I've only read 3 stories so far so basically straight-up posting to the thread and not looking at anyone's posts! Really enjoying it so far.
Three Trees to Midnight - Patrick Weekes is a great opener, a story of escape featuring a 'Vint' and 'Knife ear' chained together? Great idea, great in execution. Also, a fricking shapeshifting Elf-Halla woman!
Down Among the Dead Men - Sylvia Fektekuty - My favourite so far - interesting twist a bit into it and a strangely 'nice' (of sorts) ending for the protagonist.
The Horror of Hormak - John Epler - Wonderfully horrific and gory things, I really hope stuff like this is in DA4, as imagining them made me want to blow them all up.
Definitely feeling a theme of loss through here - first story is lost friends, second is a lost life (kinda lives on in a way, but the proper life is gone), and a lost love in the third.
Gonna read the next story Callback tonight I think!

One thing I know for certain: some people in another forum weren't quite happy knowing that Dorian went from being a flawed character (in the sense that he was pro-slavery even though he was a perfectly charming fellow) to suddenly having paid servants rather than slaves.

Doesn’t the book say that the reason he did that was after his time with the Inquisition? So it’s not like he suddenly changed.

Doesn’t the book say that the reason he did that was after his time with the Inquisition? So it’s not like he suddenly changed. To me that would make perfect sense. In his conversation with us he admits that he never even thought about the issue of slavery until he came south. Why should anyone brought up among the Tevinter elite? Whilst I was unhappy at the time that I couldn't rebuff his pro-slavery arguments more, it stands to reason that prolonged exposure to the anti-slavery stance of the majority of the inner circle would make him start to question his values. Dorian is an intelligent, thoughtful, caring individual who often demonstrated a willingness to consider another viewpoint in his exchanges with others in our party, so to be honest it would surprise me if he hadn't reconsidered his stance on slavery after his time with the Inquisition. I'd also add that in my fan fiction I have my Inquisitor lover influence him into freeing his slaves and making them paid servants instead (if that is their wish).

Dorian's aspiration is to change Tevinter for the better. It would make absolutely no sense for him to somehow be stagnant with his opinion on slavery. With that said I generally didn't have any qualms about Dorian's opinion on slavery, but it makes perfectly fine sense to me that he would change his mind about it.

Solas considers those across the sea to be dangerous enough that he advises the Inquisition to be careful of working with them.
Really makes you thonk, don't it?

Oh interesting info about the idol. Could this be the key that Solas has lost? Also, does this means Solas has something to do with the Blight, as the idol is Red Lyrium. Oh and Solas, dude, you aren't doing anything to help how Elves are perceived by the rest of the population.

I haven't seen the spoilers, just please tell me they haven't turned Solas/Dread Wolf into some sort of 'MuaHaHa!' Disney villain.

Me after reading the spoilers I'm ready to meet some Executors in DA4, though I'm unsure what to make of them: Solas says they are dangerous, and that the Inquisition should be vary of them, but is he cautious about them himself, or is he just trying to steer the Inquisition away from too much bullshit, or is this some kind of a mind game for him? Are they powerful, are they any kind of threat, who are they a threat to? Hopefully Fog Warriors will appear as well. Also suicide bombing and suicide pills? I wonder if Solas approves of this suicidebombing, or whether there's a sect of absolute fanatics that's going around blowing people up. Solas is starting to sound a bit too all powerful with crazy bullshit powers tbh. I'm not sure I like that.

Regarding Solas approving or not of the suicide-bombing: remember that Gaius in Deception traded the idol to House Danarius for information. The idol that Solas needed. Suffice to say, I don't think Solas oversees everything that's going on, and that leaves room for some bonafide fanatics to blow shit up in the name of ELVEN GLORY TM.

Most of this is good, but there are certainly a few things that bug me. I don’t know if it’s the actual story or just the person summing it up losing context, but for example the Genetivi story sounded like it confirmed the Maker isn’t real despite BioWare saying they were never going to say one way or the other.

It’s feeling as if either he’ll succeed no matter what or there is going to be a huge Deus Ex Machina, neither of which are really appealing. As for the radicals, as mentioned the elf in Deception I believe the writer even confirmed that he never met Solas but was an agent working for an agent hence taking actions Solas might not approve of. Then again his plan will kill millions so I don’t think he is in a position to judge.

Just poorly phrased. Genetivi has like an emotional crisis of faith because some of the new developments in Thedas and that they're finding don't match exactly what the Chantry teaches e.g. The Maker didn't make the Veil, Solas did. He's upset because he's spent his entire life faithfully recording all these details about everything from a very Andrastian lense, when obviously the reality of the world isn't quite as he thought. BioWare don't state anything about the reality of the Maker in there. What else needs clarified or are you confused about?

I just noticed in their games they’ve been doing more and more “all religions are fake” so was worried they were doing that with this one now despite their earlier promises. Especially with them having everything be “because ancient elves” which I’m not really a fan of. I think that’s the only part that I was confused about. The other things that concerned me are understood, like Solas being too powerful. Yeah I’m not liking that either. It’s feeling as if either he’ll succeed no matter what or there is going to be a huge Deus Ex Machina, neither of which are really appealing.
