Graceful Friends, kdrama.
The story focused on five guys and their wives who've known one another since high school. There's of course, secrets hidden among them and it's starting to pop. I'm having trouble telling the actresses apart because a couple of them have similar facial features so I get confused now and then.

This week in Keeping up with the Cardassians - High Fashion with Garak - Gal Dukat: Meet the new power player in Cardassia Prime's political scene - Kira Nerys: Bajoran Terrorist or Cardassian Hero?
I am really enjoying Deep Space Nine. Season three is around the spot I got off the show because the local broadcast channel that aired the show at the time, switched its schedule to weekdays at 5 am and picking up from it, it's all new now. Found out who the founders of the Dominion are, the episode where Kira is abducted and turned into a Cardassian was really smart, it's something that I would have written, as an idea, but certainly not as eloquently. This is the kind of politics and intrigue I generally enjoy seeing in media, not political preaching. I wish we could go back to those times. Nana Visitor is still the cutest and Mirror Kira is ... so my type, it's ...sad, really.

Tagging dazk because he asked for continued impressions. Watched episode 2 of The Nevers. Like the first episode, it was "Ok". There was a lot to like, including further revelations about the scale and scope of some of the "Turns" - powers - of the "Touched". A rather brutal fist fight between two women and an interesting take on a pivotal moment in Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man (1). As for the 'not so great'; Another 'premium TV' Victorian orgy. Ok - never thought I'd say this, but Bridgerton did it better. And why...why...reveal the "true" villain so early? Unless it's a bait and switch of some kind. So - worth another episode, but I really think the 3rd episode will be it's last chance to grab me. Which is a shame, because "X-Men in Victorian London" sounds like something I'd really be in to.

It's actually interesting (I think). Such a great movie, even if there is some camp to it. ANd to think it was based on a comic book/graphic novel.... I first saw that movie when I was in highschool, Grade 10 maybe.....My dad told me the controversy behind it and I was immediately intrigued.

Temporarily halted Graceful Friends and jumped to Reply 1988. Wow, this series brings back the old days of the 80s. No internet, no mobile phone. Old tvs, long travel times (you forget something back home, you know you're in for it at school / work / field trip ), cassette tapes, rotary phones, phone directories that pile up year by year, video tapes (running to the video outlets to rent movies), VCRs. The list goes on. The focus is on three families that live in a small neighbourhood; their ups and downs and how they helped one another. The story and characters are well written. It's sad when the kids were all grown and working, eventually all three families moved away and the small neighbourhood lies neglected and abandoned.

Finished the Korean version of Suits a few days ago so I tried the American version it was based on. I didn't take to one of the actors unfortunately. I found her lines pretty off the mark; this character has an overblown opinion of herself. There's something about the way she act that I don't take to.
Not sure I would be completing this series.

Again, I know I'm really late to the show (pun intended) but just tonight I started, or should I say restarted watching The Witcher. First time I watched shortly after initial release, I watched the first episode and enjoyed it...but lost track of it after Ep 3 because I didn't know teh characters, I wasn't familiar with any of the characters from the games....Only youtube clips that I've watched, so I didn't really have a vested interested in it.
This time around, I thought I'd give it another shot. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake the first time around.....

Don't worry about looking to the games (at least, not the 2nd and 3rd - haven't played the 1st so don't know) for insight into the series. They were pretty open pre-release about adapting the books, rather than adapting the games that adapted the books. I've played several hundred hours of TW2 and TW3 and I still didn't know half the characters in the show. It didn't meaningfully impede my enjoyment of it.

Kdrama, Live A drama about cops, the difficulties they face in their jobs and their lives. I in one incident where the cops were called to an assault in which angry vendors vented their fury on the conman who took all their money. Instead of arresting the conman, remove him from the scene and tell the vendors to file reports at the police station, the cops arrested the vendors for assault and fell for the conman's sob tale that his leg was broken. The conman got away of course. I can't decide whether it's a comedy (except that there's really nothing funny in it) or a tale about inept cops.

I was a little under the weather yesterday and wanted to re-watch something while recovering (minimal brain engagement). So I actually went back to the first season of 24 and watched a couple of episodes. Seeing everyone with flip phones is kinda funny. It's amazing how outdated the "cutting edge" tech from 20 years ago looks today. Also, I always impressed by the first season as to how much effort they put into getting the feeling of the real time aspect right. You see a lot of clocks in the first season and they always show the correct time. Also, when people make references to past events (e.g. "we spoke half an hour ago" or things like that), they always get it more or less right. As far as I can remember, they really started to slack off on that in the later seasons (at least I remember that in Seasons 4/5/6 it mostly seemed to be an afterthought and they just switched from day to night at some point while in season 1, they actually used different color filters (or maybe even only filmed on location during the correct daytime) to immerse the viewer in the whole 24 hour real time premise.

Nearly finished Season 1 of The Witcher. I'm actually really enjoying it, though at times it is hard to follow the way it goes back in time, with no warning...Fills in the blanks of particular scenes (like Ryder's memories in ME:A) and then goes forward again to the Present. It's interesting though because doing that does provide greater context of certain scenes (like for example how Geralt was at the Cintra in the castle's cell area from the very beginning. When the episode 1 first aired and played through, viewers weren't aware of that....But now all the pieces have fallen into place and everything makes much more sense).
And while I don't particularly like Henry Cavill....I do think he was well cast for this role. I know they have just begun filming of Season 2 so it won't be out this year, I doubt it. But it would be great if it was...even later in the year around October or November. Looking forward to Season 2.
I do have some questions though. How closely in terms of characterization does this show follow the books or the games? Was Yennefer always disfigured and crippled, then changed by magic? Did Geralt and Yennefer always have a love/hate relationship? What is his relationship (or Yennefer's for that matter)like with Triss? From the small scenes I have seen of the game on YT, it seemed to me that Yen and Triss had a strong friendship and were BFFs who were thick as thieves, while in the show it seemed to me that they knew each other, sure, but they weren't necessarily BFFs.
Clarification and insights from those who have read the books and/or played the games and know them well...would be appreciated.
