Wow this is parody level lame. if you want to kill him off kill him off.. don't do this "oh no he's dead but wait he isn't ow wait he is" BIG story Spoiler, i mean HUGE Yep they went cliché again Rook can see dead people.
I mean I'm glad Varric as a character won't get dragged through anything else.
Also his writer got fired.
But so many bad cliché, Varric deserved better than to end up sacrifice as a plot point for Solas character arc.
Varric HATED anders. HATED after what happened at Kirkwall.
Solas caused the conclave, Varric only knew him a year...no way he would have been let me save my friend.
Just to die to tell you "btw you can't redeem Solas Rook, I tried."
They pushed this narrative that Varric was Solas' best friend and vice-versa when in truth they was never that close. Certainly not closer than let's say, Cole.
It is weak, Varric died for nothing. And now we won't get anything on how Hawke would have reacted to this, because it is all pointless anyway.

From the reddit review: "Renegade Shepard with horns". I mean. Where to start? I know they're a big Dragon Age fan, but are they a big Mass Effect fan? Renegade Shepard without horns regularly intimidates, beats, extorts, and threatens civilians. Renegade Shepard tends to be pro-human to a Cerberus degree and everything that implies. Renegade Shepard is regularly dismissive, cruel and nasty to his companions when given the chance. Renegade Shepard with horns? He commits genocide twice before lunch. Kills his companion's child, hooks a civilian up to be tortured for a chance at intel of a defeated enemy, doesn't even deign to try to warn the Batarians of their relay destruction, and he shoots and kills the man or woman who was with him from day one. Not to mention he lies to a long time companion's face and even tries to bring up a loyalty to mission to get him to stand down. This is of course after he's been found out to have sabotaged a cure that could save the Krogan. He drives a companion to suicide because he just didn't care enough to put in the work to save them. He effectively kills the council to install his own people when given the opportunity. Those are some mighty big shoes to fill, Rook. Renegade Shepard is an unapologetically ruthless YottaChad feared by everyone who can feel fear. I will not accept that slander and heresy. |

I keep refreshing this thread hoping to see someone say, "besides the Taash scenes and the weird companion arguing scenes, the writing is actually really really good"... I'm hopeless. It's a 40-80 hour game, a full-blown analysis from a non-media or non-creator could take a little while. Okay, now I'm extremely confused about Varric. If he was dead the whole time, why didn't Harding or Neve talk about it after they left his DEAD BODY behind in the ritual site? Who or what was Rook talking wihth during the whole game? This is really bizarre.
Harding, Varric's friend would show ZERO reaction to his death? lol
This Varric twist ruined this ending that everyone is praising, it makes no sense. |

She's lending off screen support but everything to do with how Solas is handled is just by Rook.

If you're playing it , don't click Solas used blood magic on Rook so Rook though Varric was still alive, and Solas could still manipulate Rook.
I think he gives an excuse like "because we had a blight to fight together, desperate time, desperate measure I'm sure you understand".

As far as I've been able to piece together, from Harding and Neve's perspective, Rook is just acting scitzo talking to himself. I just saw a scene where Harding interrupts a "meeting" between Rook and "Varric", but she seems confused by Rook's behavior (from her perspective Rook's talking to themself) - and she never talks to "Varric" directly, only Rook
