Not actually watching this right now, just came across the gif randomly and it's too pretty not to share. For anyone who is wondering, it's from one of the episodes of Love + Death + Robots season 2 called "Ice"

Received a notification that a Cdrama, Office Girls, will be taken off Netflix end of the month so I decided to take a look.
Ep opens with the female protag introducing herself as an office girl, her goals and her desires. Switch to pampered princeling who had just returned from abroad. His driver informed him his dad wished to see him so they went to the department store owned by the family. Female protag had taken the place of a missing half-time worker who was supposed to dress up as a bunny and give out balloons.
Guy saw a pretty girl he would like to know so he called the female protag over, scribbled his phone number on one of the balloons and asked her if she would give the balloon to the girl. She refused, saying he's a creep and she wouldn't do his dirty work for him. They fell into an argument.
??? A creep??? It's not making any sense. It left me scratching my head in puzzlement. I would describe him as crass, clueless and entitled, not creepy.
Edit. Dropped the drama. The accent and stiff acting made it hard to watch.

My parents convinced me to watch BOSCH....I watched it here and there, bits and pieces when they were into it and I enjoyed what I saw so I thought I'd give it an honest go.

Started to watch the X-Files again. I used to catch the odd episode here and there on tv back in the nineties but never really followed the whole thing. Started to watch it in sequence on stream a couple of years ago but couldn't keep it up after a while. The "monster of the week" episodes make it not great for streaming IMO. It's ok for television when you only get one episode per week but if you stream it and watch maybe one or two episodes each night, it gets way too repetitive. So this time around, I am using this list of the essential episodes because what I really want is to get the grand arc, what fans call "the mythology". I am still in the middle of season 1 but it's pretty fun so far. Mulder and Scully have a really great dynamic and the 90s style feels almost historic at this point. Looking forward to spend the next couple of weeks with paranormal phenomena, shitty motels and boxy 90s cars.

Started watching Sweet Tooth on Netflix which is surprisingly good. I hope it's not going to be one of those shows that gets abandoned after just one season.

Going to watch "A Quiet Place Part II" tonight....with sound OFF and Subtitles ON, because I can understand ASL and the first movie was amazing (except for the very ending...before I learned of the sequel). I really enjoyed and appreciated the focus, point of view and inclusion of Deaf culture in that movie. I hope they continue it in the sequel.

I watch everything with subtitles on and it drives everyone mad apparently. Why? Isn't it better to listen to the original actors' work? Various aspects of their work is always lost in dubbing which is why I never watch dubbed shows / anime.

Just finished watching "Gunpowder Milkshake", a 'shoot'em up' kinda movie with Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh and Lena Headey (all of whom I like)....but the movie was horrible. Terrible.....just bad. I've seen much better movies of similar genre and style. "Shoot'em Up" for example with Clive Owen and Monica Bellucci.

Time for another round. That's right, we're watching another episode of Discovery. Episode 8 for real this time. Not only do Discovery episodes feel like they are unbearably longer than they should be, but they feel like you've actually watched more episodes than you actually have.
Is there a way to just put alcohol straight to my bloodstream? Is it unhealthy? Will it kill me? I can only hope.
Why am I watching a show called STD anyway? Is this episode gonna be bad? It's gonna be bad, isn't it? Cause they're all bad!
Very nice of those Klingon ships to take all that time, to allow the Discovery to escape. Very thoughtful. Are we actually going to start meeting the bridge crew? It only took 8 episodes. Guess not. Stamets is grumpy.
We are going to use sonar to find cloaked Klingon ships. Sound. In space. Kurtzman ... do you know what space is? Do you know what sound is? This isn't Das Boot. We're reaching Wing Commander movie levels of bad here. Come on! At least get Jurgen Prochnow!
At least we are on a planet, doing stuff and meeting new life forms, which is ... a little Trek like. I am sure Kurtzman will find a way to make it bad, though.
Hey, it's Laurel. Oh, I guess that makes our ugly Orc, Hardy. More like Hardly. So that's his name from now on.
That's pretty selfish, Tyler. You pretty much said you prefer war and the deaths of thousands, or even millions of people, so you can keep dipping your cookie into Mikey's milk glass. You know, Michael has, I begrudgingly agree, offered some services to Starfleet, however bullshit they may be and while Michael would not be acquitted, putting a good word would go a long way to reducing her sentese and getting out on probation. So all things considered, you two could still get together, even soon after the war's end. But no, let's make Tyler and Michael wish for the continuation of a war that costs peoples lives. How utterly charming of them.
Tilly, shut up.
Hardly is gone? Didn't we send him to Klingon Harem planet? Oh, that's right, Laurel's lying. Deceit is not the Klingon way, but let's see where this is going.
Ah, yes, Saru. Tell me about Kurtzman's environmental message. No natural disaster has ever occurred on Earth and only man is responsible for all of the Earth's environmental problems. Like the volcanoes or the ice ages, or the floods, or even the meteors. Fucking mankind, everything would have been better without them.
Alright, not particularly interesting, but Saru has been brainwashed, which is more or less a usual Trek trope, now our heroes need to find a way off the planet, bring Saru back to his senses and ... do what the fuck ever with the Paven. Problem is, Tyler has his own idea about how to fix the problem and is the senior officer, but we all know that only Mikey has the right idea about what to do, which will damage their relationship. Because I guess undermining your cast is the proper thing to do. I mean, we already ruined Tyler two scenes ago, so I don't really care, but whatever. I'm not the one writing the show.
Those Orc suits sure look difficult to work with. About as good as the Ninja Turtles suits. Worse even. Somehow, Laurel strutting around with Admiral what's her face, on a ship full of Klingon doesn't seem like the right idea. And hey get found out. They're going to pretend the admiral escaped to avoid suspicion. That's a dumb idea. Laurel is an idiot. Is everyone in this universe stupid? What the fuck ever. Again, I'm not writing the show, so I don't give a fuck.
So far, this episode is just boring and dumb, which is a step up from ruinous and insulting. Never let it be said, that I never put a good word for STD.
Tyler touched Saru's green goo. Tyler didn't really like it and Saru felt taken advantage of. Your goo is precious, people. Don't just let anyone touch it.
Mikey, how exactly are you going to interface your standard Federation transmitter with the giant crystal, which you are entirely unfamiliar with, to broadcast your signal into space through *sigh* sound, again? Because none of those things should work that way. Oh no! That Saru running cgi was almost as bad as the Krogan fight scene from Andromeda. Why did you even need to CGI that? It looked so bad. Oh, my fucking God. Oh, no! There's more.
Come on, Saru! Kill her! No! Why did you let her live?
Shut the fuck up, Mikey.
And the Paven have decided to work with the Federation. Which begs the question, how do future Klingon ships work past the "space sonar"? How do they remain undetected? Did we forget this exists? Also, Saru just committed treason. I guess a case could be made that he was out of his mind, but in the end it looked like he was fully aware of his actions. Oh, he even admitted to it. Well, Saru, it was nice knowing you, see you next court-martial.
Apparently not.
Laurel is captured? Oh, no!
The Paven are calling for the Orcs? Oh no!
The Discovery is their only line of defense? OH NO!
What ever, show's over. Man. 50 minutes of absolutely nothing happening. And it was the best episode so far. I mean, just a couple of character assassinations, some lore that would require retroactively explaining about *sigh* sound in space ... minor stuff. Like, the klingons changed shield harmonics to not be affected by the Paven wave, when cloaked. There, fixed. Just overall dumb. Could be worse. Oh, boy, could it be worse. That's all for today. See you when I feel brave enough for the next one.

I’ve been quite enjoying Invincible. It handles “edge” much better than the DCAU could ever hope to. The story is predictable and unoriginal, the characters are flat and boring, and it's only good for showing blood and gore for the sake of shock value.

Finally saw Michael Mann's Heat the other day. As good as I expected. That famous Al Pacino/Robert De Niro exchange at the diner was as good as I heard. There's a lot more somber and patient moments studying the characters' mundane lives and principles than I would've thought from a heist movie, so it was a really interesting and enlightening experience. The shootout scene was amazing, of course, especially with my headphones on.
Overall, a 10/10 movie. Good thing to wash down the filth I had from watching Spiral: From the Book of Suck. Ugh.

Tried to watch Jupiter's legacy tonight........ Ugh. Watched it for less than 10 minutes, the script was horrible. "I got him!" "No you didn't!" "Yes I did!" "You're such a dick." "With great power...........No, well, yes, but no, but the point is...." Then I also tried to watch "American Ultra" "The tree stopped this fast-moving them, it finally did something in its lonely existence. It stopped this fast moving them and told it "nope you're stopping too." " (Who the hell writes these miserable scripts?!) SEriously! I'm surprised the Movie Business hasn't imploded with people like that writing such horrible scripts. It's a wonder these things ever get made at all; I can imagine that the production team and the Studio sat around and leafed through these screenplays, "Whoa......Whoa......Dude! I like it! This stuff is so, so deep! I love this script!" They must have been as stoned as Jessie Eisenberg was.

Datas exploration to become human is truly a wonder to behold. *snip* why do fictional nonhuman characters always want to become human? Especially in cases where there are multiple races to choose from? It's a writing tool.
It lets you explore common themes that have a wide appeal through the eyes of a foreigner/child/outsider/etc. You get feel-good stories from the simplistic morals you can highlight. As well as engendering positive emotions by showcasing, "mimicry is the highest form of flattery". It's also a comedic tool for much the same reasons.
Latest usage of this I've seen is Resident Alien and Alan Tudyk's protagonist Harry. An interview with one of the showrunners Chris Sheridan is relevant. Of course, Harry hasn't made the full transition just quite yet, as his confusion over our Earthly customs is where Sheridan and his writing team get most of their comedy from. "We haven’t gotten to that place," he says. "I think if we ever get to that place, it’d be the end of the series.
Datas exploration of his humanity really is just the writers holding up a mirror to the facets of our own humanity they want to showcase. The story is predictable and unoriginal, the characters are flat and boring, and it's only good for showing blood and gore for the sake of shock value. Well hey everyone’s allowed to be wrong once in a while. I liked it. I wasn't too interested in the high school parts which I agree with cloud were derivative. The other plots were entertaining and I personally liked the action.

I just see it as maybe a bit lazy. I like Tolkien’s approach to worldbuilding, just creating for the sake of creating, instead of trying to turn everything into a lesson mirror.
