It just occurred to me there might be a reason why a bunch of BioWarians retweeted this ancient animation demo...

Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah Hey this really is from Dragon Age! Its a cute little spider!
Just watch... that pulsating thing will actually turn out to be a giant egg sac, naturally splitting open as you walk under it, giving you a refreshing spider shower.
Oh, btw, deep mushrooms (and I am almost sure those red spikey stuff are them) grow on the bodies of dead spiders.
I believe all 3 images- from the same location/scene. Possibly the one, that may have been shown at Xbox's inside show, that was attended by EA. (According to Shinobi) Screens Why? - Two first screens have the same terrain. It's dark, snowy- the end of a road can be seen on the second screen. (Marked in blue) - Look at red lyrium: at the beginning, it has barely infected a tree, then it has partly occupied gate looking ruing (note red-glowing ruins in the distance on the right, I believe it's the location that is shown in the last screen) and boom- next slide it's everywhere. - Moonlight. Let's imagine that we are walking that path. Moon is kinda to the left. We are following the road, entering the ruins- the moon is above, closer, but also a bit to the left. Then we move further- going for that red glowing towers on the right. On the third screen, we can see light shining from the left, where the moon is supposed to be.
So where is it? IMO, it's Ferelden. Haven, more precisely. It reminds me of our fight with Cory.
Why I don't believe it's elven ruins in Arlathan Forest? Even skipping the fact that there are snow and architecture isn't exactly elven, IMO it doesn't look as wild and deserted as it should be. Think about it, something this big should be undiscovered by Tevinter (they would claim it otherwise), so for thousands of years it had to be deserted and almost wholly merge with nature (remember how Mythal's Temple looked? Or concept art of Arlathan ruins?). There definitely would not be any road with a lamppost on the side.
Why Haven? Snow, terrain, buildings- checks. The scar from the Breach on the second slide? Also checks. It looks kinda big, so we have to be close to the place it was created. In Trespasser, we saw only glimpse of it in the distance, since we were located in Orlai. Also, let's look at the first slide- it definitely reminds me of a memorial. Can't be dalish, since they bury dead bodies. Can't be dwarven, cause they return them to the stone. Can't be Nevarran, cause they mummify their corpses. Maybe it's a memorial to those, who lost their lives during the Conclave and fight against Corypheus? It seems looked after: there is a road, it's in order, someone lights the lamppost. And those statues happen quite often in Hinterlands. Beneath Heaven- huge lurium deposits. Some theories claim it is where Mythal slain the titan to gen an orb. If so, the existence of red lyrium heart would make sense.
Also, wouldn't it be sick to visit locations from the previous game that now are all fucked up?
That castle better not be the Palace in Denerim, that's all I'm sayin'.
I'm not sure "where" is the right question to ask just yet.
I suspect these 3 scenes were created specifically for EA Play, mixing old and new art assets (whatever they had) to create a certain mood more than anything else. For example, we can see DAI art assets in these images. The architecture might be reused assets from DA:I if they didn't yet have the HR assets of Tevinter, or wherever. The game's still a long ways off, so that would not surprise me.
What a pathetic showing. Clearly they are nowhere with this game. They are still working out how to live service it up.... probably looking into switching it to a first person shooter.
So it's going to be like a decade between Dragon age games now?
Have I mentioned that I hate Bioware now?
...Are we supposed to give you some sort of medal for being Yet Another Negative Nancy or something?
I guess being a mindless stan in an echo-chamber is better...
Just because they were buildings we encountered in Ferelden, does that necessarily equal they are Ferelden style. After all, Skyhold wasn't built by anybody in modern times and its original name was elven, so it seems likely it was an elven construct originally.
According to mason notes in Skyhold, the fortress itself is of early Ferelden construction. Early Fereldens (so Alamarri probably) apparently leveled the original elven site to provide the foundations.
That’s what the wiki reports at any rate. The text of the notes themselves don’t seem to be on there.
It's worth noting that the alamarri claimed vast land spread across Thedas not just ferelden, but modern southern orlais, the free marches and nevarra. Maferath and his sons ruled for years so alamarri architecture can probably be found across their lands.

So... anybody who has a different opinion on the matter, or has little patience for people bothering to spend time on a forum of something they apparently hate (and come on a thread to declare their hatred) is "a mindless stan in an echo-chamber"?
Huh... are you sure you aren't psychologically projecting on people? Being a mindless negative anti-stan is very much a thing as well, you know.

Well, a couple pictures ain't much at all, and being 2-3 years away from release nothing in the pictures will stay the same. So, this is basically, nearly....nothing? Big fat MEH.

While there is a palpable theme to materials teasing DA4 (darrrrrrrrrk, Bliiiiiiiiight, end of the woooooorrrrrlllld....) I think they don't wan't to be too specific yet, while at the same time they may not have material that is immediately identifiable with DA4 without giving away too much. They may have whole zones meticulously crafted and rendered, but if it's of a region we're not familiar with it may mean little to us if shown without context - or it is simply too spoiler-y.
The stuff they've shown we can at least identify as something DA-related, without being TOO revealing, as the threat of the Blight/end of the world always looms over Thedas, while at the same time they're using quite a few assets we are familiar with from DAI.

If they had put Solas and/or the Inquisitor in a new region, it would have been immediately identifiable as DA4.
I like that color. Maybe that color could be used for armor. Even better is wear red lyrium armor like Samson did in DAI. Have it customized to be different colors.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Dragon Age. I just hate what Bioware has become and don't trust them as the stewards of the IP anymore.
I clearly am in the "mindless negative anti-stan" territory. This is true.

Hell, if it wasn't for the fact that it had The Blight, I'd landscape my place with this stuff!

The last time I took a personality test I failed it.
hell yes, dragon age content! Or, pictures at least...
Mark me down in the "excited" camp nonetheless, that red lyrium pic in particular might have possibly but definitely did make me poop + jizz my pants a little bit.

Putting Inquisitor in new region is actually pretty spoiler'y, given we don't know the extent of their role in the next title - less so with Solas, as he was already featured in the teaser, but not as a 3D-rendered model. Perhaps the way he looks now is spoiler'y as well, or perhaps they're still tweaking character models (initial character models for DAI looked quite different from what we got in game). I don't necessarily think the models will change much from DAI ones, but even better textures or lighting may make character models look different and maybe they're still working on that stuff... IF they're still not discussing whether they should stuff Solas in golden pants again - or maybe give him the Ultimate Golden Pants?

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
I'm actually happy that we don't know exactly what location the pictures depict and hope it stays that way right up to the release of the game. It is enough that we have that to look forward to without knowing exactly in what context.
I mean, I don't know about anyone else, but I felt the trailer for DAI with Corypheus asking us to bow before him, his dragon advancing and then another dragon taking it out was a real spoiler for the game, particularly as it turned out it comes as the climax to it. The moment Flemeth says to Morrigan that she knows now how to stop the dragon, I thought, yes you shapeshift into one yourself (as though she couldn't have figured that out without Flemeth!). Of course the alternative is that we tame a dragon. Wow so we know how we are going to use that.
"Bow before me." Nah I know from the trailer that your big dragon is never going to reach me. Any moment now. Whoosh, there it is. It totally spoiled the impact of that little scene. Otherwise we might have been left in a bit of doubt and there could have been that element of suspense as the dragon advanced on us. Perhaps Morrigan had failed to shapeshift, perhaps we didn't fully imprint on our dragon. However, we knew from the trailer that wasn't the case. Also everyone was saying the voice sounded like Corypheus from DA2 so his appearance at Haven wasn't a total surprise either.
There has been enough speculation that all the clues they have given us pointed towards a corrupted titan being involved with the Blight and this would seem to confirm it but it is vague enough that we still don't know in what way or where it is, so plenty of surprises still there.
