Can you imagine if they did that, though? The Blight being spread by Solas to his elven followers and then throughout Thedas by use of the Eluvians and the Crossroads - the fastest, safest way of travelling in the world. I just feel like that story point would crash and burn in today's world... yeah I mean I wasn't going THERE with the analogy just THAT specific Eluvian was connected and hence they could be...not that they all are or all are all the time. Because that scenario just does not seem to match the current available lore on the subject... and hence bad writing to prove a political point. Consider that A. Eluvian travel in most cases has not resulted in the spread of that blight, in fact that was the only one which was tainted. B. Eluvian travel for modern Thedas is a fairly recent phenmnon (again as far as we know though I suppose we could've had a few ISOLATED examples) the blight for modern Thedas goes back back millenia. C. I would still think that by and large it would be not the Eluvians themselves spreading the Blight just the destination would be Blighted...like how Tamlen got it...or that you would have to have blighted creatures traveling along it and they would spread the Blight. D. None of the origin stories of the blight mentions the Eluvians, as far as we know. I suppose its possible (though unlikely) that is how Cory and co traversed to the Black City...but I doubt it. So in other words while the Eluvians could spread the Blight the source or the main cause of the spread would seem to be seperate.

We might have a moonbase operational before we get the next DA, let alone have covid in the rear view mirror. I didn't really get 'covid' from DKRs post But now that you bring it up I bet you dollars to dougnuts that there will be a plague in some sort in DA 4. Either a side quests, main quest, or quest chain. Though the Blight is kind of a good stand in for a pandemic in the first place....just the Blight is about a billion tiems worse then Covid is.

So...speculation is that's a ethereal plane of some kind that's close to the fade like the crossroads? A Crossroads with some kind of Blight? Yeah...that would create levels of suck on a fairly grand scale. I don't think the right image from the behind the scene is a/the Crossroad. There are Andraste statues, real trees and snow in the full image. And a red lyrium darkspawn in the concept art version (which actually looks like a render painted over). Concept art vs in-game render

Taking the risk of making this another post but really the Blight is a pretty poor stand in for Covid in a one to one comparison sense considering its pretty much either always lethal, or turns you into a ghoul, spreads very easily...and has some intelligence behind it.

It was more...this 'thing' makes you sick, and is transferred - among other ways - by coming into contact with infected people, than any kind of similarity of the actual symptoms/outcomes.

I'm still not sure why quite a few folks think Solas would intentionally spread the Blight... He hates and fears it.

Well, unless is actual plan is to cause a red lyrium Blight. The Red Lyrium Idol he has must tie this all together... somehow. Using the Blight to weaken the Veil on a large scale? Or the more it spreads, the more powerful the idol (the focus) becomes?

I wonder if we'll have naval battles in this game (a la Assassin's Creed), or even setpiece battles. Also, I wonder if this is the actual scale they're aiming for with a Qunari Dreadnought.

i did recently consider the possibility that the Eluvian they found was connected to the Black City Honestly I'd been assuming that was the case for years.

Yeah, there's no way the idol features in the teaser and isn't central to The Plan tm Weakening the Veil is a possibility, I'd also throw in the possibility that the plan might be to use it to neutralise the Evanuris when the Veil does come down. It required a 'trick' the first time, right? So maybe he couldn't brute force them without 'juicing' his own power.

Avernus did weaken the Veil around the place using the Taint for power instead of normal blood magic.

You can either let him keep that piece of the idol -or- have Sandal use his power to turn it into a (harmless) rune. Oooo... that's how we're going to save Thedas!! Sandal's going to use his power to remove the Blight from the idol (and all Red Lyrium connected to it)!
