Agreed, 4 getting a remake before CV is bizarre because it doesn't need a remake and still holds up well, but i have a suspicion that 4 is being remade soley to accommodate 3make's retcons like the Nemesis parasite being inspired by the Plagas. Don't forget Ashley the Tearable.... "Heeeelp! Help me Leon! Heeeelp!" - Ashley Graham Throughout the decades escort missions have gradually gotten worse. I can't imagine what 4make's would be like.

We shall see when DA4 comes out.
Yeah, one thing that’s easily been overlooked was just how good the character animations are in Anthem. It’s easily the best looking in any BioWare game made, and it’s left in service of a shitty live service with an anemic story.

And now EA has deleted the game keys for Steam copies of ME1 and ME2. Owners of Steam copies of ME2 now have NO legit way to purchase additional DLC for their game.
(I'm assuming this has something to do with MELE, which is why I'm posting it here.)

Is that the fault of BW for changing a couple of camera angles to fit their own sensibilities or of the grifters who want to use video games to fight a culture war? This can also go both ways. Why wasn't this an issue 10 years ago?

Why wasn't this an issue 10 years ago? I mean it kind of was. First time I played the game I found the angles that were specifically there for no reason other then to show off Miranda's ass as tacky. I had the same feeling with a shit load of moments with Quiet in MGS 5.

Is that the fault of BW for changing a couple of camera angles to fit their own sensibilities or of the grifters who want to use video games to fight a culture war? This can also go both ways. Why wasn't this an issue 10 years ago? It was an issue, but at the time it was such a big meme it couldn't be taken seriously. Now a decade later, meme died long age, so it can now be properly addressed with how those butt shots were not appropriate. And fix is very simple, just change camera angels.
That's it. Her sexy ass is still in game and likely in romance related scenes we may still have some butt shot or two. There were butt shots in Andromeda too, but unlike in MET, those shots were in-context appropriate.
People are not asking for much and BioWare will do a simple fix. It's puritanism, it's just removing a disservice to Miranda's character story.
It's not like they're changing Ashley's ME3 model, where they made her more sexy for... reasons? Like no in-character reason for such drastic change, it just happens, even goes against her character established back in ME1. BioWare could have redesign Ashley in ME3 to be more like in ME1 and ME2, but choose not to.
Why am I bringing up Ashley? Because it is absolutely absurd to see people lose their shit over minor camera shots changes with Miranda, when much bigger issues exist like with Ashley. Or with Kaidan still not being gay option in ME1. Or Jacob's overly cheesy romance, followed by for the only black male romance in MET to cheat on you no matter what, just because you were detained for couple of months. Along with Thane's unavoidable death, FemShep players have very unequal romance treatment to MaleShep, who's romances never cheat on him and can survive. The worst MaleShep gets inability to see Tali's face, beyond that low effort photoshop picture.
So excuse me if I quite frankly can not take this discussion seriously at all. It's as if you consider if BioWare won't fix everything, they should fix nothing at all. Which is, quite frankly, childish.

I also remember a lot of really reaching excuses to validate why the camera focusing on her stretching her back in a bikini top making her boobs very visible in the camera was totally acceptable. I assume most of those excuses were written one handed. There isn't anything wrong with having "sexy" women in games. Hell there isn't anything wrong with women using their sex appeal in games. As long as it is supported by in game events. If a woman is trying to seduce someone and they cut to ass and titty shots to highlight their seductive actions that is fine. If it just a regular conversation and they cut to an ass or titty shot for no reason other then to cut to an ass or titty shot that is eye rollingly stupid.
And I'm not some prude or anything like that. I've been watching porn for years. But there are times and places for shit like that. An ass shot for no reason other then an ass shot is just there to get 13 year old boys erections.

As I've said, it isn't the change itself, but rather what does this mean for Bioware. I don't need to tell you, at least, I think I don't, about the many times the community has criticized Bioware of their designs, post ME3. Vivienne, Dorian, Cole, Iron Bull, Kassandra, Solas, Sera all were criticized to some extent in DA:I, I don't even need to mention the Shrek edits with Peebee, the Scott and Sarah memes, Liam as well. They believe that it is all happening on purpose. And maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But it is happening in many games across the medium and it is making the audience jumpy and weary. Is the reaction exaggerated? Quite likely. But it doesn't look like Bioware conveyed it as well, as they usually do, to their audience and considering Bioware's aparent disdain for their audience, the reaction is to be expected. As a result, is keeping the original such a bad solution?

It's not like they are changing everything that fan criticize and demand anyway. But they, as well as any other gaming studio ever, did changed stuff per fan feedback. That's a good thing, as long as proper balance is struck.
As for media changing with evolving culture? That's a normal thing, it has always happened in human history.

And Japan is ... they're their own culture. I'm not ... even if I could argue with them, it's not my place. Effectively, I will either buy the game and play it, or I won't. But clearly it did something right, because everyone knows Quiet. In my post here, I had a problem remembering the names of the characters and I still can't remember what Cole looked like. Which is funny, considering his power in-game. Also, the adult part of ME character depictions has, partly, allowed the franchise to survive far longer than it logically would, considering the "turbulence" it has been through the past few years... decade. Under different circumstances, without the lasting impact of the crew, this franchise would be dead. So whether we like it or not, Bioware has benefited from this greatly and if they don't like it ... I can't imagine what studio would be angry at its success. Like, we made characters that, even 10 years later, 14 for some, are still relevant in minds of gamers everywhere. How many franchises can boast that? How many franchises have that power to sustain them? Very few and Bioware is unbelievably lucky to have them.

I'm sorry, but are you suggesting BioWare should just flat out ignore any and all fan feedback? No. Well, they are, if you consider Bioware's response to the ME3 endings. Extended Cut included. But they are getting fan feedback both ways in this instance and I'd argue the push back is greater than the push forward. Or at least that's how I quantify it. It's not like they are changing everything that fan criticize and demand anyway. But they, as well as any other gaming studio ever, did changed stuff per fan feedback. That's a good thing, as long as proper balance is struck. Usually, at least over the past few years, when such changes happen, a lot more changes than what the devs initially disclosed would change. Which causes more problems for the dev later. Which is making the public more reserved toward it. There's a ton of games that got censored over localization to match "modern sensibilities" and are vastly different to the original product. As for media changing with evolving culture? That's a normal thing, it has always happened in human history. I don't think we've evolved past looking at butts. I don't need to relate the reactions and commentary of my lady friend, every time she saw some juicy Henry Caville in the Witcher netflix show. Or any Caville in general, anywhere. I mean, shit, if I talked like that about a female colleague, for example ... oof. There's no HR department that would handle those sexual harassment charges. Funny thing, shirtless Caville in MoS inspired me to get ripped. You can't get more Superman than Henry, to be honest.

It's not a 1:1 comparison, but you can't deny that part of the popularity of ME's characters is sex appeal. But they are popular and have outlasted in popularity a ton of their contemporaries and even recent replacements/competitors.

I never even got to see Garrus without his armor/clothing during my romance scene... I do believe you should have. I think it is a common enough complaint. Also, no krogan romance with Wrex or Grunt and no nude Krogan models. Or naked Thane. What were Bioware ever thinking?

*Mentally pictures that* Great, thanks, you owe a new t shirt. Lol. Can we take it off Garrus' body? Well, if you like the smell of vomit on your turian boytoy... 😁
