I didn't say you got dealt a great hand, just that there were two romanceable male squadmates for gay men while straight men and lesbians only got one Which overall meant very little. Cullen is more lore-relevant and important than Iron Bull ever was for instance, even if you can take Iron Bull with you everywhere. I don't think the squadmate argument is especially strong. Josephine definitely had a minimal role though, that's a fair argument to make. I still prefer the romances being squadmates, regardless of the amount of content. The choice being between a single squadmate and a single npc just provides very little variety. BG3 made sure everyone got an even amount of choices and content, not sure why DA in its latest entries couldn't do something so simple.

Honestly as far as romances go, The Witcher is still my main medieval fantasy game. Romance maybe. As for sex scenes, they were laugh out loud bad to me as a woman. They looked like softcore porn parodies how they were shot and the music used. Especially the one in Blood and Wine, wtf was that?? Pixel sex is always cringe to me though. Cyberpunk does better in the love scene department but can of course never beat the epicness of Gerald and Yen, but that's all because of the books and not really what's in the game. W3 is so male gaze it's hysterical. I don't mind it but play that game as a woman and you laugh a lot at all the half naked women everywhere.

Ya, I realized I'd complete misread the person. Thanks for trying to explain though Yeah this is definitely a more Mass Effect thing I think... But I think Inquisition advisors were fabulous for the most part, albeit I do think Josephine got dealt the worse hand between her and Cullen. Even Leliana had bigger moments to shine and she isn't romanceable. But honestly, regardless of my love for Iron Bull, and the influence Dorian has had in my life, I'd still probably take Cullen over either of them. Not because I find him more attractive than them, but because his romance and overall plot importance outweigh both Iron Bull and arguably perhaps even Dorian, especially if you go for mages instead of templars. So on that note at least, the squadmate vs advisor/npc argument isn't the strongest in Inqusition specifically.

I mean the variety is there, there are 8 romances overall in Inquisition, more than in any other Dragon Age game (and one fling/flirt), you've just chosen to only partake in two of them at best.

And another thing, nobody ever complained about romancing bi women btw As much as I love Miranda, Issy is definitely my all time favourite BioWare romance execution. It’s now 2 dragon age games where the Hetro/bi romance writing has been completely unappealing to this particular man.

Im not interested in romance in veilguard - but then again I haven't even bought the game. I don't wanna see that codex entry from the Inquisitor, it'll make me upset.

Gotta say that I thought romance will ruin Veilguard based only on what they said during the promotion. I can safely say the game ruins itself, no help from romance needed

I can't believe that there are people out there that think that inquisition is more appealing then dragon age origins is - despite origins being such an epic that I kinda want someone someday to remaster it (not modern bioware but another company that can handle dao properly) because it's such a superior game to Inquisition lol. But anyways this isnt about Inquisiton or Origins, it's about Veilguard - which is.. unfortunately less then Inquisiton, which was a boring game on its own lol. poor dragon age, it deserves so much better then Veilguard lol.

No offense, but if you think that you must be living under a metaphorical rock. I'm on your side, DAO is superior to DAI imo, but I can't deny I have my biases and people who played inquisition first have theirs. Inquisition was also more appealing to people who were turned off by some of the content in Origins. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I think it's fair to like it more if for example some things in Origins trigger you or disturb you to the point of not enjoying it. And I'm sure there are other more or less objective reasons.

Dragon Age Inquisition was a really interesting exploration of faith and what it means when that faith is challenged. Even as an atheist myself, I found it really fascinating, because I've never had a roleplaying game try to engage me that way. Wish Gaider had stayed on to steer this ship to the end, even if he's probably been happier make visual novel musicals isntead.

To be fair, I've seen a lot less whining about the female love interests this time around. Remember the guy who tried to "scientifically" prove Cassandra had a male skull back when DA:I came out? Whether that's a sign of the times, or those discussions have moved to Reddit or even darker corners of the web, or my fellow girl-loving dudes are chill because they have more options this time around and they are more conventionally attractive, I don't know.
