As I said above, my only insight into how EA conducts business with it's studios is from articles and dev interviews. And most those that I have read, no matter if it was from the perpective of devs or journalists state that it's usually the studios that pitch to EA, not so much the other way round. If that's true, all you need from EA is to say yes. I'm with you, I wish it were so, I just don't expect it to be so.

I think BioWare as a company needs to get one thing under control first and that is how they plan out the development cycle. There is only one BioWare title according to AskAGameDev that shipped on time and that was Dragon Age 2 (and that game was mostly a crunch game). I think for any real improvement the first big hurdle for BioWare is to be able to plan out a game's development cycle accurately and not just hope it comes together. I know its a complicated process, but there needs to be some learning that they are always underestimating how long things will take.
To me I wish it a way it would go back to be more like Mass Effect 1 for it was a far simpler game then anything they have made since EA and then just expand on sequels or DLC instead of thinking they can do everything and then it becoming impossible to do so.

My main wish list item for a remaster would be to make the default Femshep from ME3 also available in ME1 and 2. My secondary one would be to add back in the deleted same sex romances from ME1 and 2 that were cut (Kaidan and Ashley in ME1, Thane and Tali in ME2). Ha, ha, I want the exact opposite...default fem-shep from 1 and 2 available in 3. I doubt a remaster will be anything more than a graphics overhaul but if I were going to wish for anything it would be ME3 combat in all 3 games (I know, I'm dreaming). Honestly, either would be fine with me, I just want there to be a default femshep option that's carried seamlessly through all 3 games and splashed all over the promotional art like there is with maleshep so she feels like as much a "canon" part of the game as broshep.

Witcher 3 did motion capture on certain places where story and cutscenes take place. So, I don't see the issue of doing the same thing with Mass Effect. Only to make it better than Witcher 3. Of course it won't be easy, but if they have a lot of dev time and resources they can definitely pull it off. And that's really the issue. Yeah, there's no doubt there's considerable room for improvement, but it's important to remember that BW doesn't have the money and resources to put towards their games like CDPR, Rockstar, or Ubisoft. Sylvia from BW made the point recently that not all AAA productions can hit the scope/fidelity of those studios that can put 1,000+ devs on it (and obv. huge budgets to go along with it), so manage expectations accordingly. Even if everything were to go perfectly for BW on a game, they just don't have the resources to compete with (let's call them 'AAAA') studios with 3x the staff and budget. Then they need to get their team together if they wanted to put high quality work in their games. It's time for them to put up or shut up.

Every business has a budget and operates on deadlines. Sometimes they have a release window too, where they can't ship their game at the same time as other games. It has to be specific. Obviously, you cannot comprehend. I simply stated that they can improve animations and gameplay by motion capture. Simple as that.

Then they need to get their team together if they wanted to put high quality work in their games. It's time for them to put up or shut up. I think you're missing a greater problem with Bioware; you can make a great game, that nobody buys. If you can make a great game, make the great game, but make it in a way that people will buy it. Market interest, public reception and critical reception of Bioware are at an all time low. Which altogether leads to the creation of a very negative climate for whatever Bioware does. Right now, Bioware can be viewed as two things; a property that needs to be invested further in and grown, because you've paid too much for it, like Disney is currently doing with Star Wars, or as a liability that needs to be cut sooner, rather than later. Bioware's reputation needs to be fixed and it needs to be fixed yesterday. Anthem NEXT and DA4 are each, at best, two years away at the earliest and the MET texture pack won't fix it.

Motion capture is really expensive, which as I said, would add to their budget. They only had so much money to work with and a lot of it was spent during the first three and a half years they were going in circles development wise. Given the sheer amount of animations in Andromeda, they used an algorithm to do it. Some stuff was done by hand, yes. However, a lot of it used an algorithm.

To spring off the fem shep in marketing thing - I really hope we get some good box art. I'd be kinda disappointed if the trilogy is represented by a typical focus tested buzz cut guy looking out into the vague distance.

This might seem minor but I want Diana Allers replaced by a choice (*gasp*) between Kalisah al Jilani and Emily Wong. Ah yes, Diana 'I have no purpose to be in ME3' Allers. At least she's an option to have her on the ship or not. Can say the same for Alenko. It's funny how t'soni and Vakarian can be taken to Sur'kesh and remember Kirrahe, even though both never met him, depending on the playthrough, whereas Williams/Alenko/Tali are gauranteed to know him. Maybe when they remake ME3, that could change. Even if the game didn't show Kirrahe meeting Garrus and Liara he's on the Normandy for a time after Virmire if he survives, they could have talked to him while he was onboard Ah yes, Diana 'I have no purpose to be in ME3' Allers. At least she's an option to have her on the ship or not. It was sad how much of her character was cut, since from that list she had a lot more impact. I still liked her though. I liked all the reporters, though Keri from MEA and Khalisah are my favorites (loved the latter’s character development. Also never punched her). Allers sole purpose in ME3 was to shill good reviews for the game from IGN, she shouldn't have been in the game at all IMO, she's a terrible actor

You would think that EA would provide BioWare funds to make high quality games. AND they've allowed Respawn Entertainment to use Unreal Engine for Fallen Order. So why would BioWare is still using Frostbite Engine, and they're having difficult time with it? It's like they just keep shooting themselves on the foot.

They found the money, somehow... Also, everything's cheaper over there, and being an unrepentant crunch studio doesn't hurt. Getting a few million here and there from the government also doesn't hurt. And BW does use motion/performance capture, but it's really expensive so they can't use it for everything. That said, EA has a top-end motion capture studio in Vancouver which I know they use. Again, it comes down to budget and where you spend your money. BW doesn't get the big budgets though because they don't rake in the big dough. EA will always prioritize their money-maker franchises over the relatively niche games BW makes (barring SW), on top of which are just riskier ventures. BW lost it's Montreal studio after the ME:A's poor showing. I suspect Anthem had a sizable budget, but it didn't pan out for them. And that's why they're trying so hard to recoup something from that investment. DA:I's was BW's best-selling game ever, and even it didn't quite break the 10m units sold mark. So you can probably see why EA's not throwing AAAA money & resources at BW for future projects. They simply get better ROI from their other big properties.

Money to fund games doesn't just come from publishers. Outside agencies and such donate to their cause too.

But even so, you can still end up with a good game, a great game even, that nobody buys, because nobody cares about Bioware. Bioware needs to make care people about Bioware and can Bioware make people care about Bioware through "My Face is Tired 2: Electric Boogaloo"? Maybe for the memes, once it's on the bargain bin for $5, not for spending $60 on a release.

I just want there to be a default femshep option that's carried seamlessly through all 3 games and splashed all over the promotional art like there is with maleshep so she feels like as much a "canon" part of the game as broshep That's quite an unusual request. I don't understand it, but then again, I don't have to. I don't care who the promotional material is about, as long as it catches my eye. I most certainly don't require a dude on a cover for my eye to be caught. In fact, there's not a single dude on any cover of my porno mag collection. How is that an unusual request? What don't you understand? What do porno mags have to do with it???? Literally don't follow. With ME3, they finally created a default, high res female version of the main character to use in the marketing, which I wish they'd been doing all along. The remaster would give them a chance to fix it and actually include her in the marketing for all the games. A lot of people love playing as Femshep. It would be nice to have her feel like less of an afterthought. And give how the default male Shepard has always had a high res, unique face (e.g. not from the character creator), it would be cool if Femshep had that in every game too, like she does in ME3.

How is that an unusual request? I just like my covers to be eye catching. I don't particularly care who is on them. I have the game box for ME1 right next to me and all I remember from that cover, is Ashley. Was Saren on it? I remember Saren on it. What do porno mags have to do with it???? Literally don't follow. That was a joke. With ME3, they finally created a default, high res female version of the main character to use in the marketing, which I wish they'd been doing all along. The remaster would give them a chance to fix it and actually include her in the marketing for all the games. Does promotional marketing interfere with your enjoyment of a game? A lot of people love playing as Femshep. It would be nice to have her feel like less of an afterthought Why would she feel like an afterthought? And give how the default male Shepard has always had a high res, unique face (e.g. not from the character creator), it would be cool if Femshep had that in every game too, like she does in ME3. Yeah, I disliked that, as well. I would have liked a legitimate face on femshep. One recognizable enough, preferably, like Mark Vanderloo for maleshep.

That's quite an unusual request. It would have been nice if ME3 FemShep had been based on a facial scan of a real person like default MShep and Ashley/Kaidan/Liara/Miranda/Jacob/Jack/Samara/Zaaed, even Allers had a face model but default FemShep didn't?
