I played a bit more tonight. Two-thirds of my time was spent paused and paying attention to my pup; but he's awesome, so it's okay.
Even with the hurdles, I've completed most of the Sciropescire arc. It's really not that long. The big surprises are yet to come, but that's all that's left.
It was nice to get back into a groove. I switched back to dual handaxes for a while, just for variety. I wish it didn't take so long to get the good seaxes. I haven't yet been able to play a dual-seaxes speed/crit build.
I was leveling really quickly tonight, adding double digits in skills in less than two hours. I saw that they've raised the ceiling on mastery points and that we're getting new skills very soon. The icons are already visible on the edges of the tree.

This isn't a no question, lol. Odyssey bores me after 20 hours of playing it, not so with Valhalla. The open world, quest design and writing is way more engaging in Valhalla to me. While Odyssey didn't bore me until I was well into Atlantis DLC (and still finished for the sake of finishing, but OMG), I also find Valhalla more engaging. The abruptness of the ending of the main family story in Odyssey kind of retroactively ruined the game for me to a large extent. I guess now I need to have sympathy for all those people who hate ME3 just because of the ending I could see one day replaying Valhalla, but probably not Odyssey, despite much of the main story being quite engaging. Neither Odyssey nor Valhalla is boring for me. Odyssey is admittedly trying, only with the Atlantis DLC though. It's focused too much on making the player use the demi-god and climbing abilities as much as possible. It's a lot of padding for an hour or two of story in each region, some of which is poorly written. Like I said, the AC writers really need to change their style of putting out the main dish and disregarding the side dishes and desserts. Valhalla is an improvement but they're still forgetting the niceties that make the meal wholesome and more enjoyable. It's fortunate they can write likeable main characters. The one AC game I found boring is Origins. Bayek is fine as a MC but I find his journey boring (I couldn't finish the game). I'm not taken with the seeking revenge for death of son thing. It just doesn't touch me. Even though his interactions with his son was shown etc, I'm still not touched / involved. The weird thing is I love Egyptian stuff, historical stuff for that matter. Yet I found no joy in wandering around Egypt. Egypt is more than their religion, mummies and pyramids. I can't recall any SQ that's a revelation on the common Egyptian. More often than not, common is the complaint; I was robbed of etc, I was hounded for / by ABC, my hubby / goods / child is / are missing, etc.

dazk, that's the same hair I liked on her, but in dark brown. I didn't stick with her long enough to cycle through colors. My make Eivor this PT has the same "dark brown fancy hair", along with the short, unbraided beard. He looks a lot different from my "ginger/original hair/combed beard" of last PT. I like them both. Each sort of looks better with different gear.

Mine was empty, as I imagine we haven't yet gotten those resources to target. I saw that merchants now provide better transparency on what we're buying. Gear has stats and some items have pics. It's about time. I've never seen 95% of the tattoos, since I won't buy unseen while I still have other needs.

Can never quite get a good picture of her Yeah, it's difficult to get a good picture of her outside of cutscenes for me, too. I don't know if it's that the camera can't zoom in enough without getting distorted, or that the character models seems oddly low resolution even at moderate distances, or something else I can't pinpoint. I finally got seven 's Jomsviking! He got to help row me around as I went after the Father, and went on one random river raid. Hopefully he'll get more use after the seasonal content comes out. The Father's reveal... ...was paced better than Aspasia's only because I didn't have as many underlings to root out before I could go get him.
I expected something more from his study, too. It's cool to see that he started what would become the Templars (kind of?), but clearly Ubisoft has a real problem concluding their stories properly. I still feel left hanging a bit by the ending. Maybe it would have felt less odd if the Order ending had tied in with the Sigurd ending in any way at all. Instead it's just...ok, now you have nothing left to do in the game, so go talk to Aelfred again I guess. He's a baker now. A bad one. Still, I enjoyed the game and I'll probably be back to find Excalibur at some point, and certainly will come back for the seasonal content (which hasn't gone live yet, has it?) and the DLCs.

Boy the patch sure seemed to improve optimization. At max settings I'm getting 70 FPS. That's better than what I was getting in Odyssey.

I tried the red but it wasn't red enough, I also tried black because someone said after they tried that they couldn't go back to any other colour (maybe dragontartare or azarhal) but it didn't work for me because of the whole Nordic thing. Same reason I have playing stealth, it just doesn't seem the Viking way.

So I did forget to mention, as I suspected, the skill trees do start to expand out the more points you pump into them. Though what's frustrating is you really also have to follow the through lines of the constellations to get to the right ones. Which they are a bit hard for me to see, a lot of planning and a lot of squinting and a lot of trying to get to advanced assassination. Which I guess the new patch also took out the QTE requirement? Also I know the Raven Clan armor is probably suitable to the Raven playstyle..but it does not seem like the armor tells you which playstyle it which I swore those things did. Of course I could be mistaken about it and it could just be a matter of player preference what armors work best for what play styles. Of course I would want to be doing the Wolf playstyle the most...but I do not like the wolf armor with the skins and stuff...so I would take any suggestions of good Wolf Armor to look out for. The one where we assault Kjotve's Fortress *the theme song to Friends starts playing* Actually I am very amused that this is how I am going to be dealing with quests whose name I do not remember from the previous night while talking about it, Friend's style, with the least spoilers as possible. Right off the bat I was in for a bit of a shock when I started the quest. And it makes sense for why the quest icon actually moved.
Apparently time matters and time has weight. When Sigurd said we'd start the attack tonight...he meant it. So all my open world exploration and finding books and ingots and mysteries and stuff actually had an effect on my progression in the quest. It was well balanced enough to where this did not really fail the quest, but people were still doing their own thing. And I know this because I watched Rad Brad and he did rush right to the start of the assault. But afterwards they made comments, Siguurd and co chastised me for being a little late and missing out.
I'm starting to not like the boss fights in this game. Granted I suspect this is also because I have a low power level right now but a lot of them just are reminding me of the Arishock boss fight where I just run around in a circle waiting for chances to strike..lots of running around. It was a bit of a pleasant surprise though when Kjotve could block arrow strikes, or at least most of them. But I still got him done in the first try. Got a few nice dagger strikes in.
Then the next thing which happened, the actual battle as we begin the actual siege of the actual fortress. At first I was a bit confused but it was quickly confused...because as I was attacking the mooks running around I was not gaining experience...I was wondering if it was just acruing it in the background like a conquest battle, but no when I took a LT. it gave me more XP. It does make a bit of sense, don't want to be able to farm those badguys for XP. After that I did get the Mark of Death skill book and Arikstad I tink the name of the place is? And did some puttering around.

According to Darby, after you kill Ragnar's 6 Drengir, there is supposed to be a quest that leads you to the snake pit where Ragnar died. I've never gotten the quest, and neither had those who had chimed in on that thread. Has anyone here gotten this quest? Darby McDevitt @darbymcdevittThere should be a whole quest around this. When you find and eliminate all of the Drengir. Did you not get this? I actually want to know if it's working properly. A quick youtube search comes up with nothing. Because there's a replay of Ragnar's death at that pit! It's well worth the effort.

Played a lot yesterday, about 6 hours and spent most of it clearing and doing the story line of Hemmingr Jarl and deciding who would be come Jarl. This was a really good story, plenty to it and plenty of meat on the bone and I had a hard time deciding who to choose. in the end I went with Trygve because I hoped it would give him something to live for and because Vili clearly did not want to. Eivor stayed true to her hope of romancing Randvi even though she really did want to sleep with Vili when they spent the night in the cave. Did some fun side quests, did a Flyting match where I perfectly defeated a very funny and very flirting guy Stigr The Amorous who was rewarded for his solicitations and flirting with some private time behind the barn with Kass. Said Stigr Did a standing stone puzzle, my fastest yet, made stone cairns of rocks to protect a little girl. Must have been hard in those days to head off hunting or whatever and leave your child alone given the risks you may not return due to the hazards of wolves and bandits. Especially if the volumes of the damn wolves are accurate in this game!!!!! Vili and Trygve I liked the Seer of the Hemmingr clan she is even weirded than Valka I was surprised by this fight I really like Sunniva, wish she was a romance option This quest took me a bit to figure it out, didn't have too much trouble but the Harpoon ability has become my go to in nearly every hard fight 3 glitched Opals for me in this area, this was the weirdest one Some beautiful scenery in Snottinhamscire Bumped into a group of merry men and women in Sherwood Forest

Did some fun side quests, did a Flyting match where I perfectly defeated a very funny and very flirting guy Stigr The Amorous who was rewarded for his solicitations and flirting with some private time behind the barn with Kass. Someone still has Odyssey on the brain... This quest took me a bit to figure it out, didn't have too much trouble but the Harpoon ability has become my go to in nearly every hard fight Extra fun if you can yeet them off a cliff. 3 glitched Opals for me in this area, this was the weirdest one Check the shrubs, maybe it's Baby Yoda "Grogu". LOL re the Kass error, as much as I like Eivor (and she is growing on me more and more) I really miss Kass. I don't get the baby Yoda thing have not watched the movie. That is the weirdest Opal glitch though it is probably 20 metres in the air.
