1) Eh, for me it was the other way around. My very first elf in DAO was a Tabris, and I was kinda grossed out on how the city elves let themselves be kicked around. I know where that mindset comes from, but I don't need to like it. These days, I tend to "judge" elves individually. But, which thing from the future they mixed with older elven stuff? +1 for mentioning antagonists who are not "gotta blow up the world" mages. Disregarding my personal opinion about her, I'd say we need another Meredith-style antagonist.
2) @ Altmer: Uh... I thought you don't like the Stormcloaks much? Besides Altmer=/=Thalmor, once you strip away all the "OMG, TAAAAALOOOOS!!!!" Nord bias and all the butthurt-ness of Delphine away, one might just take that as elves who do not want worship an imperialist, overhyped human war-monger. With that being said, the main cliche of the Altmer seems to be perfectionism or obsession. Remember that old alchemist dude in Windhelm? @ Bosmer: Well, if you like meat and someone wants to kill you, why not finish them off and eat them instead of ransacking you garden for food? @ Dunmer: And you, good lady should not rant about deadra worship, else uncle Sheo will hear about it. Oh, and what's so bad about Azura? She isn't much different from Akatosh or the more grey imperial divines. 3) Oh, and I'll just have to mention that of the four main human races, the Bretons are the only ones who have not successfully genocided a race of elves yet. 1) I more meant that the City Elves seem to have mixed certain things from their old elven beliefs together with the believes of the humans it's by no means perfect (especially given how the humans are treating them) but I can admire wanting to strife to create something new despite the circumstances. I personally think we need more villains indeed, like Meredith or like Loghain. People who believe they're doing the right thing but go about it the wrong way. Sure, Solas is of that variety...but he also had a dash of Anders where he feels "the end justifies the means" 2) I don't like the Stormcloaks as a group...but I do admire Ulfric as an individual...sad to say he dies in about 90% of my playthroughs psh...uncle Sheo and I are pals...we both like cheese (don't disrespect cheese) As for Azura...err...she's known to trap souls (I mean, Azura's star is a soul gem)...and is apparently responsible for creating the Dunmer in the first place (which according to the lore wasn't a gentle process). They still adore her though, which is why they tend to yell out "by Azura!" about 99% of the time 3) Which is why Breton's are my second favorite Elder Scrolls race...plus their racial ability is handy 1) Sure. I'm not sure how "actively" city elves do this, as we really did not get a good insider perspective anymore after DAO. I pretty much think that both cities and Dalish are in need of some decent re-imagination. If the Dalish, once aware of the Evanuris, could adjust their culture and stick to their oath of "never again shall we submit" over considering return under Evanuris rule and the cities dropping the original sin BS and overblown Andraste/Maker worship... aaah, pipe dreams. Did I mention that I like Shianni and Lanaya? I feel that Meredith and Loghain were also pretty big in terms of "ends justify the means". For the templars, it is their only objective argument ("Maker's work!!!" stuff doesn't count.) Loghain tries to defend his decision of allowing the Tevinter slavers into Denerim like that, but it is also apparent to me that usual "elves are lessers" attitude is strong with him. 2) "A group of imperial loyalists would like to know your location" (Not me, just sayin') I can see where that dude come from, but it seems to me that he's also deeply manipulative and pretty ruthless. See "The Bear of Markarth" (being an ass to the Reachpeople is a no-no) and his Thalmor dossier. Sheo's still a frickin' deadric prince. Should I now make a joke about Dutch cheese? Anyway, I don't know any and I also like cheese. Ok, the Dunmer don't like him much, but I guess no organised culture or govenrment does that. So Azura seems to be on par with your bog-standard asshole god. Dudes like Zeus also got worship after all. And all the boring single super-dudes.
3) Same here. Breton witches and Reachpeople (yes I know these are not stricly speaking Bretons).
Solo'd the Dreadnought... Nah, I bet someone just tripped while moving gaatlok "How were are supposed to sink that thing?" "Here, have a torch."

Consider: Leliana, Cassandra, and Vivienne can all become Divine, but all three have different ideas on how the Chantry should be run. Then you have personal beliefs. I mean, Sera, Dorian, and Varric are all Andrastrean, but they approach it in very different ways. I know you were having a serious discussion, but I just had this funny thought of Isabella becoming divine. She'd have the chantry's looking like a WAP music video lol.

things I want to know when I see this one 1) who's this dude
2) where is this and what happened to set the ship on fire and 3) is he going to be a companion, because we need a pirate (yes I know Isabela was technically a pirate...but I want a dude version)
Well he's standing there like he just solo'd that Qunari Dreadnought, so I'm guessing he's pretty tough, whoever he is. He's got a lot of bling and a similar necklace to Isabella, so pirate/LoF. As for the ship, I'm guessing he set their explosive powder on fire, similar to IB's personal quest. Companion? Major NPC? Hard to say yet. He doesn't show up in any of the other concept art.
Concept art of NPCs rarely makes it into the game as is. It's there to generate fan speculation. I'm too jaded by now and simply shrug it off. Remember those busts of dwarf beards? Everyone got excited. I mean super excited. I got excited. Finally we have HAIR!! Yep.. DA:I delivered hair.
I accept that the artists need to start somewhere. The graphical novels is one source for inspiration. Still, Bio devs should, by now, have a strong idea of DA cultural sartorial wear for both sexes for dwarfs, elves, and humans. The Qunari female is a new challenge for sartorial design. We need more concept art of Q females.
At the end of the day, my expectations is simple. We get what we get. But, there is a small voice in my head that says NPCs with a fine structure is desirable. Yet, a rotund NPC character whether a mage or tank, if well written, can be easily accepted.

That concept art seems Dragon Age-y to me, just the parts we've only heard about. Isabela obviously has a similar pirate/treasure hunter aesthetic, there's the Qunari and their dreadnoughts (how cool would a Tal-Vashoth pirate be?? Bull already looks like one ), Josephine and her family's trading fleet and how she dreams of sailing.... I mean idk I feel like we've been given tastes of this all along, and as we get closer to Rivain and Antiva we'll see more and more of that.

Okay, a boat would be cool, but a flying boat (or some kind of base) would be even better... you know how in Final Fantasy 7, we get better and better travelling options until we have an Airship and can finally just go anywhere in the whole world? I'm imagining a crappy base (like a little dirt hole, ala Hawke's house with Gamlen), followed by a cool water boat base, followed by a Mage joining the party and being like, "I can improve this." and then our boat base flies.

Okay, a boat would be cool, but a flying boat (or some kind of base) would be even better... you know how in Final Fantasy 7 every JRPG ever, we get better and better travelling options until we have an Airship and can finally just go anywhere in the whole world? Lol, sorry I had to. As much as I love the trope, I don't see the point when we can already fast travel everywhere directly from the map. Unless BioWare plan to bring back overworlds, lol. A flying mount or the ability to turn into a flying creature would be more maneuverable and less resource intensive. And also just more fun for me personally, lol. Some of the best fun I ever had was riding Buckbeak around Hogwarts in the Prisoner of Azkaban videogame.

I don't see the point when we can already fast travel everywhere directly from the map. Unless BioWare plan to bring back overworlds Well, I guess I was hoping they'd break even more out of their zoning via map and Click-and-load-screen being the only form of quick travel. They restricted access to the entire map in DAI via points gathering (power?). What if they used a more narrative practical reason for why you couldn't get to a place?

Bartrand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! could totally hear this in Varric's voice. It would be funny to have Sandal being a big part of some plot in the game. yAS. Considering every time I ask my husband who he wants to play he DA4, he starts a logn description,"I believe I will play a dwarf that was adopted after being found in the Deep Roads. I'll have enchanting abilities." or, more succinctly, "enchantment!" - he would be up for it as well.

Can we romance a spirit this time?!?!?!? I initially thought, could a spirit even consent to sex? but then I suppose the Desire Demon in DAO was capable of consent- although, actually, I think you could rape it under threat of murder. I don't really want to go there, all the same. Ex spirits maybe, like Cole.

bioware let us mentally make out with our skelefriend it'd have to be a pretty good voice actor to make me want that. And, um... I dunno. IT'd definitely be a mind-to-mind sort of connection. It seems to me that she must have deliberately hung around her shack, hoping Morrigan would set someone to kill her, because she needed to appear dead in Ferelden and then be resurrected on Sundermount, so someone couldn't track her progress. ...except, perhaps she deliberately didn't want him to find her until she was ready. I feel like, in the Stolen Throne, the whole purpose of telling Maric he would be betrayed implied that she somehow thought it could be avoided. I like the theory that Flemeth knows a lot, and has been playing as "Fate", of a sort, pulling the threads of destiny to ensure an ending she seeks. But I just think that is way too OP, and also kind of boring. I don't want Flemeth to be behind everything. I dont want every protag and NPC and the fate of all Thedas to be a thing she planned all along. That essentially would make her the equivalent of the Maker for about 2000+ years.

I've long maintained that we may see a 'deal with the devil' type of scenario in order to stop Solas, or perhaps be put in a 'damn if you do, damn if you don't' sort of situation that may reflect what he was put through in the past and what has effectively broken him in places... Becoming Solas to stop him.. yikes, but also intriguing.

Talk of the Blight reminded me of a game called Rune, where the hero had to drink the blood of Loki to give him the power to match his enemy. This gave me a wild idea for a pie-in-the-sky endgame situation... Imagine Solas & Co. are just too powerful to stop, or the Evanuris show up (though I expect they'll be the antagonists for the next game), but you have to do something. So you and your companions find a way to breach the Black City with the Idol, go to the source of the Blight, then willingly turn yourselves into Uber-Darkspawn. If nothing else, it would make for an... interesting final battle. Not that I expect anything like that would happen, but it would be a twist. I've long maintained that we may see a 'deal with the devil' type of scenario in order to stop Solas, or perhaps be put in a 'damn if you do, damn if you don't' sort of situation that may reflect what he was put through in the past and what has effectively broken him in places...

I agree that having to make some sort evil deal is not very appealing for the individul character. On the other hand, I'm still salty that DAI forces my Dalish elf to make the Chantry great again. So my sympathy for possible elf-hating Chantry fans having to make a deal to get rid of Solas is somewhat limited.

*shrugs* I don't really know whatpeople expect though. Moral amiguity...while may not exactly be a 'BioWare staple' has shown up a few times throughout the series. Hell again maybe not exactly 'deal with the devil' territory but none of the major choices in DAI was clear cut good vs. evil. Each of them had pros and cons, and each of them had things that would make them less then idea and you usually sacrificed something or risked something.
