That’s good to know. I just noticed in their games they’ve been doing more and more “all religions are fake” so was worried they were doing that with this one now despite their earlier promises. Especially with them having everything be “because ancient elves” which I’m not really a fan of. I think that’s the only part that I was confused about. The other things that concerned me are understood, like Solas being too powerful. Makes sense. Cool oke! Yeah def none of that about the Maker from what I saw, just a few bits on the Chantry's opinion on and response to this new development, new knowledge and kinda-god guy.

I will say while I am a bit sad that the book didn’t answer for certain if the Inquisitor is the protagonist or not (I didn’t expect it to, just hoped), I will say that with so much connection to the Inquisition this book has as well as talking about “the generals” and it ending with Charter writing the Inquisitor makes me a bit more hopeful.

I did find a char who has a prosthetic leg made of dwarven crafted metal below the knee. they fight, the craftsmanship means there was a lack of damage. could easy mean fuck all but I thought this was an interesting character design choice and detail to highlight... clearly good-enough prosthetic limbs exist in Thedas exist outside of concept art and epilogue pictures.

I think charter is an ancient elf. That came to my mind after reading the last story.
1. Charter is not her real name. 2. She was at Tea Salon at least a few time before (in book: ten years and few names ago) 3. Solas says: "those like you- the elves who still remain-may even find it better when it is done". The elves who still remain. I believe it was put here specifically. Also, remember what Solas said to Abelas? Your people still linger.
Another small detail. In the book, Solas answers to the Charter inquiry about why he came: "as for me coming in person...the Inquisition was involved." He returned to his seat. "Why did you come?". You being in this format, drawing attention to it.

You being in this format, drawing attention to it. I joked about that earlier, however that could also mean he expects a lot of elves to die as collateral damage after he does his thing. As for her having many names, she’s a spy and stuff so she has used a few. And with him wondering why she came specifically, he may simply want to hear her personal reasons rather than just official ones like “the Inquisition sent me” or “I’ve operated these circles before”.

I could agree, but then why does he say "those like you"? If he simply refers to those, who will survive his plans, how can he guarantee she will? And i know, I know. I'll probably cool down in a few days. But this book got my head spinning. I have a theory after reading almost every story!

So far I read: 1. Three Trees to midnight 2. Down among the dead men 3. The horror of Homrack 4. Callback 5. Luck in the gardens 6. The dread wolf take you (couldn't help myself).
Three Trees to midnight- was pretty generic and not generous in lore part, but served as good opener. Only notable moments for me personally: you can shapeshift into halla, Arlatahn forest previously was either Andruil land or where she used to hunt. Dalish actually not as little and sparse in numbers, as previous games led us to believe- enough to infiltrate qunari and steal their plans. Also, they work with other clans, which is dope.
Down among the dead men- loved this one. It was a great insight into Nevarra's culture. And characters were memorable, I feel like a librarian will be an actual NPC we'll encounter in the game (I really hope so).
The horror of Homrack- creepy AF, and that how I like it. Info on Ghilan'nain was cool and it's an obvious setup to the creatures we will have to fight game.
Callback- oh, the feels. To read that Skyhold is abandoned, to hear a tidbit of what became of Inquisition was grand. Also information on Solas's regret? Huge. The main idea is also really resonated with me- to accept&move on. possibly the only way to save Solas is somehow convincing him to do so. The last message from Divine Victoria was really bittersweet to me- I can't help but feel, that it's their way of telling us we won't play as Inquisitor.
Luck in the gardens- honestly, was a bit of a letdown for me. Yes, Dorian is cool, Lord of Fortune is too, but overall... nothing breathtaking.
The dread wolf takes you- the biggest one for me. I read every word with such care, afraid to miss some double meaning. Written masterfully, and when Solas told his story- I momentarily recognized his style & it took me back to all those times I asked him of his travels in the rotunda. This story had huge implications and setup for the game. Solas have the statue. He has started the ritual. He knows about other's plans. But he clearly also is hurting and emotionally compromised- that I believe will be out trumpcard.

It felt to me like a goodbye. Attempt no travel there. let the past drive you to a new direction.
I really hope to be wrong, cause playing as inquisitor would be a dream come true.

I don’t see how that led you to thinking it’s a way they’re telling us they won’t be the protagonist. That seems more to say either Sutherland isn’t part of the Inquisition anymore, or how the Inquisition no longer officially exists. We knew that already. Edit: I mean, the last story ends with Charter writing the Inquisitor about what happened. So yeah the Inquisition is gone, either disbanded entirely or now the honor guard of Divine Victoria, but there is still the secret Inquisition.

That tidbit shared about the Tevinter mage with a prosthetic leg but doesn't hamper him and the implications of that technology being in Thedas has me more excited for DA4 than I ever have been before.

Author T. M. Lowe @tiffanymloweIs there any particular order to the stories (i.e. should they be read from beginning of book to end) or would they make sense if one skips around? Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesWe put them in the order we did because thematically it showed some elements of progression timewise, but it should still make sense in any order. No hard rules.

Caitie ghildirthalenThere was a mention of a sentient golem in the 'Bards' story. There are already discussions about how much from the story we can believe, but I just want to make sure Shale didn't die in a side story where she isn't mentioned by name ( Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesIf we were gonna take out a former follower, we'd do that by name. Definitely not her.
