadow Druids. Remember those from BG1 and BG2! I do. I'm pretty sure I know who is one too. I even got a death contract for that druid already but I'm pretty sure that's the goody option and I'm supposed to be evil. Although, right now I play it more like "don't bother with other people's problems, lets just find a way to remove that thing". I think you can make potions at the Druid Grove too, with the plant bundles and the cauldron. One of the book near Nettie talks about a potion with the ingredients required. I didn't try it, but it use some of the plant bundles I already looted so I suspect that's what it is for.

Another crash bug when doing that things which happens when Gale gets killed. An item got spawned in which didn't have anicon, and interacting with it caused the crash.
I'm still stuck in the crypt, but at least my last save was closer this time.

Ooh another thing I'm loving is how the story unfolds through the party camp/resting periods. It's so reminiscent of DAO but elevated to a whole new level because it pieces the story and the action together.
I remember one of the writers saying how they used those moments of respite to pack on the drama and tensions between the party based on your actions, and it's just really enjoyable and intriguing how they've implemented it.
also, every npc has a cut scene!! even the ones that are seemingly unimportant with one or two lines of dialogue. Pretty impressive all things considering.

Well, another glitch. I can't loot some mob corpses because the items are marked as stolen. Really.. If I take them, the value drops. I've also had cutscenes happening twice with different companions. Also had a cutscene with duplicate outlines of where the chars are standing. Not too happy with the trading thus far because the dang traders mark up the items. From 500 to 800 to 1000. Nope. It's hard enough already to get the gold, I'm not spending on equipment / armour, just the potions. Oh and a crash because I was trying for a shortcut. I was expecting the rest pf the party to follow when MC jumped a gap but nothing happened. When I tried it again after reloading, the rest of the party ran to the entrance which I didn't want them to do. *sigh*

The Game looks so good and I'm hearing how great it is as well, I was even going to get it till I found out it's early access and one ACT 1 is out, so I'm waiting when it's entirely out before even bothering because I don't like early access games that aren't finished. I feel like I'll also eventually be unfair towards the game if it's not complete.

She became taffy pull because when I toggle world highlight, I got this weird misshapen spread that's supposed to be clickable but I couldn't do anything with it. Yeah. The rng worked in my favour though; no, I didn't reload. No tadpole for pets! I like the fact that the party can go to camp irregardless of their location, as long as they're not in combat or in dangerous places and once rest was over, automatically pop back to the last location they were in without having to travel back there. I didn't do a lot of talking to the companions in camp as I want to leave it when the game is complete. I'll do the auto dialogue when that appears.

Really digging Amelia Tyler's narration in this one. Just the right hint of sinister. A tad bit typecasted maybe. Her narrator reminds me of her work as Nyrissa in Pathfinder Kingmaker. I'm expecting her to be some sinister NPC in the game now. And with the Absolute being female...

What are people opinions about the companions? Lots of people complaining they are means and unlikable on the official forums, and I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who likes them and don't have an issue with their personalities.
They can be a bit bossy about the tadpole and self-centred, but outside of that and Astarion oozing chaotic evil, I get along with them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to reach best friend status with Shadowheart soon even. And I haven't done anything evil outside deceiving people to avoid fights and stealing from the dead. I just don't bother trying to help everyone I meet, tadpole comes first (which I guess is a neutral alignment).

Didn't get the early access yet. I'm waiting for a bit until I finish my current DOS2 and BG1-ToB Berzerker-Druid playthroughs, hopefully the game will be more stable by then and I will find the 150 giga needed in my SSD . I'm happy that many outlets have very positive impressions of the game (besides that one guy that either was lying his ass off or just got it early to bash the game for cheap clicks).

They have that usual initial standoffishness to them, but I expected that. Shadowheart & Lae'zel have their little rivalry going on and seem to be the most interesting so far. Gale's just kinda "there" (so far), and I haven't spent enough time time with Wyll or Astarian (the somewhat stereotypical vampire) yet to get a solid opinion on them. No paladins here though! They're all seem to fall into the grey-to-black morality spectrum.

Did anyone else outright miss Lae'zel? I missed both Astarian and Lae'zel before going into the chapel. (At the very least I wish I'd picked Lae'zel up so I would've had a full party going in... )

How'd you miss Astarion? I thought he we right on the path.
Concerning the Chapel, that battle's a lot easier if you loot before pushing the button.
Anyone have any luck doing anything with the Ritual of Sealing? We've got a list of the dead, but I don't see how to procure a mixture of bone and ash.

I didn't go up that westernmost path where Astarian was - the path looked like it was heading away from where I wanted to go. I didn't realize it just looped back to the ship. Yeah, I did loot the place top to bottom before hitting the button. The fight was manageable with 3, but I made sure to tuck everyone into the room and fought them from there.
