That sounds fine for a cozy farm sim, but I'm not sure that tone works in a game where you primarily interact with the world by killing things and where there's a main plot involving an apocalyptic threat. I played some cozy farm games with better and more interesting characters than Veilguard. Never played farm games as they aren't my thing (it's either spaceships or castles for me) but having seen excerpts of DAV, I believe you |

I played some cozy farm games with better and more interesting characters than Veilguard. Oh, no shade was meant. I was thinking of a new farm game I played a couple months ago, Fields of Mistria, which has got a pastel 90s anime aesthetic going and a tone to match. And it works because that's the type of game and the type of story it is. But that mood wouldn't fit a game like, say, Dragon Age: Origins, even though it's not exactly dour either. I was thinking of my time at Sandrock. You have a grumpy annoying old character Cooper who is like "in my days bla bla bla..." and he's quick to judge and throw anybody under the bus. He get into a massive fight with his BF and cause a whole bar fight. It's hilarious. It's all for kids, and it managed to be edgier than Veilguard. Even the twist and humor, romance are better and you have a more grey story. Again it's for kids, like 12 years old. I have no idea what the hell happened with Veilguard, I'm in the disbelief stage when I can't believe it's that bad. But then I can't launch the game again because there's nothing i'm looking foward to. Not even humor, and i can be easily amused.

I finished the game 6 hours ago, about 3 am this morning.
I still have to chew on that ending but I think regardless of how I settle, the primary feeling is that I disliked it. I'm certainly not jumping in for a second play through immediately. Part of it is that I liked the choices I made and what I'm seeing of the other outcomes now that I'm reading spoilers is that I wouldn't have liked the other choices better than the original ones that I made. So what, then, would be the purpose of another playthrough?

Luke Stephens and his partner Nikki, who was a big Dragon Age fan, collectively expressed their disappointment with Veilguard last night. Stephens had initially been a Veilguard cheerleader but I guess the writing wore him down.
