I am always way late to the party for movies. I was acreage sitting and dog sitting for a few days and my relatives had the Disney channel so I finally watched Frozen 2.
It was okayish, not nearly as good or charming as the first one a few good songs but a couple of lesser ones.

While I was watching GOTHAM from start to finish on Not Flicks (and enjoying it), and I was also recording Gotham Knights on the PVR (and enjoying that too)....Due to recent comments made by someone in the family, I have resigned to going on a TV Strike, not continuining Gotham, deleting all my recordings on the (family) PVR- in fact....Not watching any TV, because I "didn't pay for it, I'm not the one who bought this TV nor do I pay for the Cable" (said by someone). Ouch!!! I'd offer for you to come over to my place and watch but for the cost of the trip you could buy a pretty good TV etc. Hope that wasn't being insensitive.

I went to see Dungeons and Dragons and..... It was really fun 😄. The characters did not take themselves to seriously and the story was in line of what I expected so both thumbs up. Next in line to go see is Guardians of the Galaxy 3 This will happen May 22nd so I will avoid EVERY spoiler 😏

Undercover, Belgian
Watched a bit of it. Story is about undercover agents. Two, a man and woman, are sent to spy on a drug producer / dealer and his cadre. They took the first step in making friend with the drug dealer's wife.
While burying some bodies, the drug dealer's right hand man found himself staring at a tracker attached to the undercarriage of his car after he jumped into the pit to check on the bodies he's going to bury. Anybody bending down can see it.
I dropped the show there and then because it's contrived and stupid. It's an excuse to have the drug dealers know the cops are on them. The undercover agents are supposed to know their jobs. Sticking trackers out in plain sight of anyone simply bending down to check the undercarriage of a car speak of lousy training and zero intelligence. They might as well wear a sign shouting ; Undercover cops! and prevent the audience wasting their time counting down the minutes to the drug dealers sticking their weapons into the undercover cops.

I finally watched the latest adaptation of Death on the Nile, with Kenneth Branagh as Poirot. It felt like a Covid-era production, sets were empty and the cast was minimal. Apparently Poirot needed another backstory and even his stache was given purpose.
I would only recommend watching this version, if you are a hardcore Poirot fan and you absolutely have to see every adaptation ever made.

this one looks like it sucks ? Honestly, I didn't hate it. It was fun, and I just kind of Ignored TM some of the period piece clashes. It's easier to watch if you're history minded when you treat it as largely an abstraction of the idea or vibes of a time period. The scene in the theatre was well-done, and there was a song/scene toward the end that actually killed me. I also loved that they were still pretty accurate with the types of horses they used and the roles these horses had. Friesians don't belong as saddle horses in period pieces lmao.

I have a 50th Anniversary Digitally Restored Blu-Ray and it is an amazing movie, one of my favourites. Lmaaaaoooo yeah it's really a well-made and well-told story. Obviously a Christian propaganda piece with some really unfortunate topical treatments of Jews and Judaism, but the construction of the narrative is solid and the cinematography and at times painted backgrounds were gorgeous. And not to bring horses back up (...may or may not be a horse person) but the chariot scene is like... some of the best cinema with horses I've ever seen in my life. I just can't bring myself to look up if anything happened to the real horses during the race; I'm worried they had to euthanize a horse or something...

No, no animals were hurt....and contrary to popular movie myth....No person was killed during filming of the chariot race.

Trapped, Iceland
The first season is fine. Story isn't convoluted. It's simple but I like the way how everything is chained together to form the complete picture of how the initial intentions of the bad guys balloon into bigger stuff through events they could not control. One thing led to another and another.
The protag, Andri, is the police chief of a village in the north. While trying to deal with the case, he had to juggle with family problems.
For the second season, Andri is promoted to a detective team in the city. He had to deal with his eldest daughter who's refusing to speak to anyone in the family and had gone to the northern village to stay with a family friend. Following a case, he also went up to the northern village.
So far, a man had tried to kill his sister by setting himself and her on fire. He died while she lived. His brother in law was found murdered in the barn. Andri's rebellious daughter is lolly gagging around around with the son of the murdered man.
I find her reaction to the news of the mayor's kidnap by neo-nazis / terrorists hilarious. When her mother's friend expressed concern whether the mayor would come out of it alive, the 15 year old girl said; oh, they'll probably ransom her.
huh?? She saw the murdered man hanging in the barn, likely killed by the same people who kidnapped the mayor, and her reaction to the fate of the mayor is "they'll ransom her?" She was smiling away, totally unconcerned. Talk about being a totally oblivious and clueless youngster with her brain sitting behind her wants and sexual drive. She ran off happily to join the murdered man's son when he drove up. heigh ho.

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Loved it. It is peppered with flashbacks, which both helped and hurt, I think, but James Gunn knows how to tug on some heart strings.

Oh - also watched Smile last night. Very disappointing 'horror'.
I - think, I - get the theme 'trauma begets trauma' etc, but something was very much missing. A shame, because the trailer was excellent and I was actually looking forward to it, but it was just a slightly more thoughtful version of other more pulpy horror films, like Truth or Dare.

Valhalla Murders, Icelandic
I don't know about the show trying to "send chills down your spine" according to a review comment because I thought this investigation drama was mainly about a case of a boys home and the personal lives of the two protags. There's nothing horrifying so I don't know why the critic would make such a statement when the story is anything but. Imo, critic is talking through his hat. Most critics are often in that mode, looking for something there's not there and making lots of noises because they don't see what they want to see.
If it was intended to be "chilling", I believe the producers would have started off differently. As it was, it was an interesting but predictable puzzle piece of what went down at the Boys' Home.
