Hrungr, I killed all the drengr and did see the pit, but there was no story or quest to it. I wouldn't have even noticed the pitcif Eivor hadn't made a quick comment on it. It was very brief and I had other goals, so I can't recall any useful details. I completed Sciropescire today. Ugh. What an asshole that idea was. Went home to Ravensthorpe and was 10 raw materials short of a building, so still level 4. Reda's quests took me to familiar, but slightly less over-used, areas. After Reda's contracts were finished, I began the trip to Cent. I killed Zealots, completed world events and raided several places along the way. I met up with Basim in Cent and got the initial quid pro quo started. I decided to explore western Cent/Eastern Suthsexe a little before bed, and saved after a few more world events and treasure hauls. I've not had any bugs, yet, that prevent me from reaching 100% completion. The bugged treasures in Oxenefordscire were fixed when I returned to try again a few days ago. I completed two world events in Essexe and Cent that were bugged for me the first time. So far so good. I'm in that place where I'm itching to upgrade more stuff to Mythical, but the story hasn't yet taken me to Tungsten rich areas. I'll likely hit them sooner this time, since I'm progressing the story far more efficiently. I'm only now building up a less-than-pathetic Rare Rune collection, so I guess I can afford to way. dazk, if female Eivor had as great a VA as Kass, I'd be playing her now. Setting aside the fact that Melissanthi has a beautiful voice, she also delivered a flawless performance. We get the same in Valhalla, but it's from Magnus Bruun. Perfect voice, delivery, eveything; but not for the "canonical" character. Sigh. I'm perfectly happy to regard him as the true Eivor when I play, but it sucks that Cecilie's performance is so awkward and stilted. Ugh.

At first I found the voice a bit distracting but I think I have become used to it and it doesn't bother me s much if at all anymore. I guess she's supposed to be the solid stoic type and so a bit emotionless but the glimpses of humour and enjoyment are all the richer for it I think. It was fun her playfulness with Ass Stick.

Speaking of which I killed my first Drengir today, took me three times in total. The first two times he wiped the floor with me and the third time though I was able to get him and was able to use my abilities...since it does seem to be weird that bosses when they hit you can drain your adrenaline. Also I do wonder how Mark of Death works when you are targeting a single opponent, I know it can work and that they can multi target the one person but just wondering how the target selection works. I was able to grind him down a bit and then stun him. Of course a panic reaction happened because part of the cave, a shelf, blocked me and him from view, I tried to fight with him down there since he was almmmmooosstt out of health but alas he held strong so I panick dodged back into the light. But I got him. BirthrightsSo I do imagine this is very much the spark notes version of what King Harold was able to do to unite Norway. If that is what he even was able to do in the first place. But this did seem pretty fast and I imagine IRL he was having to lay the ground work for this for months. Afterall you don't just snap your finger like that. And of course as I might have mentioned Eivor and Sigurd's reaction to the news is a little off putting. Though I guess I can understand wanting to live your own life...but then they basically do Harold's plan in England anyways.
This quest has given me my first two instances of actual RP issues I can point to. First when we were trying to get Gorm out I chose to want to kill him but despite my desires Harold had him exiled. Which does make a tad bit of sense since Eivor didn't have any actual authority there in the first place but on the other hand it makes it even more obvious we will be running into the worm later. The other big incident though was far more annoying. Harold I think asks you why you do, what you seek with three options, Vahalla, Sigurd, and I think searcing...I chose Vahalla and Eivor said something about a glorious death but then after that mentioned that she would stick by sigurd no matter what, IDK just a little off putting to me. Seas of ChangeAm I the only one who thought the set up for this quest was a bit ridiculous?
"OK Everyone now that we have agreed to depart these lands for the greener pastures of England...BUT ALAS WE MUST BE CAREFUL TO NOT DRAW ATTENTION TO OURSELVES"
*everyone leaves through the same door at the same time*
Of course the other issue is that Harald's forces are really portrayed as sinister and they want to move in the shadows and there is a lot of distrust there...which on some level makes sense...but also...why? We have seen nothing too sinister from Harald or his forces at this point but yet the game is laying it on very thick that there is tension there. The PresentDon't have a proper name for this so you will have to forgive me and I did wrap up the night by starting out in here.
Now I was spoiled on this a little on the 'inhibitor' chip...and that is obviously what was glowing on her neck when she was staring at the staff of Hermes. And Layla...to go on my previous comments on the bleeding effect...she does not look like she is in good shape. And she is smoking.
Also on my way out I did spy the entry on the staff of Hermes and read through it and that was...interesting. Because Layla clearly remembers, and is allowed to remember, her being the Heir of Memories and the existence of the staff...so what is the chip inhibiting? And I think its the death of Victoria at her hand and I am also thinking that is going to be maybe part of what it means for her to be the 'Heir of Memory'. Remembering what she did, and coming to terms with it.

This video shows what the three new skills are after the update: Assassin Carry: Hold a button to automatically carry a body after an assassination. - This is straight-up useless to me. I think I may have hid a grand total of ONE body during my entire playthrough. Arrow Looter: Eivor has a greater chance to loot arrows from archers. - Yay? I guess? Fight Ready: Always start a fight with an Adrenaline Slot filled. - Certainly the most useful of the three.

There are also 3 new skills that stem from the auto assign skills thing, but I don't know how to unlock it.

Re Layla I think it is to inhibit her emotional outbursts and I thought the staff was there in a cabinet or something.

So did the two daily's for Reda first yesterday, they were to free a woman and to kill a target. I did the kill a target first and set about eliminating every other guard in the camp first and then killed the target. This turned out to be a good plan as the rescue was at the same camp which meant when I went to do it there was absolutely no guards there. Then did the weekly which was simply to kill some guy and got bonus XP by killing his friends. Then on to Jorvik which I finished, I liked Ljufvina, Jorr really didn't festure much, the King Rescvige or something like thatseemed a bit of an ass hat and the three members of the order were as obvious as. Anyway helped the good guys by running all over the place and killed the bad guys. Then headed to Sussexe and did a bit of icon cleaning up before the main mission and had a few frustrations and if anyone can tell me how I get to this one I'd appreciate it. There appears to be an opening in the wall behind it but you are blocked from reaching the opal. Stumbled on Aelfreds Battle Cows
Question did i make a mistake pledging to Sussexe too soon? I saw Randvi first and pledeged to Sussexe but then saw Hytham who said I should see Randvi about Northumshire I think. When you meet Guthram (?) he implies you have to o few troops, should I have done Nothumshire before Sussexe? Started the first part of the main quest by searching for the scouts but the game crashed three times looking for the first scout. So called it quits. I liked Ljufvina Very obvious bad dudes and dudess

(I don't think they're going to let me win twice in the same year... ) Well that wouldn't be fair, best is best there should not be a quota on winning!!!!! Should i return to Ravensthorpe, currently in Sussexe. How does the Yuletide thing work do you activate it or does it just happen?

Well I logged in to check it out...and I ended up recruiting seven's jomsviking, so not a waste that much I guess.
Looks like I have 20 days to do mini-games too. I'm so not feeling this.

I think I've finished all the different storylines and therefore the game. It was okay. Eivor was okay. I enjoyed the game enough, I suppose.
I found the combat to be meh. While I enjoyed not having to do ship battles I didn't much like the longship. Raids were boring after like...2. I still have a ton of stuff to clean up on the map. I may do it. At some point. I stopped doing the anomalies after like...7. I hated them in AC3 and I still hate them. I'll look the cutscenes or whatever up and see them that way.
I know this sounds like I didn't like the game, but I did. It just...isn't Assassin's Creed and I'm getting discouraged waiting for it to be Assassin's Creed again. Origin is still the best of the last 3 games imo (even though Odyssey combat is best of the 3).
Maybe next game will return to assassins. But I won't hold my breath.
Now I'll wait on dlc and ME remastered.

Hrungr , I killed all the drengr and did see the pit, but there was no story or quest to it. I'm only now building up a less-than-pathetic Rare Rune collection, so I guess I can afford to way. dazk , if female Eivor had as great a VA as Kass, I'd be playing her now. Ugh. The more I play Eivor the more I like her. I found the voice more distracting the longer I played as her. She's so inconsistent. If I play through again I'll try male Eivor I guess.

I popped in to check out the Festival but ouch, that last patch must have did something bad to my fps. I'm getting drops of up to 20fps in some locations now that previously I had no issues in. Also from what I did try the event is quite buggy, floating fighters and getting stuck on something invisible in the fight pit and quest markers not being at all in the right locations for the missions related to it. Hopefully they can fix these soon.

The PresentSo my fan theory about what was up with Layla lasted about 5 minutes. . Turns out she does very much remember who Victoria is and what she did to her. Though the second part of my theory could still bare some fruit as there is a definite undercurrent of atonement/ learning to come to grips with it and put it in its proper context. In that vain to there was a couple of interesting exchanges based on that too. First of Layala mentioned how she tried to fight the Staffs influence in Odyssey which my initial thought was essentially 'you did no such thing!' which she didn't. Not really and not entirely. Of course there could still be an inner voice and then the her which was being manipulated by the staff was more on the outside thing going on...but I do have to wonder if this falls under the category of a legitimate retcon. And then the second thing was the conversation between Layla and Becca where she was complaining about headaches and stuff and Becca was like 'you aren't making excuses for your friend' and of course Layla said no. Most obviously this is referring again to Victoria but it seemed like such a non sequitor that I almost have to wonder if something else is going on. The other neat bit of the sequence though was hearing all the background lore. Now I have seen and read and watched bits of the previous AC games so I have a passing familiarity with a lot of what is going on, not an 'expert' by any stretch of the imagination but still quite well versed in some aspects. So it was nice hearing from Desmond and eerie that the log we got was him waxing very philosophical...two days before his death. But it also mentions 'what he did to Lucy'. Now again only a passing familiarity with the series pre Odyssey but I seem to remember Lucy from that lore video I watched and that she was a sort of Templar like triple agent going on. But what is curious here is...well has Ubi done the whole 'protagonist kills friend under influence of Isu tech?' UninvitedNow I am not sure because weirdly it seems that this quest started off as one name and then finished as another...so I might be talking about two quests here.
Had my first big bug. I phased through the wall while trying to kill someone who spawned when I broke the chain system. And I couldn't get out...so I had to reload. But the rest of this went swimmingly.
And I got to Ravensthorpe and met the slaves of the Saxon bandits... So I am going to try and get Redda ASAP and I am just wondering if I should go through the story, or if I can go through the open world to do that. Anyways, off to raiding Monstaries.
