It appears no new voice acting has been done for Legendary Edition, some of voice actors on N7 Day stream had no idea about this remaster and even Ashley's VA was confused is it just original trilogy or does it include MEA. Just original trilogy, no new content, same old shit, just retextured. Given what was said in the blog, it seemed clear to me that it wouldn’t have new content. I don’t think EA would be willing to give them that big of a budget to have new content on the Legendary Edition, to be honest. And in this case, they’d likely have given the job to another software house.

There's been some great remakes of late (Resident Evil 2, Tony Hawk 1+2, Final Fantasy VII) I was clinging to a fool's hope it was going down that route.
But I knew in my heart of hearts that it would just be a fresh coat of paint and little else. That's sadly not enough of an incentive for me to suffer that finale again.

Does your spaghetti monster know in which setting the new ME will be? As I have been saying, the idea is not to touch Shepard and co. ever again. And the best way to do that, is MEA2. So in our back and forth, MEA2 is the idea we got. That's not a confirmation, but nothing else made sense at the time. Hrungr has posted that video where Mike Gamble talks about returning to the Shepard timeline, but without Shepard, but I can't see that being viable in any of its available options. Why would they change the ending (again)? Its over, it happened eight years ago, its canon. While we can debate its merits we should also accept that it happened. Because changing it can give the franchise a future. Going by different developer posts and articles I have read over the years if they were going to Frostbite it would almost need to be a remake then That would be the definition of a remake, not a remaster. The better question should be the overall mood the spaghetti monster had for the company when it comes to morale, versus their progress report. It was mostly negative, before Casey returned. And by saying negative, I am really understating it. Even with Casey, the feeling was ... if they packed up and closed the next day, nobody would have batted an eye. Not so much ... well, shit. How do I even begin to describe it. There was relief Anthem was finally out, depression that it got roasted, frustration at the users at the words hurled at them, hopelessness at the task ahead and whether they even had a tomorrow to look forward to, insecurity. Lack of leadership is a severe thing. And the people there worked their heart and soul into Anthem, in spite of the poor result. And it's not insulting to say it was a poor result. Because you can work your ass off and still come up with a failure. Casey, alongside the remote work, has afforded the devs a lot of reprieve. Not that they aren't working hard, but having work in the pandemic, that security and the ability to be at home and work at your own pace and especially not sleeping in supply closets, is working for morale. And of course it's a benefit of not working in crunch. But I don't know of the direction DA4 is moving in and if the "solid" vision is as solid as some people think. Things are better now. I don't know whether we'll fall into familiar patterns in the future. I've been told precautions have been taken. Whatever that means. I assume it's some restructuring at work.

That's the most positive I can get about the remaster.

Liara looks horrible, what happened there? No words about Mass Effect 1 gameplay improvements, that seems like a missed opportunity. If the game is on FB3, I'm not getting it. Converting the entire thing to Frostbite sounds like a lot more work than it’s worth. Anything’s possible, but I honestly don’t see why they’d bother. It just seems to me like it would be more expensive in terms of the workload to get this done than to just improve upon the framework the original games are built upon. Yeah I think it's jus ta simple pain tove rthe cracks over what's already there tbh rather than a change of engineI domn' tsee myself getting it though I willook ove rsom egamepla yvids when some a rereleased just to be sure

I will expand more on this in the other thread since the comments I want to make are more appropriate there, not here, but with respect the franchise obviously does have a future. They've announced this remaster and they have announced they are developing a brand new game. The franchise may be dead, to you, but officially BioWare is going to be pouring who knows how much money and resources into the development of a new game. And until we know, through official marketing not spaghetti ineundo, which direction they are taking 'the franchise's future', the sky is literally the limit.

Ho hum. I'll just wait and see. And even if it's ok, I'll not be shelling out much $$ for it. Most curious to see what price tag EA is going to hang on it.

While I would have loved to have some more new stuff added (additional scenes, maybe a few new lore heavy quests) at this point I'm just going to be happy that I get to play one of my favorite games with upgraded graphics and performance on PS4 (and maybe later PS5). We console plebs have been yearning for this for some time.

They won't be changing the main thing that nuked this franchise to begin with, so my interest is almost zero. I feel the exact same way.

I'm debating on whether to get this on PS4 or PC. When it comes to remasters, they a very prominent on the consoles. It seems a little odd when a Remaster is on PC, like Assassin's Creed 3 or Halo. Im used to playing remasters on the consoles.

If they'd included MP and I had more friends playing on one format over the other, that would influence my decision. But for SP only … whatever makes the most sense for you.
With the mods available for PC, it might make the console purchase more appealing … see the benefits of the remaster on the one that mods have not already upgraded, plus give you the options to play on current gen/next gen consoles.

Despite my loathing of the ending I’ll still pick up the remaster. I loved the rest of the trilogy.
I have no interest in a new game.

Why would they change the ending (again)? Its over, it happened eight years ago, its canon. While we can debate its merits we should also accept that it happened. Changing an ending in a remaster/remake of a game is not unheard of. Persona 5 vs Persona 5 Royal comes to mind.

Thought on ME1: If they added at least some reverse continuity stuff, it'd be worth getting. Like, making male Shep/Kaidan a thing, even if its only flirtation and doesn't go beyond that.
Or, for me, more Garrus/fem!shep content. An additional conversation or something. I dunno. I'm not picky.
But yeah, if you add more foreshadowing(???) that can flow better from ME1 into the romances of ME2 onwards, I'd likely buy the pack in a heartbeat.

I'd personally just like there to be a hard-to-obtain, "Everybody lives! (except the Reapers)" ending added to the ones we have.
And also maybe they adjust the Refuse ending that results from shooting the star child so it doesn't come across as petulant sulking on the devs' part for those of us who remember the circumstances.
But I'd settle for the additional ending.
