Except all the people who hated the idea of a prequel when asked about it.

People want a sequel sure, but that group is split into many warring factions.

A form of sequel many would love is a form of sequel many would also hate. 

I think there is a far better chance of a retooling of Andromeda to fit the framework of the first three games over them resurrecting Shepard and making him into Space Jesus: Reloaded Part 2: The Cerberus Files.

Yes, for it could have just as easily shown there was interest in the franchise still and then signaled them to do a full blown remaster with the DLC.  Its no different then people buying a remaster with the DLC and then the game indicating good sales for a new sequel.

I think it's best to go with a prequel. You could include characters from the OG games(Anderson, Hackett, Saren) and Andromeda(um Alec Ryder I guess) so everyone will be happy.

I agree, but as I was mentioning before I see people only see "Mass Effect Rema...." and then start listing their personal wishlist of things they want to be changed in the game.  Even then when you try to tell them that its just a remaster so its probably just going to be better graphics and compatibility they get upset and then start calling it a cash grab and other things because they aren't getting what they want.  I am pretty sure that follows with a loud stomping down the hall and a door slamming, but that could be just my imagination.

I just don't see how this isn't going to be anything but a PR disaster because the moment its released you will have places like Reddit fire up the complaining, then YouTube "content creators" and then finally "news" sites will pick up on it for the clicks.
