Please don't retcon Andromeda out. I don't see how a MET remaster would do that. The only connections between MET and Andromeda are established by the latter, so it's already isolated enough.
Looking forward to that ME1 remaster provided they put some real effort behind it, and by effort I mean giving those generic bunkers a makeover.
I wonder if EA won't try to copy 343 and release one game at a time? That might keep the hype going for a few months.

Theyre only doing that with PC. The MCC for Xbox came out with CE, CEA, 2, 2A, 3, and 4 all at the same time. The only ones added to that were ODST and Reach. I imagine they’d release it as a complete Shepard Trilogy.

What else is EA planning to release in the short term that could pack a similar punch? I can't think of a single title. Like I said, it could keep the buzz going for a while, like what could've happened if Netflix had released The Witcher on a weekly basis instead of all at once, the same with Amazon and The Expanse. However, your guess is far more likely.

I like to replay Mass Effect every once in a while, so my choice for CPU in my next PC depends on whether they'll fix the AMD issue in ME1. This could save me some money.

Honestly, if this is true, I'm not actually sure whether or not I'll bu it, I played the OT to death & back, plus, with how many hours I sank into the MP, I'm not sure I'd want to start from scratch again, if it even is a thing, so I'll wait until its either confirmed or denied & go from there, but atm, thinking...nah

People who have been demanding a "remake" actually expect them to rewrite the ending and completely alter the story to their own personal whims. That will never happen. I agree, but as I was mentioning before I see people only see "Mass Effect Rema...." and then start listing their personal wishlist of things they want to be changed in the game. Even then when you try to tell them that its just a remaster so its probably just going to be better graphics and compatibility they get upset and then start calling it a cash grab and other things because they aren't getting what they want. I am pretty sure that follows with a loud stomping down the hall and a door slamming, but that could be just my imagination. I just don't see how this isn't going to be anything but a PR disaster because the moment its released you will have places like Reddit fire up the complaining, then YouTube "content creators" and then finally "news" sites will pick up on it for the clicks. Maybe they could even just try to use the word “remaster” sparingly, and just promote it as just being the Mass Effect trilogy. There were people who thought the Extended Cut was going to actually make bigger changes to the ending, even though “Extended Cut” does not imply any such thing.

I've got MET on Xbox and heavily modded on PC. While I too would prefer a MET remake, instead of a MET remaster, I'd still buy a MET remaster for Xbox immediately.
However I'd love to have A NEW Mass Effect game, no matter if Andromeda 2, a MET sidequel, spinoff etc.

From a purely commercial move, is a good one: relatively little resource consuming, new money from either nostalgic fans or people who don't have anymore their old copyes, and people who never played the serie before and only have current systems to play on. Plus a good way to keep the serie's name alive in the public memory.
I would have preferred a Jade Empire remaster, but as long as DA4 continue its journey, I'm fine.

Do we really need a simple remaster ? NO. Remake will be good option, not remaster. 2 days ago i've finished modded ME1 and ME2. Yesterday i've modded ME3 - from 30GB up to 105GB and started late evening - absolutely stunning and completely different experience.
ME modding community makes excellent job in recent years, i couldn't believe when i saw that not long time ago they even re-done all the movies from MET trilogy in 1080p/4K.

Mehh... Not interested... While I loved Mass Effect to pieces, I just got burned out on the old trilogy. I've played it too many times to the point I dont even care any more. Even if it would get a stunning graphic overhaul, I am afraid I am going to hate every minute of forcing myself through the same old, same old again for the nxxx'th time. Don't get me wrong. The trilogy is great, but I just played it too many times. As said - I'm burned out of it. If they would make that desperately needed add-on story for Mass Effect Andromeda, it would be a whole other story. I would welcome it with open arms. However - As that is not the case I lost my interest. While I think it's great for those people that would like play the whole thing in HD, for me it's nothing to look forward too. I simply cannot force myself to play that old stuff again, even if it gets super HD photographic quality.
Now - If they do an super HD remaster of Dragon Age Origins I would be interested, but the ME trilogy?
Nah... Pass...

The one group of people that I can see being interested in this are the Playstation owners just because they don't have the joy of the backwards compatibility. As true as that might be, I would include others playing on different platforms. There are folks out there who never played the trilogy, for whatever reason, who would likely get the remaster. How many people played MEA without playing the trilogy? Those folks may get the trilogy. Then there's the one's who have already played the trilogy, but not played any of the dlc. Buying each dlc seperately would likely be more expensive then buying a remaster, so they get the remaster. Of course there will be ones who have played the games and dlc who just want to buy a remaster to have a newer copy. Then you have the online folks. ME3's multiplayer did very well. When I was at the game store however long ago, I saw a guy trading in ME3. I asked him if he liked the game. He didn't care about the single player portion, but liked the multiplayer part. He and a bunch of his friends buy games that offer multiplayer. How many others are there like that out there?
Overall I would say a remaster would sell well. I've also said it would sell better then MEA. And depending on how well it sells, it might be enough for EA to encourage Bioware to make an ME4 with Shepard.

Anyway, if this is true I think it is about checking if this brand is still popular with fans. I don't think this will produce anything conclusive. Chances are the people who care already bought it and aren't interested in buying again, for another $60. On PC it will not be compatible with the mods we already have on it, so there will be little incentive to buy an experience that won't live up to what we already have. The XBOX version of the trilogy is compatible with the Series X and will get a lot of AMD's new features making it an experience that will behave better than the remaster and the only possible audience you might have, is the PS5 one. This will be lucky to sell 200k copies on PS5 owners, because ME's fanbase wasn't on the PS to begin with. It was on PC and XBOX. It will make a profit, because this is literally a 5k job, as I understand it, but this won't string up any new interest and it will be a bad way to measure it as well. Unless Bioware/EA expects us to buy it to show our support, but it hasn't been communicated to us, nor is it a promise that we will like what comes next. If Bioware doesn't communicate back with us, this will fall short of Bioware/EA's expectations.

HD in this context just means it's a PC/Console game and not a mobile one. With this in mind, it could be any non sports EA title, that doesn't pertain to ME trilogy remaster. It could even be the Anthem relaunch, or Jedi Fallen Order 2 or anything, really.

I don't see the number of people that you think will buy it. Mass Effect is popular in some circles, but enough time has passes that those people will have bought it. There probably will be new people interested in the games, but I don't see that being a very large number either and I don't see it outselling Andromeda. There is also the competition for playing Mass Effect on EA access for $5 a month for the basic versions of those games and EA did a trilogy pack around the time of Mass Effect 3 and if that had done well enough I would have expected a remaster around that time.

Like most game development I won't believe it until if I want it I can get my hands on it, but if true I hope if it does badly it doesn't kill the franchise.

I wonder if they might include content that didn't make it into the original Mass Effect? Almost non-existent chance to no chance. Even if there is content that didn't make it into the games it would have some portion that is in an incomplete state that I doubt they could finish and make it feel like it belongs in the game, that would also be going into the area of a remake and not remaster for my expectations would stop at upgraded resolution for graphics and maybe a new menu.

I don't see the number of people that you think will buy it. That's fine. Time will tell. Why do you say that? I would agree some might have, but not all. Time will tell. I know nothing about the ea access thing. You mean the trilogy pack that was released Nov 2012? And you would have expected a remaster if it sold well? Why? All dlc weren't released yet.
