I do like the suggestion of a boat base. exploring various mini sections of the coastline between Antiva and Tevinter as well as a couple of those key cities could be very cool.
Okay, a boat would be cool, but a flying boat (or some kind of base) would be even better...
If we travel around in Northern Thedas, from the Anderfels to Rivain and Nevarra to Tevinter. We either have a flying boat or can use Eluvians...because otherwise the game will span over 5 years just to account for all the travelling.
A lot of this will depend on how smoothly (or not) things go in production. They had to build a ton from scratch and had a lot of production challenges in DA:I, but still managed to create quite a few regions. Apparently building the open-world regions is the "easy" part in Frostbite, filling it with robust content... less so.
To be honest, they shouldn't have Rivain or Antiva in this game. They should limit the number of nations to better focus on them. So I think it would be better if they just did Tevinter, Par Vollen, and the Anderfels (if not in this game I doubt they ever will since it's off on its own otherwise) and save Antiva and Rivain for a future game (maybe one that involves crossing the ocean since both are tied to naval prowess).
I mean, there is certainly an argument to be made for focusing on just a couple of nations, and not spreading themselves out too thinly. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, guess we'll see. The focus we know will be on Tevinter, as it should be for this game, but knowing my luck so far countries like Antiva and Rivain will get maybe one map and Bioware'll write them off as needing to be explored.

I definitely think we'll e using Eluvians at least for some of the game. Trespasser felt like a proof of concept test for that kind of traveling.

Slightly harder to be inconspicious tying up your floating boat at the docks though.
This is one concept art that has me thinking knowing that through all three DA'S there were only sailing ships? does Solas do a hooky pooky dance? or is this maybe the writers way to counter the griffons eggs that were found? *shrug* lost here

They had flying boats in Last Flight, pulled by gryphons but levitated by magic. So they have set the precedent there with the lore. It is strange that no one thought to continue with the idea in world but I suppose they thought the lack of gryphons was a stumbling block. However, the Core Rule Book has the levitation spell and a control the weather/wind spell as part of the lore of Thedas, so it is surprising no one thought to combine the two before now. Anyway, that presumably is what is going on in the picture, probably with a squadron of ancient elves doing the hooky poky dance.
Plot armour might be the wrong word, but something... I am open to suggestions for a better moniker.
A bunch of assassins/mafia which are ostensibly so powerful that their homeland doesn't even need an army?
Yes, it is amusing and yet I bet they wished they had an army during the 4th Blight when the darkspawn overran Antiva in a matter of weeks. Essentially they are the Mafia and I think they have very successfully promoted the idea of their threat to anyone attempting a takeover, though to be honest, apart from the wine, they have nothing of great value that anyone would think it worth getting killed over. They are a nation of merchants and so even their wealth is likely to be spread fairly widely across different countries. I think that fact, rather than the lack of an army or the Crows is the real reason no one thinks it is worth the trouble. If they had been a near neighbour of Orlais or that big mountain range didn't cut them off from Tevinter, who let's face it are a shadow of what the Imperium used to be, may be it might have been a different story. As for a moniker; I'll have to work on that one.

I decided to do a look-over of the concept arts/in-game renders to determine locations. We have: - all the street level city concept arts show Tevene heavy grey/black stone work except for the Lady Crow one - Snowy mountain Dwarven Thaig/Deep Road entrance and some dwarven interior - A city in a delta with Mughal/Maure architecture (all the landscape city concept arts are of it, as is the Lady Crow concept art based on the doorways) - Anderfels Warden's fortress (not Tevene architecture which is interesting, the towers reminds me of Ostagar but not quite Elven either)
Outdoor shots: - flying aravel are in some Elven's ruin. It feels similar to the mountain Elven ruins in Trespasser but not the same place as it's at the top of a cliff and the Trespasser one was in the middle of a lake. - Red Lyrium Darkspawn is in a forest/clearing and we can see a statue of Andraste similar to those in the Hinterlands in DAI in the back. Said statues shows up in an in-game renders in a snowy mountains pass with some red glowing thingy on the ground.
There appear to be only 5 areas in the behind the scene: - A Tevinter city that only has street concept arts similar to Val-Royaux in DAI concept arts. - A not!Tevinter city that appears to be in Antiva, mostly landscape concept art, but one street level one - A snow mountain area with living rocks, red lyrium darkspawn, Andraste's statues and a Dwarven Thaig/Deep Road entrance. - Some Elven ruins in the mountains somewhere (no snow). - The Anderfels
All the interior shots that aren't Dwarven are pretty hard to place. The water scenes could be anywhere as well, but are mostly probably near the delta/coastal city.

Didn't IB potentially become a Tal Vashoth in DAI? his arc potentially explored that depending on choices. so that would be one qunari companion who was in the Qun, one who was (could become) TV. So maybe qunari companion 3 could be Vashoth (I don't mean prediction-wise I mean like in terms of what's been done and not done yet)

Trespasser Crossroads.

One day, the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see. -Sandal Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a world to save. Again. -Inquisitor
my bad I was responding to the comment in recent pages that we haven't had a Tal Vashoth companion before
Edit: Oh ye
For your consideration I bring a different kind of egg
So...speculation is that's a ethereal plane of some kind that's close to the fade like the crossroads?
A Crossroads with some kind of Blight? Yeah...that would create levels of suck on a fairly grand scale.

Can you imagine if they did that, though?
The Blight being spread by Solas to his elven followers and then throughout Thedas by use of the Eluvians and the Crossroads - the fastest, safest way of travelling in the world.
I just feel like that story point would crash and burn in today's world...

I’d hardly say it’s the safest. Between what we see and hear from the games and books the Crossroads has tons of perils, especially for non-elves.

Well, it won't be out for 2-4 years, though. We might have a moonbase operational before we get the next DA, let alone have covid in the rear view mirror.
