Not exactly smooth sailing since the vaccination: I spent 24 hours in bed running a fever despite taking paracetamol (Tylenol, Calpol, Panadol). The fever just wouldn't break and the most I managed to do was shiver under the blanket. Also, muscle aches, loss of taste, sore throat and runny nose. It was like a 24 hour mini covid. Hopefully that means that the jab is working Well, one thing is for sure, your immune system is reacting to those virus bits'n pieces from the vaccine. Might feel shitty now but IMO its a good sign. That would seem to be the consensus now, thankfully. No pain no gain.
Funnily enough, it did bring back not so warm memories from a year ago. I started taking 100mg Aspirin tablets as a precaution, since there have been reports about blood clots. It is very rare of course, but you know, once bitten, twice shy.

I believe many countries are re-opening in April, or at least planning to. I just hope the cases would go down fast enough, lest we face another lockdown in the summer. That would not be nice.

Got the one-shot JnJ/Janssen vaccine yesterday. So far no side-effects other than a sore arm.👍
Edit: Crap, almost 24 hours later and, yup, running dat fever!
Edit: No fevers now just random cold sweats.

I believe many countries are re-opening in April, or at least planning to. I just hope the cases would go down fast enough, lest we face another lockdown in the summer. That would not be nice. Yeah our government is going t obe trying t oeas eup on things over the nex tcouple of months letting shops open again allow spectators t ogo bac kinto sportsgr5ounds and thing lik ethat. Likely onl yin limited number sto begin with so no capacity crowds a tWembley or anything like that yet but it's a start. But now we have vaccines in place we can now start the recovery process and get things slowly up and running again. We should be fine during the summer as viruses don't spread quite so much it's moer now cqan we ge tenou8g hvaccination o rherd immunity against the virus by the time we get to next winter as tha tw3ill be the test or are we going t obe spending moer Christmases in lockdown? Our government is hoping this will be the last time it has to order one but it doesn't mean it won't order another if it has to. They don' t wantto but with this virus anything is possible.

My wife and I got our second injection of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine today. It won't change any of our preventative behaviors; but we're happy to be better prepared for the inevitable (someday) exposure.
My wife just has the sore arm. I'm feeling sick. Nothing out of the ordinary, to be honest. My immune system hates me, so I often feel flu-like. At least this time it's part of a beneficial process!
I'm dismayed by the number of people I know, including at least one family member, who aren't getting vaccinated. It always seems to be a case of watching "America's #1 purveyors of bullshit, fear and propaganda". Sure, place your trust in a trust-fund baby, shitbird "entertainer" over career scientists and your own doctors. What could possibly go wrong? I am concerned that there are enough radicalized dumbasses in the US to harm "herd immunity" targets, to the detriment of all. I guess we'll see in the days ahead.

I am concerned that there are enough radicalized dumbasses in the US to harm "herd immunity" targets, to the detriment of all. I guess we'll see in the days ahead. We’ve been having issues here with border security staff not getting the vaccines they were entitled to weeks ago. Literally the people who come into contact with those who’ve travelled here from the US, UK and India . The PM has caught some criticism for calling a guard who hadn’t been vaccinated and had not been tested since November(!!!) a liar. They’ve said it was the Ministries responsibility or his employers responsibility to make sure he was tested every 2 weeks. Which, sure, but this clown knew he hadn’t been jabbed and hadn’t been tested and now, guess what....? He caught Covid....*shock and surprise echoes throughout the land*. So from my point of view, calling him a liar is the kindest thing she could’ve called him. Idiot should be stood down without pay and shoved to the back of the vaccination queue. I’m still some months away from having my turn, but that’s fair. Not working at the border or in hospital, nor am I “vulnerable”. But damn, when I see news like that, it makes my blood boil.

To update my vaccination experience:
I had the second injection of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine yesterday. I had a sore arm and felt ill within 8 hours. By 12 hours, I felt fully "sick". Overnight, I felt like I was heading for a flu-like state.
Sometime overnight, my fever broke and I started improving. It's approaching noon here, and I'm feeling nearly normal. My arm is vaguely sore and my throat feels vaguely irritated as it does with allergies. It was a pretty quick 24-hour cycle, going from normal to sick and back to normal.
My wife never got to feeling ill, but her arm is hurting more than mine. I'm always interested in how individuals have varied experiences from a similar starting point.
So, nothing useful here; more a personal anecdote I figured I'd share.

So if you are a bank robber these days do you now go to the front of the bank, remove your mask, go in and rob the bank and then as soon as you get outside put your mask back on and then flee?
Just trying to clarify bank robbing protocol here.........asking for a friend....

So, this is a long story. My quarantine began in May 2019. In April I fell down some stairs coming off our work trailer, and did a "full thickness tear" of the main rotator cuff on my right shoulder. Yes, I am right handed. Not looking for sympathy, but I will never physically be the same; the doctor considered it a "devastating injury". So, I was partially immobilized for several months, and then got out of the sling and started rehabilitation. I left Quarantine V1.0 in October, worked a little until the holidays, then back to work in the new year. Until mid-February, when the shutdown began for my Quarantine V2.0 (Covid-19). My work was committed to the shutdown, and didn't resume real work until September. Due to filing paper taxes for 2019, on-time but sending a payment... the IRS still has not processed our return, so we have received $0 in stimulus from Orange Man or Sleepy Joe. This, along with the cutoff of the additional unemployment bucks, meant that I needed to liquify my retirement annuity so that we could be sure to make our mortgage payments. She never stopped working. We masked up well, stayed really distant (unless I'm working I barely leave the house anymore), and neither of us got sick. She is vaccinated now, and I will be getting my first shot in a couple weeks. Long story short waaay too late - covid quarantine definitely put me in a corner, but I was sort of prepared for it. I do think all that time on my own has been good in some ways (lots of introspection) and bad in others (way too much introspection lol). My circle has been very fortunate, and I know personally only a couple people that got really ill, but those people were touch and go for a minute. Overall I rate the corner a solid meh. Edit: So if you are a bank robber these days do you now go to the front of the bank, remove your mask, go in and rob the bank and then as soon as you get outside put your mask back on and then flee? Just trying to clarify bank robbing protocol here......... asking for a friend.... Asking the real questions here, you are a good friend! As for robbing protocol, make sure you bring a Claymore shotgun and know how to reload cancel.

According to the NY Times, the British Government may approve hugging and kissing next week. I got a little change in my pocket going jing-a-ling Call you on the telephone, baby, I give you a ring But each time we talk, I get the same old thing Always, "No huggy, no kissy, 'til you get the vaccination thing" My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines and get a vax for yourself" Context:

Things are finally moving in Germany. After months of waiting, suddenly everyone is getting their shot this week:
Yesterday: my dad. Today: my boyfriend. Tomorrow: my mom.
What are the odds, lol!
All get Pfizer, very happy about that. My dad slept half of the day after the shot. So far nothing for my boyfriend. My mom is super nervous. I'll monitor her tomorrow, in case she starts feeling weird and panics.
I'll have to wait some more... I don't even qualify for registration yet. The only reason younger people are getting shots already is through their family doctor. Mine is still not participating, I think. So I'm not even on any waiting list.
I'll be SO relieved though when my mom gets her second shot (end of June). I'll finally be able to talk to her without wearing a mask and have a meal together again. Can't wait!

I'm getting my 2nd Pfizer shot tomorrow afternoon. I've planned to take Friday off, since I hear the 2nd one tends to cause more symptoms than the first. The first I just had a bruise-like soreness at the site of the injection, and I felt a little more tired than normal, but that was pretty much it. Next day was fine (except for the bruise-like feeling, but that was easy to even forget about). Best wishes for you mom and hope you get there soon!

Yeah, it takes a special kind of person to want to be around illness and death all the time. Tainted people. I was pleasantly surprised to see most people still wearing masks at the grocery store today. I still feel like a criminal walking outside in an empty park at 7am, its a surreal experience. Also, I'm so pro vaxx that I have this odd urge to just go get another one, even thought that will literally do nothing. I guess I'm looking forward to being on the booster train.

Well it's more like that they get taken for granted by the powers that be if things are going swell and then it is like "come save our asses!" when something like this happens.
Before the pandemic our provincial government was doing everything in their power to piss off the health care profession. Then this hit and they all try to be chummy again.
