This video helped me a lot with ME2 in particular. At the start of every fight, find a spot to stick the 2 squaddies then try to move in between them and the enemies so the focus is on Shep. Yeah its not that I dont get the kills meself, thats the easy part, but the companions are doing basically almost nothing and just dying there. I didnt remember it was like this back in the day, or was it? Cant remember, evaded 2 and 3 a lot.. In many cases it seems like Garrus was stuck (like in that me3"mp" ) into geometry for a long time, he was just hanging not in cover but at the edge of the cover. Even AI cannot evade that bad mechanic it seems... I really think the ME2 squad AI is worse than it was before. There also seem to be more issues with enemies spawning in unusual places than I remember. This is now happening in ME1 as well... since they introduced the ability to command the squaddies to different places. I never used to have a problem with ME1 squaddies breaking cover before I told them to... now they do it all the time. I've had to redo the latter part of the Feros mission several times because my squaddies would break cover and wind up shooting one of my colonists for no apparent reason. I want to run them all in for insubordination by the end of my run.

It was infuriating on Virmire, but it fixed itself again after it. I've seen few enemies in both 1 and 2LE now rising on top of things, they seem to think they are in cover..

ah yes. squadmates not doing what they're told in ME2. Compare them to the squadmate clowns MEA has, the squadmates in ME2 would destroy MEA squadmates. MEA squadmates can't do crap on their own. For example, I had little Ryder stay in cover while the squadmates took on a kett in the bubble. After 15 minutes they hardly damaged the bubble. Since I was falling asleep, I decided to intervene to take out the kett myself. What's the point in having squadmates who can't do any damage. I take ME2 squadmates over the tissue paper squad from MEA. Hear, hear. I was blown away at the incompetence of the MEA squadmates. Couldn't rely on them to do anything. It was almost like they all picked up guns for the first time. Oh, right. They don't even know which end the bullets come out of. I haven't noticed any combat issues with ME1LE except the husks would run in circles for easy targets. Since the patch though, they charge me like I remember. Just started ME2LE, so can't comment on combat with squaddies.

I think the enemy AI in ME1 is much more cautious than it used to be. My guess is they wanted to bring it more in line with the cover shooter style of the latter games.
I found that I had to go looking for them hiding in cover way more than I remember. There was a distinct lack of enemies running around like crazy yelling "I will destroy you!". Use to be I could run into a room shoot an enemy, or even just the floor, and back out and take them out from a choke point as AI's just ran at me yelling.
Not a bad change in my opinion, just different.
Haven't noticed a change in ME2/ME3 myself to AI.
I dislike MEA combat for several reasons, the inability to control squadmates in any meaningful way was a huge one for me.

Else it's a lot like soloing, because I personally refuse to use the crutch, um - make that the pause command, in the middle of combat. Too much like "hold on whilst I get my shite together" and figure out what to do.
ME3MP got that right, no freaking pausing.

Not a bad change in my opinion, just different. Haven't noticed a change in ME2/ME3 myself to AI. I dislike MEA combat for several reasons, the inability to control squadmates in any meaningful way was a huge one for me. I agree. They are less willing to walk out from behind their cover than before (in ME1 at least).
However, I have also had several enemies on both my ME1LE runs spawn inside walls or inside the cover they were meant to spawn behind. There is a clear difference when an enemy is reluctant to walk out from behind their cover and when they are simply unable to move. I've had them spawn such that only the tips of the weapon is visible and what has alerted me to their presence is that my squad continually shoots at them even though my scope is clear and I'm thinking the battle should be over. This did also happen in the old game...very occasionally. Also in the old game, a biotic squad mate (I'm playing a soldier class, so it's not Shepard) would throw an enemy into a wall. However, I've paid close attention and even though I have had some instances of that happening as well, it is not what I'm talking about here.
It is also occuring in my ME2LE run. What is also occuring in my ME2LE run is that my squadmates are taking cover beside, on top, or in front of their cover. They do this sometimes when I direct them to cover and sometimes even when they are free to select their own cover. If it is cover I've directed them to.... I can sometimes correct it by re-administering the command in a slightly different location (e.g. pulling the arrow back away from the cover a bit if they seem to want to take cover in front of it instead of behind it). When they do it to themselves, my only choice is to send them to a different cover... and hope I succeed before they get shot. For example, I just had MIranda go down after she freely decided to stand on the wrong side of her own cover. I told her to move twice to a safer place and she just stood their firing her SMG and taking hits until she went down. I had even triggered her "Moving" dialogue twice, but she never actually began moving.

Its like on me3, they seem to get stuck to the geometry of the level, and to the edge or cover, not horizontal or depth, but the turn from horizontal to depth edge .. sigh. Anyway, they usually stop answering any commands or then do them when being shot at constantly. Down. Oh well I think thats why the medigel is there. I remember time when I paused and commanded them but for me they've mostly worked on 1 and 1LE without shepherding ( ). Mostly. Maybe its the time its been since I played 2, and this happened then too. Maybe twice I got locked on top of some geometry suddenly in 2, but less so in 3 where its mostly just getting stuck on the covers when you want to get out of it and run away. Thankfully we have discarded that mechanic.

www.nexusmods.com/masseffectlegendaryedition/mods/224"ThaneM0D or Thane Multicoloured 0 Decompression adds five different colour options for Thane's Alternate Appearance outfit. I like Thane's Alternate Appearance outfit because it covers up his hands and chest, which renders his outfit useful in space missions because no longer will he decompress. However. I don't understand why it - like other outfits for companions - is in red. So I made four different colour options. I will not be adding any more colours because I don't believe in changing BioWare's artistic vision except for this one time."

I don't know if I can chalk this up to people just not knowing how to utlize them properly but my Ryder had terrific synergy with the rest of the squad. Especially Vetra, Drack, and Cora. Maybe Jaal but that might be a little harder to juggle but they all intutively stuck to their designated combat role and was ableto intuitively use their powers often setting up key combos or...just doing what they were meant to. And I generally agree as good as ME 2s squad was as characters they left a lot to be desired for when it came to survivability or usefullnes. Hell this might be the worse example of it in the entire franchse.

The squad AI in these games is dreadful. I felt like I was pretty much soloing the game. As a Vanguard I was obviously using Charge all the time and that confounded my squad - at the end of fights I'd have killed everyone myself and my squad would be moving up from miles away where they'd stayed glued in cover.

I actually love the pausing, it's what helps make the game feel strategic to me. Honestly I'd like for them to go back to the way you handled the squad in the OT but with the added bonus of the tactics menu from DAO. Otherwise I loved the actual combat in MEA and thought it was some of the best in the series.

I was specifically talking about gameplay, not story. Sorry that I didn't make that obvious. ME2 gameplay forces you to strip Shields/Barriers one way before working on Armor, then Health. This was a large change from ME1, and it made me do things initially that I didn't want to do, because I was used to just dominating in ME1 with whatever strategy I chose. It forces you to make gameplay decisions, and to maximize your team potential it forces you to manage your squad. If that is BS to you, we are at an impasse. If you don't want to do whatever is effective during combat, that's your problem. Really, adding in barriers, shields and armor to enemies in ME2 was just a way of making them more "bullet spongy" without making it seem like they were making the enemies more bullet spongy. ME1's enemies were just plain bullet spongy, particularly on insanity... and that hasn't changed with MELE. I find myself still taking 4 or 5 hits with the mako's cannon to kill the mooks outside the facility on Ontarom (a bug, I assume; but one that is in both the OG and LE). I also found myself taking at least 3 hits on most enemies with my HMWSR X loaded with HIgh Explosive Rounds X. I sent the mercenaries on Presop flying in the air such that they landed across the valley from where they were standing... and they got up 2 more times. All in all I think ME1LE's changes to the combat decidedly underwhelming.
ME3 OG combat was better and, IMO, ME:A combat was even better. ME2 was a big improvement over ME1... even remastered ME1... which boils down to either "pew, pew" in the mako or infinitely gun most enemies... since there is no effective combination of powers. You can lift or singularly or throw or even sabotage to get them off your back for a time, but you still pretty much have to gun them down to kill them. It really didn't make much difference which class you played as... and it makes even less difference now that every class can use every gun. In ME2, they started in with warp combos that could at least kill some of the enemies without the use of guns. In ME3 and ME:A the brought the idea of biotic and tech combos to full fruition.
I can't really see any changes to ME2LE's combat so far beyond perhaps a slight increase in the drop rate of thermal clips. If I can ever manage to get through ME2LE (because now it's crashing to the Xbox hope page every time I close a mission report), I'll be able to judge ME3LE's combat - which I expect, they didn't change at all. If I don't want to do what is effective in combat? I had to relearn what was effective in combat. Can you understand what you read? Don't be this version of yourself, where you purposefully misinterpret what people say and then strawman it like a 14yo. You are much older than that, and me. You have a better brain than that. As for the rest of your post - you are going on about what I jhst said, as if I didn't just say it. In short, don't be intentionally dense to try and prove a meaningless point. I have no idea what you were trying to say to me there.

Still waiting for that Mission Successful screenshot. That statement seems to ignore consoles existing and reeks of egotistical PC user smell. I do hope that I am mistaken. Because on console you can map 3 of your own powers to R1, L1 and Triangle (PS3/4) as well as 1 power per squad member for left and right directional pad.
On top of that ME3 MP limited each class to only having 3 powers. Which creates limits to what can be done. Fine for an online multiplayer game were short comings can be made up for by other players. Not so much with multiplayer and limiting powers, particularly for biotics to 3 powers max would make combat very boring for a 50+ (potential) game. It works fine for the MP because one round I can be a Geth Juggernaught and the next round an N7 Slayer. And they function very differently allowing mixing up the formula.
Also still waiting for you to show me how to spawn a single phantom in the MP on PS3. As well as giving me capture hardware and software.

Right now, I can't even map a squad power to the D Pad in MELE and I also can't change the camera settings in Photo Mode. It's like my D Pad doesn't exist relative to those commands. I can position squad mates with the D Pad though (although it doesn't prevent them from eventually breaking ranks and moving on their own). I still don't know if it is a controller compatibility issue.. shouldn't be since I'm using an original Xbox One controller.
ETA: After encountering even more bugs today, I've decided to completely give up on Legendary Edition for now (until they come out with more patches). As a result, I won't be hanging around again for awhile. See you all again some time.

Still funny af, but not worth me putting in the time to get this What's interesting is the player didn't have Legion on the roster. Look at 11:20. In the comment section, he mentioned he sold the geth to Cerberus.

I tried to get the "everyone dies including Shepard" ending in ME2 once and I was so pissed when one of my squad still survived. Dammit!

Right, so what's the problem and why do you need to try and digress a console war instead of sticking to the topic? Red herring budder. Grand digression, what are you even talking about now? C'mon man, I already told you a photograph from your phone, with a Mission Successful screen on your Cerberus Platinum run, is sufficient. That will inform me that you can handle a Phantom - trust me, there will be moments where you only have one to deal with, and my bet is it cuts your heart out but that's why I'm asking for the photo proof. So, I've given you everything I am going to. Either do the solo or don't, but don't try to pretend you need me to do something for you to attempt it. In short, your post is funny.

I assume the previouss post was addressed to the one who trivialized phantoms but refuses to post evidence of ability to do so.
I assume because I have that poster Ignored and Blocked, as I hate wasting my time reading inane and deliberately pedantic posts.
If so, then Artist, I believe you will never get anything supporting those claims. Just moar trolling.

I tried to get the "everyone dies including Shepard" ending in ME2 once and I was so pissed when one of my squad still survived. Dammit! If including the crew, it can't be done. At least not for me. I've tried a few times. The reason why I say that is because the most I've had die holding the line is 3. I tried 4, using the weakest squadmates without being loyal, Jack, Tali, Mordin and Kasumi, but one survived. Even though one survives, Shepard will still die since 2 squadmates are needed for Shepard to survive. It is possible to have all squadmates die, but that's if one is sent back as an escort. If someone wants to have all squadmates killed, here's a post I made about that.

Odd that the Xbox seems to be having such trouble. PS4 didn't have a lot of problems. An odd bug now and then but nothing game breaking. Usually limited to things like once in a blue moon I couldn't use a squad mate's powers which was fixed by restarting the level.
