I just thought the reversal was interesting enough to comment on. Feel free to go back to complaining about people complaining about people complaining and so on. Not entirely my point though I suppose its not entirely unfair either. Just that 1. Everything we have seen so far over the OT has been an improvement, the game looks a lot more beautiful now then it did all those years ago. Pretty much every screen shot I have seen looks better then its companion from the triology both in the side by side comparisons they are doing and, since I have been watching a lot of ME videos of late, just in general. Therum and Ferros in particular look absolutley GORGEOUS. 2. The lighting on the Mako...I mean I never really noticed it before but both Noveria and Therum aren't exactly supposed to be well lit areas to begin with...so it would make sense tha things would be a little dark and what light it has shouldn't be focused on the Mako. Now I know some games like to just have a light around the player character in dark areas whether one makes sense or not, like in DAI, but it isn't always the most realistic. And 3. In the most general commentary its just once again, if you are indeed correct, once again we could be facing a situation where fandom is its own worst enemy...or at least yours. It seems BioWare might've messed with the lighting, maybe not, but now it seems to dark to you...still gorgeous though.

I agree I'm not sure it's quite £60 better fo rme as in I'd be prepared to pay on launch day if you already own th eOT but If I diden' thave it and were to choose betweewn the OT and the LE to buy the the LE would get the nod as it's far better in terms of it's graphics. Bu tthen as I'v esaid in pervious posts I'm on ethat's going to wait for a likely pric drop or until the cheats for it come out.

A guess, based on the OT, with all the DLC ...
ME and ME2 on disc one, ME3 on disc two.
ME and ME2 combined about 35GB on PC; ME3 about 41GB on PC.

I was kind of wondering if this was the case, especially since I restarted playing the Bioshock collection which has 1 and 2 on one disc and then 3 on another. I wonder if this will be a vote for getting it digital... Though I also have to wonder, to Grinch's point, how much increasing textures and resolutions and stuff will increase the file size.

I am assuming one disc is for installation and the other is for play, ala the physical copies of Red Dead Redemption II and Last Of Us Part II.

Seeing the steady trickle of news we keep getting on the LE makes me wistful for when we can start getting the marketing for DA 4 going and can similarly enjoy the drip of info that will come out before release. On that note...and to make this even more on topic...I have to wonder if BioWare will have learned anything from this marketing experience and start tailoring their experience...obviously DA 4 will have a lot more info to share but the nice steady drip of small tidbits being constantly released followed by maybe a couple of tent pole events would certainly be welcome.

Maybe, but there is something positive in not releasing anything until you are close to completion. That is basically my point though DA 4 is in such a unique situation because it has been in dev...one iteration or another...for a very long time so they have to keep on relasing the occasional 'hey we're still here' message. But I wouldn't count on an actual serious market push until about the same time we have started to see stuff for the LE.

I must admit though I can see mysel fneeding to shuffl ethings aroun don my PC t omak room for it as I'm not suer tha tthe drive I have the Originals installed wi ll hav eenough room on it for the LE.

Assuming I get MELE … it's looking more likely …
My first Shepard will be a female, spacer, hero soldier with a Kaiden LI. That way, the reave bonus power in ME3 is unlocked near the start of the first run.
All 18 runs are planned out and the characters loaded in the archives. The various versions of Shepard should have most decisions/options covered by the last run.
In the OT, I ended up with an extra 19th run, because I'd never done the Garrus LI option. I've incorporated that in these runs.
That ought to keep me amused until DA4 gets closer … who knows, perhaps another publisher will put something out that interests me … maybe a PC M+KB version of Half-Life's Alex?
Or some RPG that comes out of nowhere, that piques my curiosity … like ME did so long ago.

I don't really have the right skill set, but I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of ME1 ALOT / Remaster. As a PC player, that is the comparison that matters. ALOT is limited compared to the remaster, so technically speaking the remaster should be significantly better, but I wonder about that in reality. You should compare with -Project Merlin -MEUITM -ReShade RT At which point, the comparison would get laughable.
Well, hot damn! www.nexusmods.com/masseffect/mods/242Merlin v1 has been released. This is news to me, and yes you are correct. I was making it overly simple, but yes I would like to see someone with all these mods installed (I have MEUITM and ALOT installed currently) take screens that match the current before/after pics. I don't think it would get laughable, but it is possible that a modded old version does look graphically better than the remaster, which is indeed funny

[snip] All 18 runs are planned out and the characters loaded in the archives. The various versions of Shepard should have most decisions/options covered by the last run. Wait you can have your Shepard's in the archives? Yes, but …
Right now, you can create different Shepards … I went through and created one for each of the 18 runs that mix gender, background, class and personality trait (hero, lone wolf and ruthless). Did something similar with MEA (which loads into the world states) with 14 Ryders, one of each of the seven classes and both genders.
Stuff you do in the MET doesn't load into the archives … at first, I thought it did, but no. Right now, you can create a single Shepard world state in the tapestry, but not multiple world states to load for the MET. My hope is that with MELE, the runs will load into the archives. At a minimum, I hope that I can at least create different world states, to manually build in the tapestry to reflect my choices in each run. Worst case, I can manually write my decisions/choices into each of the Shepard descriptions for the 18 characters.
In DA it's a bit different, with 8 runs each in DAO, DA2 and DAI.
For DAO, I had Dalish, Circle and Alienage elves for the three classes, all three classes for humans and both classes for dwarves. It wasn't one of each gender for each class and species, instead an equal split between male and female across all three species.
I ended up in DA2 with two warriors of each gender, one each with sword and shield, one each with two-handed weapons, one mage and one rogue of each gender.
In DAI, male and female for each of the four species, mixing classes, but no species covering more than two classes.
Each world state has unique DAO/DA2/DAI characters tied to it. So all 8 DAO characters match up with 8 DA2 characters, that line up with 8 DAI characters.

Not sure how many playthroughs I will complete. At least enough to get the platinum trophies for all 3 games, and doing a repeat performance of the best playthrough in ME history, the one in the my signature. most excellent

It has its own charm. The graphics to me, for 1, are actually what matters more. As for inventory... it is terrible! It also just doesn't bother me. The driving? The DRIVING! Mod your Mako better, with the console. vehforcethrustbooster or somesuch...when you can nearly reach orbit with the Mako thrusters, how shitty it handles becomes a non-issue. I fucking love the Mako warts and all. The only reason to actually buy MELE at all is for ME1, and that just isn't a purchase I make at anywhere near full price. Edit: watched the video, this is modding! Having light sources properly motivated makes a massive difference, and although I always liked the moody darkness of the Normandy, it is obvious now that some of that "moodiness" was actually just broken lights! Great stuff SirSourpuss, thanks again for clueing me in on this one.

It's weird how the lighting has changed ever since they showed the Feros screenshot. You can see the Mako looks very flat in the original. In the updated version the star is lighting one side. The other side is dark and also the car casts a shadow on the road. So the updated version feels much more atmospheric. Then we have the comparison trailer and it shows the complete opposite: The Mako is receiving light in the original, whereas it looks totally flat in the updated version. Same thing on Noveria: The Mako is receiving light from the light it's got to the right in the original, so its right side is brighter. Flat lighting in the updated version. This is giving me Peebee flashbacks from when they first showed her compared to how that game actually looked. The one near the lava, you are clearly already in a shadow, as a bit further out, you see where the 'sunlight' reaches. Since you're already in a shadow, any other shadows would not be as prominent. If you look closely, the shadow is still there. The second one in the blizzard, the ground in the original is shiny for no reason.
