I've seen it before, but I enjoyed it....though I really hated the ending. The ending made me cry.

s it worth persevering with? I'd like to know this as well. The trailer recycled every single sci-fi trope there is, so not gonna commit unless someone recommends it. Watched the second episode, was worse than the first. That's it for me.

Bitter Daises, Spanish, detective
Beautiful protag to look at, what's not to like? Kidding. 😄
A rookie detective, Rosa, is sent to a village to investigate a case of a missing girl. What's puzzling is that I didn't catch a mention of anyone making a report that the girl is missing. I may have missed subtitles or something because everyone is speaking Spanish of course. Will have to rewind the beginning.
I'm also puzzled Rosa is sent alone. Don't detectives work in pairs? Isn't it safer in pairs? So I don't get it why she's sent alone. Maybe her superiors think it's a simple case of a girl running off or something or that she'll have lots of backup in the village.
Anyway, other than the two blurbs, the show is progressing well. It is interesting because Rosa is beginning to realise the village is no quiet little sleepy place. There could be lots of dirt buried under. She unearthed a questionable teacher who's into young girls, dressing up young prostitutes in the uniform of the school he taught and examining photos of the female students, and stopped him from driving off with one of the village cops' daughter. He lost his job and he's angry.
The cop she's working with, they saved his daughter together, is also questionable. Can't figure out his angle yet. He gives me the impression that he actually knows the dirty deeds of of the villagers but prefers to sweep it under the rug for the sake of peace. He kept telling Rosa there's nothing more to look at and once she had assembled enough clues to complete a picture, he tried to get her to close the case earlier in the eps.
The police chief seems above board, honest and all for working with Rosa. He's very cooperative and decides to recall the rest of the cops he had sent to help with the Pope's visit in the city after finding the case is more serious then he originally thought.

Oh this one is very very interesting and enjoyable. Very good! 👍👍👍👍👍 I'm into the second season now and trying to guess who's who.
I looked it up and it has apparently won the best tv series for the Galician Awards. There're only two seasons. Dang. The protag is fascinating. I'm cheering for her to survive till the end. After all, one never knows whether a protag would survive though they generally do but the writer might go for some twists or something.

I'll have to watch it again because I'm sure I missed stuff / clues.

Watched "Official Secrets" with Keira Knightley (whom I don't particularly care for as an actress), but the movie was good. Also watched the last (half, I guess?) of "The Stranger" with Hannah John-Kamen.....Quite enjoyed that.
Not sure I'll find something tonight.... Have kinda gotten away from The Citadel, and sometimes I don't find anything on either Netflix, Prime or Disney to watch. Would rather go to bed early and listen to a podcast. But maybe I'll check something out tonight.
I think my mom wanted to watch one of the Jack Reacher movies with Tom Cruise, so I may watch that with her.

Just got home from the cinema where I watched Guardians Of The Galaxy. It was gooooood, pulled on the heart strings and had some really nice banter plus a good villain. The ending song is just awesome and so very fitting.

Lady Voyeur, Mystery, Brazil, R21, 10 eps
Story is about a professional hacker, Miranda, who couldn't help but spied on the sexual escapades of a woman, Cloe, who lived in another building across from her on the same level. They became friends. One day Cloe asked Miranda to look after her dog as she was invited to a party at a hotel over the weekend.
The story turns out to be surprising good. I was kept guessing until the end.

Binge watched all 3 seasons of Into the Badlands (enjoyed it, but I understand why it got cancelled), Shadow and Bone, which was also interesting, and Fear the Walking Dead (they lost me after season 3 but I plugged through season 4, then called it quits) I am looking forward to seasons 2 of Wheel of Time and The Rings of Power and season 3 of The Witcher, but my favorite show right now is an anime called Dr. Stone: The Stone Wars (seasons 1&2)and A New World (season 3) on Crunchyroll. It's about what happens 3,700 years after a weird green light flashed across the world and turned all the people to stone. Ishigami Senku, a young brilliant scientist, (the first to break out of the stone)makes it his mission to revive mankind and bring science/technology back (with his "Kingdom of Scienc) after it's been lost for thousands of years. It's a fun show with an interesting cast of characters.

Women of the Night, Dutch, 10 eps
Nothing about it stands out as there is little depth to most of the characters. You get the typical bad guy who wants to own his own piece of pie, the typical bad old lady boss, the bad obedient bulldog who yaps, bites and kills, the dumb daughter of the protag couple, the typical investigator who makes lousy decisions because he's can't see anything but the goals before him.
Story is about a couple. The husband was appointed the spokesperson of the mayor of Amsterdam and the goal was to clean up the city of crime, etc. The wife, Xandra, main protag, was in the prostitute business when she was very young and met her husband, Michel when he was appointed her lawyer. She now holds a good job but by "chance" met a friend, Pamela, who's the madam of an escort service.
Pamela asked Xandra to be her assistant for an important function. However, Pamela was murdered the next day after a mole in the investigative team betrayed her. Xandra was asked to take over the escort agency, Bliss, as she knew the person, Raoul, who's in charge. Through this connection, Xandra was drawn back into a web of crime and danger.
This show is average but it's not a puzzle crime show. The writing isn't terrible and yet it isn't good either. The flaws are glaring. I didn't drop this straight away after a couple of eps because I was intrigued by Xandra because her history is shown in, annoying, brief flashes. When she's extremely stressed, after meeting someone from her past, she inflicts self injury. What's the motivation behind this, I've no idea. Is it to numb her mental pain? Is it an attempt to "burn" memories away? Guilt? Self loathing?
There is a lot of opportunity to build this character, to explore what makes her what she is before and now and how is she going to deal with the problems arising from her connections to the past. Unfortunately, there's none of that. Too bad.
Still, it's watchable and it has a good ending. I give it a plus because I like good endings. 😄 The main actress is ok but I've a feeling she can be more if the material she's given is better written.

Babylon 5 reactions
I've been watching some YTubers, a couple of them are ST fans, experienced Babylon 5 for the first time and at the same time, I also relived the journey I went through in the 90s. They're enjoying the experience and always discussed their views and predictions after each episode. It's fascinating to hear their opinions and think; oh, I wasn't think of this back then or I was thinking the other way, etc.
One of them has finished the entire series and it's always heartbreaking to watch Sleeping in Light. More so now that most of the cast have gone beyond and are now, as Lorien would have put it, exploring the Rim. JMS, the creator and writer of Babylon 5, made a comment; God must be a fan of B5, he keeps collecting the cast!
Babylon 5 is equivalent to The Lord of the Rings. No SF tv series had me immersed so deeply in the characters' journeys, their trials and tribulations, their joys like Babylon 5. At the end of the journey, tears are shed as characters bid farewell. To this day, no other SF tv series have beaten it in my list. No other SF tv series have such characters and writing that tugs on the heart and mind.

Control Z. Mexico, Youth Drama, 3 seasons
Story is focused on the events that happened at a college after a hacker began leaking secrets to the students. The series revolved around the events that happened in the first season and the consequences that reverberated through the next two seasons.
Main character is Sofia, who's a loner due to trauma she suffered as a child after her father died in a fire. She's intelligent, astute and very observant with a didactic memory. She loves anything that challenges her so she goes all out to solve the mysteries. At the end of the third season, she and her friends / school mates graduated and move on to adult life.
The conclusion is surprising, yet it fits her. This has to do with her love interest. The question has always been who is the one she would choose. Given her personality, I can't say her choice is surprising. She will never be satisfied or challenged with a loving but ordinary partner. Her choice job is again no surprise either; she chose to be a journalist.
I have to say this series took me by surprise. I wasn't sure about it and was expecting some mundane tale of a student who hacked into students' and school staff's phones for information / secrets for revenge / blackmail. It's a little threatical sometimes but it's an enjoyable watch all the same.
Diary of a Gigolo, Spanish, drama, crime, 10 episodes
As per the title, story is of a gigolo, Emanuel, whose employer often tells her stock of young men that they are to ensure the clients have a good time, that they are to empathise with the clientss needs and that no drugs are allowed.
Emmanuel faithfully fulfilled this dictum and is very popular with the clients. One day, one of the clients, Ana proposed that she employed him for her daughter Julia. She wants him to befriend Julia, and encourage her to emerge from her shell. Emmanuel objects and says it's not ethical but Ana insists that she just want him to be friends, not offer sex to Julia. He refuses but she stuffs Julia's diary which she took from Julia's room and put it in his bag along with a blank cheque.
Julia has not spoken to her mother, Ana, since she was about ten years old. Her father had taken her out to enjoy a holiday with her but an accident happened that killed him and left her scarred on her arms and back. Now in college / university, she's studying fine arts.
Emanuel found the diary, read it, became intrigued and set out to befriend Julia. He found it difficult as she was reclusive but eventually, when he finally got her to talk to him, committed the "sin" his employer constantly warned her employees about; never fall in love.
Main protag, Emanuel, is handsome. 😄 Julia is beautiful. 😄 The actress is Mexican and her name took me by surprise. Rather British.
The conclusion is left open. Viewers are free to chose the ending; did Emaneul drive off with Julia when the traffic lights turn green? I'm inclined for a yes because of what he did in a certain event.
Overall, an interesting drama.

I'm watching Silo on Apple TV. It's been fairly good so far (six episodes out), despite being somewhat tropey. Good acting and actors, decent script, would recommend. The elephant in the room is of course Fallout, but I'm not complaining, at least not yet.

I started HBO "last of us" on prime. Nothing to complain about but i fast forward many "exploration under stress" scenes cause it s too much (for me) with the music . Very good stuff imo. Especially character writing and actors.
Ep. 3 was good even if the side char story which last most of the episode is a bit caricatural and not really realistic, it s still really cool.
Is it old ? I see spring 2023 on amazon, i guess that s when they bought it
Seems not, HBO and amazon distributing then
(i agree with Kappa Neko few pages before : if the witcher could have been half that good, it would have felt enough)

Really really enjoying "Ted Lasso" on Rotten Fruit Minus..... I know I'm seriously late to the party, and honestly at first glance, I really didn't think I'd be interested in it. Plus it was recommended to me by my aunt and uncle who have a stellar track record for saying a movie is "the most amazing thing ever".....then we watch it and 10 minutes in it is the absolutely worst, mind-numblingly pointless and horrible thing ever seen. So anything they say is "great" we actively try to avoid.
But this.....this is the very first thing they have ever recommended that we can truly say we agree with them. Except for one episode (Season 2 Ep 9)..which truly was completely pointless , needless and unnecessary.....my mom and I have enjoyed watching every single other episode.

I rewatched S2 of Barry before delving into S3+4 because I couldn't remember much. So good! The episode with the little girl is brilliant absurd comedy.
I was warned that S3 becomes total misery porn and my ex stopped watching halfway through the season because too much drama. I dismissed it because I usually LIKE relationship drama, if done well. So I wasn't too worried.
...watched the first episode and thought, damn, he was right. Totally different vibe and gosh I still fucking hate Sally. Ugh.
Watched the second episode, didn't get better but not worse. I'll watch the whole thing. A friend said the ending is GOOD (and then proceeded to spoil the whole thing, thanks, man). I hope it gets better again though. Was such a nice show to watch as a huge (disgruntled) Dexter fan. A lot of similarities. Glad to know at least the ending won't royally suck here.
Anybody watch Barry? Does it get better again?

Cable Girls, Spanish, Drama
Story is set in 1920s, about four girls of different backgrounds who applied to be telephone operators. The ladies are interesting, typical but the producers made a bad decision regards the music. They used modern music instead of music from that era. It's not as if there's horrible 1920s music or there isn't any examples. That will be a lie.
It could have been an interesting venue to explore the music of the 1920s. Instead, the producers squandered it in favour of ridiculous modern swing that's out of place.

I'm rewatching Archive 81 on Netflix. I liked it then, and I like it even more now. It's a shame they cancelled it after the first season, although it doesn't matter much plotwise; season one is contained enough to stand on it's own. I'm beginning to think the show is far too brainy for today's audiences.

"today's audiences" are into shows like Ain't that the truth. There is one reality I like though, The Curse of Oak Island. 10th Season finished some time ago, and it's still going strong. I mean, yeah, it's on History Channel, so there's your usual amount of filler, but you can skip them. (that's what I do anyway)
