My mom received her second Pfizer shot yesterday. Was a bit tired again and the 45min walk in the evening made her feel exhausted but already feeling pretty normal a day later.
Boyfriend didn't have any reaction whatsoever both times.
A coworker developed fever from his first shot and major arm pain.
So interesting how differently people react.

Back from a short vacation. We stayed at a hotel, ate out and saw the sights. Sure, the delta variant is looming large, but there was a hint of normalcy in it all.
I much prefer the Pfizer jab to the AZN one now. There were hardly any side effects: left arm was a bit sore and itchy, and that was it.

Alright, i got the second dose today (Pfizer), and i haven't fe a thing (again, darkspawn blood), not even that bit of arm pain that i got with the first shot (sore arm is it call?). Now, to sit tight for a week, and after that, i could move freely anywhere again, even if the city goes into a lockdown. With 65% of the population with at least one shot, and 54% with 2 shots, infections rates have plunged for the last 2 weeks (There have been only 2 cases of the delta variant atm). So it's looking good for change. Still, the gov is planning to give a 3rd dose to everyone who got the SinoVac vax just to reinforce things. might update...

Experienced minor side effects from my 1st Pfizer shot for about a day, 5 days after the vaccination I suddenly felt very hot and incredibly thirsty, had an elevated heart rate, could not sleep and sweat a lot. No fever though. All those symptoms lasted only for a day.
I think its from the vaccination because I did not do anything that could result in such reaction, didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and yes, I tested myself and I do not have covid.

Glad to see so many of the people here getting their vaccines! As for me, I still had a fair amount of antibodies in my blood as of April, and decided to get both vaccine jabs nonetheless. I could have opted for just one but I didn't want to deal with all the potential organizational troubles that might have occurred during international travel. Didn't have a lot of side effects both times, just a sore arm and overall tiredness. I'm so glad that almost everyone in my family now got the vaccine... I'm still worried about the Delta variant but at least now there's an important protection layer in place.

My husband is getting Astra Zeneca today. My parents have already had both doses without any drama. I have my Pfizer scheduled for mid Sept, thanks to the incompetence of the Australian govt. In the meantime, Australian police are becoming a little too Nazi-like, while taking down unmasked peeps out in the public. It's awful. Can't wait until this latest lockdown/outbreak is over.

OK, after a week now i can say that it wasn't as smooth as the first shot. After 12 or so hours after the second shot, i started to feel cold, like penguin at winter grade of cold, and i had to stay next to a heater to mitigate it (it was like chill to the bones). Next day, i woke up almost pristine, just a very light pain in the chest, but again, extremely light. The day after that, the pain grew up exponentionally, so i took 50 gr of paracetamol, and 10 min after, i felt fine as ever. Ever since, i have been business as usual. It's quite remarkable how it hits differently to each person. Now, i can finally go visit my parents, after more than a year and a half (we all are vaxd in the family, i was the last one). But do remember folks, even if you are fully inmunne, you still can carry the virus and give it to people that hasn't been vaccinated yet. So don't relax, and keep the measures up! (and do try to not travel abroad yet, the delta variant seems to pack quite the punch, vaccinated or not).

Update: my husband managed to wrangle a Pfizer combo deal for the both of us for this coming Friday. When he went in to get his AZ shot they rescheduled him because he was "too young" to get the AZ shot. The Australian Govt. has been shamed into securing a massive batch of Pfizer and making it available for immediate use also in sleepy rural areas such as ours.

Yay! Got my first Pfizer shot and not feeling any different - not sore, not feverish/fatigued or anything. I was looking forward to hiding under a blanket and watching netflix for the next two days but have way too much energy. The Delta variant is getting out of control in my state's capital city (Sydney) though Hope all of you and your fellow countrymen/women are faring well.

Received my second Pfizer shot yesterday. No side effects again. Not sure if that's good or bad. But considering that everyone I know personally who got it didn't feel a thing either, I'll just assume that's actually normal. And that people who get fever and chills and whatnot are the minority or got Astra.

My India Lover managed to get his first dose of Covishield last week. Just a huge sigh of relief, unearned. Efficacy of single covishield is lame. And MAYBE he can get the 2nd dose in 4 weeks, and MAYBE he can fly to a country that isn't banned by the US, and MAYBE I can see him in September. But if he can't get the 2nd dose in 4 weeks, the next window number is actually almost 3 months after first dose which would shift everything to December. Can I just hold him in real life please? it's been 16 months

Several countries have approved it for arriving travellers, so at least there's that.

Why is it so different?? And what does it mean? Unfortunately, no idea at the moment. I'm thinking adverse effect reporting should have been given more thought and make it more accessible.

This Delta variant is fucking terrifying.
I don't know how many people on here get news from Fiji (guessing not many), but they've just reported 1220 cases in a single day, a total of 11033 active cases and a running total of 74 deaths, which, I understand, probably doesn't sound like much to some, but Fiji has population of under 1 million. They have more active cases and deaths than New Zealand (population 5+ million) has total - 2723 lifetime cases and 26 deaths.
Unlike the countries most of us are from, they don't have significant medical and health infrastructure, so people who do get sick have a far greater chance of getting seriously ill or dying.

BioNTech is supposedly developing a special delta-variant of their Comirnaty vaccine, claiming that it won't take long since their formula is modular enough to allow for easy modifications. This might be used for a third shot for people most at risk. We'll see what's going to come from it...
Fun fact: BioNTech's address contains the street name "An der Goldgrube", meaning "at the gold mine".

I heard conflicting things about the Delta variant, but many sources claim its far less dangerous than the ''original'' Covid variant since it does not affect the lungs and mainly stays in the nasopharyngeal zone. But so far nobody seems to have solid data about the exact symptoms and mortality.

The problem is, even if it's less deadly, it's more contagious. Which means more people get it which means more people die even if overall mortality is low.
What I don't understand is why so many people in Africa die where the population is so young. Aren't severe symptoms in young people super rare?

But so far nobody seems to have solid data about the exact symptoms and mortality. Don't believe sources, unless they are super reliable, like The Lancet.
If anything, Delta is far more dangerous than earlier variants. There was a recent study in Scotland:
"In summary, we show that the Delta VOC in Scotland was found mainly in younger, more affluent groups. Risk of COVID-19 hospital admission was approximately doubled in those with the Delta VOC when compared to the Alpha VOC, with risk of admission particularly increased in those with five or more relevant comorbidities."
This isn't over folks, you can catch Delta, fully vaccinated or not.

Precisely. why so many people in Africa die where the population is so young. You kind of answered this already. The more people get infected, the more they die. Lack of proper healthcare means that underlying conditions go undetected and people don't self- quarantine isolate when they should.
