I got Legion killed because Miranda insisted she was up to the task, but I had lost her loyalty after her fight with Jack... Certainly not by design I assure you. Well I guess you're a mental <16 year old because you thought the genetically enhanced superhuman biotic would be up to the task. Shame /s

How could anyone under the age of 16 choose poorly unless they were specifically wanting to get someone killed?

Why are you insulting the intelligence of <16 year olds when you aren't even smart enough to keep track of 8 enemy spawns and complete a Plat solo? SM is just another completionism mechanic, but one that also partially ties the result to your critical thinking ability and choices, rather than just a simplistic videogamey point meter (e.g. "War Assets") I think it should have been easier to fail/harder to succeed but that's coming from a fan. I've seen normie streamers cock up the SM plenty of times because they weren't completionists.
16 years old is the minimum age in the USA were people can get their learners permit to drive. Since driving requires a degree of skill, awareness and decision making given they are driving a 1 ton vehicle that is more then capable of seriously harming if not out right killing another person. I think that is a great arbitrary cut off for awareness and decision making. If you live in the USA and you think the learners permit age is insulting to people younger then I support you trying to petition to change that. If you do not live in the USA then I would ask what is the minimum wage for a learner's permit were you live. On top of that it is rated M for mature in USA so I can assume it would be similarly rated in other countries. So odds are 10 year olds are not being given it for birthdays.
SM requires you to not play the game and not pay attention to massive blimp sized hints. Loyalty missions you can only really fail by being a massive dick for no reason other then just to be a massive dick. Zaeed is the only one that actually has something resembling a realistic choice. The only way to not get them loyal besides being a dick is simply not to play the game.
If more missions were like Zaeed's and the choices were not so blatantly obvious and it didn't boil down to a stupid number's game for the final hold the line. maybe it would hold more value in my eyes.

Yep. "Choose poorly", someone(s) dead. "Choose wisely", everyone lives. Almost like your choices mean something. (Looks at the ME3 endings)
How could anyone under the age of 16 choose poorly unless they were specifically wanting to get someone killed?
What does this mean? I was much older than 16 the first time I played ME2, more like 34. Garrus died holding the line... I thought I had made "good" choices but according to the game and the mechanics, I chose "poorly". And I endeavoured to do better next time. Edit: The classic "I don't have an answer so I will pretend not to see it" set up. LMFAO

the hell are you going on about? What's a driving license have to do with the mechanics of the Suicide Mission? Plenty of <16 year olds that can formulate less incoherent arguments than this. That doesn't speak well for you insulting anyone's intellect, does it?

TBH, it's the music for the suicide mission that does it for me. I recently watched the clip of Shep dying, there is a brief change in the audio to sound more somber, but a few seconds later the Suicide Mission track is back on. Fuck Yea! Joker doesn't need a crew! I couldn't help but laugh.

Finally have a fix for the game not launching bug, in my case it was one obscure setting in my antivirus software that was preventing the game from launching.
Been a frustrating process with a lot of trial and error (looking online and trying the various fixes) but I have now finally been able to play a bit this evening.
Just started ME1, not really detecting massive differences between the original game textures and the new one (a lot of the changes must be subtle)

Wow, I'm still learning things about this game. All right. I'll leave Garrus on the Normandy. You might want to delay that playthrough. Here's why. It's fine, it was going to be a bit anyway. Getting back to regular work has left me with really just weekends to play, and my current Shepard's still just on the Collector Ship now, waiting for me to get back in game.

That doesn't speak well for you insulting anyone's intellect, does it? I'll go slowly for you. 16 is the age the US government considers people developed enough physically and mentally to be trusted with driving a car. Which means it is the perfect arbitrary age to to pick for an offhand comment.
LMFAO It means Garrus's entire story in ME2 was him being Archangel and leading a small band of people in hit and run raids against the merc ran Omega while being out numbered 20 to 1. The game then asked for you to pick someone to lead team 2 while they make a raid on the Collector base while being out numbered 20 to 1. For the hack you have Kasumi a character who is literally a hacker theif and Legion a fully mobile version of EDI who has had first hand experience with Reaper tech and programs. To hold the barrier up you have Samara the Justicar who has spent hundreds of years training and honing her natural biotic capabilities that allow her to take on and kill other skilled Asari biotics. The crew (if they are around) are hurt and need to sneak out. Mordin is a well known scientist with a medical degree and has a history with STG and isn't a front light battlefield fighter.
And the whole "hold the line" simply reverts everything into numbers and doesn't take any degree of reality into the situation. We literally see Jack rip though a space station and yet they give her the same point value as Tali and Kasumi. The fact that Samara and Legion are only given a point value of 2 max while Garrus and Zaeed are given 4 max is just insulting to Samara and Legion. Samara, Legion and Jack should be worth 3 points max at the minimum.
Without the DLC the whole thing is basically set up as "Oh you picked Garrus as one of your squad mates? Yea someone will die because you didn't pick Jack and Tali" Zaeed gives you a little more wiggle room adding another 4 to the list. It is artificially set up to make you fail for no reason other then to have someone die to validate it being called a sucide mission.
And that isn't even getting into the narrative implications of it that had an effect on ME3.

As I'd basically have the same degree of conversation.

Ah yes, the US government. Chosen by the least educated populace in the developed world, regularly elects morons and criminals to make laws, currently overseen by a half senile segregationist boomer who replaced the previous reality TV star boomer. A "perfect" (your word, not mine) basis from which to form logical or rational paradigms. Can I have "appeal to the law and false authority fallacies" for 400, Alex? Too easy. Is this whole "I AM THOOOO THMART" act you're putting on a troll? Because your statements are consistently, bar none the dumbest ones I've seen on this forum, including self-admitted trolls. Anyway, your silly implication that only a <16 year old would be dumb enough to lose people in the SM was disproven before you made it. Plenty of people on the last two pages who are 1) not children and 2) admit to not getting a perfect SM result. So are you outright calling these people stupid? Because you're really in no position to be doing so.

You have put about 10,000 percent more effort into thinking about this then I did when I picked that number at random. Though your obsession with an offhand completely insignificant single line without addressing the real point of my post tells me the kind of person you are and what you are actually capable of. Only replace Lil with your name.

As I have gotten older and lost any patience for disingenuous hog shit thanks to politics. Even more so with Covid were suddenly basic health care steps to protect yourself and other people have been politicized by a certain group that march around screaming about their personal rights ignoring that their actions can have consequences on people who don't agree with them.
I spend a lot of time on debate forum and sub reddits without any problem. It is only here that people seem to complain. The fact the rest of the interment has no issue with is interesting.

Anyway, your silly implication that only a 16 year old would be dumb enough to fail the SM was disproven before you made it. Plenty of people on the last two pages who are 1) not children and 2) admit to not getting a perfect SM result. So are you outright calling these people stupid? Because you're really in no position to be doing so. You don't know what an offhand comment is do you?
You have put about 10,000 percent more effort into thinking about this then I did when I picked that number at random. Though your obsession with an offhand completely insignificant single line without addressing the real point of my post tells me the kind of person you are and what you are actually capable of. Only replace Lil with your name.
It could be because you arent disagreeing with people you constantly are being insulting and condescending. I'm only insulting and condescending to people I think deserve to be treated as such.
So "it's just an offhand comment" is supposed to be some kind of defense of it being 1)incredibly stupid and 2) personally attacking other users? You sound an awful lot like this "certain group" you are supposedly railing against. Something something locker room talk. What did Fluffy Bunny, Glen or Colfoley do to deserve being called a mental midget by you? You're just some rando on a video game forum. If you were the next Fermi you wouldn't be wasting all your time here making goofy logical fallacies, so cut the condescending i am so bigbrain act.

Eh I don't really care, to each their own. My personal opinion is that it's not always obvious what the right choice is (decently sure Miranda said she was up to the biotics task too, but she's not). Since we can't really question the characters like we would IRL it leaves a lot up for interpretation at times. Besides, in real life I have a Master's degree in one subject and a Bachelor's degree in another... it would take a lot more to dent my ego on that account.

I thought you would have a master's degree in carrots. 😆😉
