Who will become crazy in the party first? Do people remember in what Varric kept his little shard of it in DAI? In a crazy multi-layered vault! Also, Varric has a fragment of the idol. Yeah drove Varric brother mental...and made people want to worship it. Also Meredith got turned into lyrium.
Nuke that idol from orbit and Solas as well.

Who will become crazy in the party first? at assuming half of them won't be crazy to begin with. But fair point; the idol can't be held. It has to be contained, or, I guess destroyed. Mount Doom?

Plot armour might be the wrong word, but something... I am open to suggestions for a better moniker.
A bunch of assassins/mafia which are ostensibly so powerful that their homeland doesn't even need an army? Yes, it is amusing and yet I bet they wished they had an army during the 4th Blight when the darkspawn overran Antiva in a matter of weeks. Essentially they are the Mafia and I think they have very successfully promoted the idea of their threat to anyone attempting a takeover, though to be honest, apart from the wine, they have nothing of great value that anyone would think it worth getting killed over. They are a nation of merchants and so even their wealth is likely to be spread fairly widely across different countries. I think that fact, rather than the lack of an army or the Crows is the real reason no one thinks it is worth the trouble. If they had been a near neighbour of Orlais or that big mountain range didn't cut them off from Tevinter, who let's face it are a shadow of what the Imperium used to be, may be it might have been a different story. As for a moniker; I'll have to work on that one. Well, could they surely qualify as "horribly overrated"?

Thedas lack volcanoes despite having volcanic geological ground compositions. But it's kinda hollow earth so... I know what we need: Andruil's spear. It was probably used to create the Waking Sea*, that should do the job. *I think that's the one that was created by an angry god? I'm not 100% sure.

Actually, that reminds me of something! You can either let him keep that piece of the idol -or- have Sandal use his power to turn it into a (harmless) rune. Oooo... that's how we're going to save Thedas!! Sandal's going to use his power to remove the Blight from the idol (and all Red Lyrium connected to it)! It would be funny to have Sandal being a big part of some plot in the game.

So thinking on it, I'm curious about the idea of being 'powerless' and 'the people in charge not being willing to do anything'. Consider that - depending on your worldstate - it's possible for: * Leiliana/Cassandra/Vivienne to the Divine * Varric to be the Viscount of Kirkwall * Sebastian to be the King of Starkhaven * Alistair/Warden to be the King/Queen of Fereldan * Celene/Gaspard to be the Empress/Emperor of Orlais * Sten to be the Arishok * Dorian/Maevaris to be the leaders of the Lucerni All people in positions of power who are fully aware of the threat Solas poses to Thedas and I can't see many of them turning a blind eye to it. It seems like Thedas (especially the South) should be gearing up for a war on all levels, not sticking their heads in the sand. Leliana and Cassandra are doing something but behind the scenes. As I've explained on my other post, it doesn't do for the Chantry to publically admit they take this elven "god" seriously. The other southern leaders can help only as much as it affects their territory. Most of those bordering Tevinter seem more concerned about the Qunari at present, which is likely what Solas anticipated would happen. Varric does seem to be co-ordinating intelligence gathering in Kirkwall. I'm pretty sure the ones who are ignoring the threat are likely to be the Magisterium, who to be fair have got other more immediate concerns. Also if the Qunari assault does spill over into neighbouring territories, their rulers are likely to be distracted as well. Not to mention that the only real evidence for the threat Solas poses/his plan to bring down the Veil at this point is the Inquisitor's say-so, right? And it is a pretty extraordinary claim to take on someone's mere say-so, even if that someone is the Inquisitor. So it wouldn't be totally surprising/implausible to see them get the Commander Shepard treatment, i.e. "ah yes the Reapers Dread Wolf... we have dismissed that claim"

Plus the common people if told what the Inquisitor said would believe them because they were chosen. And in some scenarios the leader’s position is only secure because of their connection to the Inquisition so they wouldn’t want to risk that out of self-interest if nothing else.

I wonder if we'll have naval battles in this game (a la Assassin's Creed), or even setpiece battles. Also, I wonder if this is the actual scale they're aiming for with a Qunari Dreadnought. It seems a lot of thngs are intended to be very large in these concept arts. In theory I am all for large scale monsters and objects. In practice, I find they work better in cutscenes than gameplay. Especially when you can't aim the camera up enough to really see something, which is an annoyingly common issue for reasons I don't understand. Or you can't zoom out far enough to get a good sense of scale. Then it turns into a Bay-era Transformers movie and you have a lot of movement, but little idea what the thing moving is doing.
But it *can* be done well. So, here's hoping. lol

No but seriously, that's a sound possibility. Sandal's already theoretically predicted the Dread Wolf rising. He's gotta be involved.

Depends. I guess it depends on the spirit. You could probably only have Fade sex, like Tyrrda BrightAxe.

But fair point; the idol can't be held. It has to be contained, or, I guess destroyed. Mount Doom? Sandal's going to use his power to remove the Blight from the idol (and all Red Lyrium connected to it)! Sandal could be like Tom Bombadill; the idol has no hold over him but if he can enchant it, he'll lose interest. However, perhaps he could keep it safe while we find a way to destroy it. He has also proven virtually indestructible over the games and can turn an ogre into a crystal statue. Even Solas can't do that, he only turns things into boring old stone. Perhaps Sandal could turn the idol into a crystal statue that can't be reversed.

Maybe as one of our "heists", we're supposed to find a way to steal the idol from Solas and play keepaway... The final 40 hours of the game are an extended version of Avengers Endame where they all throw the Gauntlet to each other. ...ah, who am I kidding? I'd play that. Pre-order cancelled.
