Dragon Age The Veilguard Criticism Thread (formerly Skepticism Thread) [Spoilers]

Without DLC, Origins had nine, DA2 had eight, and Inquisition had nine. This is potentially BioWare’s last hurrah and they have the lowest number of companions in a mainline Dragon Age game. They also allowed you to go out with a party of three.

Regardless if they are an alternative or a dog, they are still a companion and as such included in total companions.

How do you know that there won’t be alternative companions or companions that you can lock yourself out of in Veilguard?

The problem is theres a higher expectation of writing quality for characters and I’m not sure they are capable of delivering that especially with how they fumbled Andromeda plus the layoffs.

Right now, I’m seeing Andromeda 2.0 forming and I’m hoping that’s just my cynical bias showing.

Quite frankly, I was no longer expecting 'Dreadwolf'. It turns out I was right; it's no longer 'Dreadwolf' but some last minute something else. What's more, it's apparently being directed by a DEI Zee-Zer thing. Bottom line, it looks like we'll never get to see the end of the story, since this will most likely flop and drag Bioware down with it. I'd be more than a little pissed off, after 10 years of waiting, if I could muster anything other than a tired shrug.

Holy Christ this look pathetic and forgettable. Opencritic predictions? I'd be shocked if it breaks 85.

Look how well these cinematic trailers hold up after more than a decade. The tone, the voice acting and the restraint of the art direction/action/cuts make these last.

Meanwhile Veilfirewalkwithmeguard is just another color vomit moba looking game that has everything cranked up to 11.

After seeing that trailer, I'm rooting for Solas.

Heck with you Debbie downers I have been waiting for 10 years hell yes, I'm going to buy and play it, the trailer was interesting, but it does not define the game Its all info. oh, and sorry your choices for Companions didn't make it into the game. at least one of mine did.

It’s been nonstop red flags on the road to release. Hell, the road is made from red flags at this point.

Look at that floating island and neon blue sign, that was my first red flag.

Fair enough. But that’s the issue, the floating island and neon sign are so absurd that is takes away from the mysterious, unwelcome gothic feeling. It feels so…cartoony. Now if this was the fade or Solas time whatever, but this is the waking world.

If they remove the floating island and neon sign, it would improve the atmosphere so much more and make it feel so much more grounded.
