VentureBeat claims we're going to get a MET Remaster "Legendary Edition"

Yeah it’s almost certainly just a remaster. A remake would have taken a lot more and with it being out as soon as that article says I feel there would have been some hints.

With RE2 and FF7 being the standard I'd prefer a remake, but whatever. More Mass Effect is awesome.

If it's happening, it's outsourced. It'll boil down to it being a graphics pack of a game people already own. MET is already out, people probably already have the DLC as well and the Series X is backward compatible up to and including the original XBOX. MET will play upsampled and with all the goodies on the Series X and you probably already own it, alongside with all the DLC, which you've already payed and own and don't need to rebuy them for $60. If you've got a laptop, you can play it with mods on a Intel Integrated HD 630 and it's a better experience, overall. Especially ME3.

I don't see this having the audience Bioware or EA wants it to. I have heard about it, but I don't see the point to it and didn't follow it. Seems unexpected to have it ready to ship by the end of the year, as well, or even Q1 2021, but if it's been outsourced, it could?

Seems like it's legit, though? Well, we'll see. I've no interest in it, though. Imagine going through ME3 without EGM etc. None of the old mods will be compatible and will need to be remade for the new versions. Not gonna bother with it, personally. Maybe it will generate some interest, but I guess it will get buried under next gen titles. Nobody's going to want to play a 10 year old game that they most certainly already got, with some updated textures and maybe a better version of UE3, over the new games coming out with the consoles.

I agree, I am not sure if this is more then a "maybe they will shut up about it" tactic.  If they are outsourcing it and doing minimal work, I don't think it would have to sell many copies to break even.  The one group of people that I can see being interested in this are the Playstation owners just because they don't have the joy of the backwards compatibility.  As far as is it possible to ship in the next year its possible if somehow there weren't any leaks.

Personally I might have some bargain basement price level interest in this if the games get full controller support, for then I can play the games not just on my gaming PC, but my TVPC too.  No way I would pay initial pricing for it since I already own all three games with all their DLC.

People who have been demanding a "remake" actually expect them to rewrite the ending and completely alter the story to their own personal whims. That will never happen.
