I couldn't make it through the first new episode of the new Titans. (Not a new season, part 2 of, whatever season...) Anyways, I think I've given up on it. We'll see... but. Yeah.
WoT S2 feels like it should be appearing sometime relatively soon, that must be fall. I check but google is so far away.
Fair. It has always been a bit uneven in terms of quality. I did see that S4 was split in to two (and that it is the final season). I just thought Lex was cool and liked the depiction of Star Labs in the first episode. I enjoyed parts, mostly Hawk, Dove, and Wondergirl. The older crowd now I think of it. Go figure.
It was an interesting take on Lex. That actor in particular, I've seen him in several things but this was quite different from his previous roles.
Have you seen Peripheral or Severance?
***
Gonna keep watching Hijack after episodes 2+3, it's got me curious still. Almost comical how much they're trying to do within the tiniest set ever. Production costs must've been hilarious.
Still, they keep dangling a carrot that I want.
***
WoT S2 is Sept 1st.

Liked Wondergirl, but Hawk and Dove were the things I liked the least. Dove was...not a good actor, at least in this role. Maybe she's better in other things, but just couldn't find her believable. Ritchson was a good actor as Hawk (but better as Reacher, so everyone did well there) but an annoying character. He did, however, have the best moment - comedy-wise - of the entire series. When Dick shows up in his Nightwing outfit for the first time. Sweetest burn I've seen in quite a while. Haven't seen either. I've heard of Severance, but not heard of Peripheral. Both Netflix? Hijack is the Idris Elba one? That does look worth a watch. Since S2 is meant to be part book 2, part book 3 - we get Brigitte or we riot.

Dove was hawt and I'm a boobs guy and apparently it's cold where they work. I liked Hank, but in the "I wouldn't want to be real friends with this guy but on TV he's fine" sorta way. I got a lot more from their struggles with each other and substances than most other stories. They were a bit more mature, and grounded some of the otherwise fanciful flights. I liked him as Reacher too. Speaking of which a S2 of Reacher should be around the corner I imagine. Uh, Severance and Peripheral aren't Netflix. Severance is Apple and Peripheral is HBO I believe but that's looped into a weird bundle here in Canada by our Telecom-Overlords. What little I know of Peripheral is that it's produced (not directed or written) by the same people that did Westworld, and that the people are the peripherals in some fashion. I am still sad Westworld got cancelled and loved all the seasons. I don't know jack about Severance but I can guess it has something to do with how their workers... er, quit. shocked pikachu, they probably don't.
Hijack, yup Elba. Like I said, bit dry to start. The hook for me was, I believe it is literally the last line in episode 1. It can be taken obviously but obviously isn't meant to be taken obviously save by the obviously impaired.
WoT. I honestly dunno what I want from next season. I did enjoy the first. Can barely remember the books though. I stopped reading at 10, then Sanderson took over and breezed thru those when he finished but didn't retain much and didn't reread.
I would like to know why the Seanchan flooded a barren beach with one single girl on it to start their invasion. Also why was that girl all alone on that beach? Where are her parents? And which art director greenlit a barren beach to get attacked?
Edit: Alright then link, be that way.

I watched Beef on Netflix. It was decent. Glenn was my favorite Walking Dead character so I was willing to give the series a chance for the actor. First episode didn't grab me but kept watching. It turned into delightful absurd everything spirals long out of control dark comedy only to go way too dark for my liking in episode 7. That shit was not funny to me anymore. Almost ruined it for me. Final episode was good though. I mean, I'm not sure I agree with what the show's message is and the ending is very predicable but that's OK. Because it makes sense and you see it coming a mile off.
It's a very well acted little series. It's just that I'm sort of tired of modern storytelling always being about how people are screwed up and depressed because the world is screwed up and that somehow excuses the bad shit people do and you should feel sorry for them. While the ending is open and you don't really know what will happen to the characters long term they kind of didn't really get what they deserve imo, it was all a big pity party. The show kind of flip flops between the characters knowing that there is no excuse for their behavior and you can't blame everything on bad parenting and then somehow making it all about their bad childhood anyway. There is no real character growth. Just self loathing and then kind of accepting the shit person you are and telling the audience that even these shit people deserve to be loved. Which is questionable to me if they don't change. l which is something that is up for debate at the end. So not sure what to make of it.
The ending is kind of touching but somewhat unearned for me. 7/10

Dove was hawt and I'm a boobs guy and apparently it's cold where they work. Well, if that's the metric, then yes - she was the best part of the show I liked Hank, but in the "I wouldn't want to be real friends with this guy but on TV he's fine" sorta way. I got a lot more from their struggles with each other and substances than most other stories. They were a bit more mature, and grounded some of the otherwise fanciful flights. I liked him as Reacher too. Speaking of which a S2 of Reacher should be around the corner I imagine. They story was fine. I just couldn't get past her acting and his characterisation. Shame, really - because there was definitely material to mine in that dynamic and backstory. Looking forward to Reacher S2. S1 was really solid. The man is an absolute beast and totally sells the role.
I think there was actually discussion about the beach thing when the episode released...? Can't recall specifically, but I think it was decided they used 'rule of cool'. The Seachan did it because they could.

Watched Ghosted (Chris Evans, Ana de Armas) last night.
It was fine. Couple of genuinely funny moments and a whole lot of nope from someone who gets a little vertigo at heights right near the end.

Finally watched GotG3. This↓. In my fucking head. ALL day. Still is as I write this. Not terrible but still... all day. *** Movie was good. Bittersweet, felt like a conclusion despite all the continuances. Still glad we got it after all the firing and whatnot though.
My biggest critique would be the music oddly enough. Some tracks were great (or at least parasitic in the above case) but some just felt tonally off. Like they were trying to use songs that fit sorta-but-not-quite because they needed to use those songs somewhere.
The antagonist, whom I loved in Peacemaker, did another good job. He has two main motivations, "Seeking Perfection" and "Actually I'm a Control Freak with Anger Management Issues." I love the actor for failing into the latter while trying to fulfill the former. Also, the man knows how to sell his anger. Anger is easily sold, but I'd buy his over many others.
Quill's face at the end there kinda got me I must admit. I didn't think they'd permanently kill him but that made me think he was taking a long hiatus or something. Damn dude. Painful.

Kind of need to rewatch this one, watched at the tail end of the day.
Spoilery bit for Secret Invasion Ep3... I'm not sure she's dead?
I need more context on the wife getting the gun, is mostly what I mean by the rewatch. I was in and out. She's meant to assassinate angryskrull-leader right, but, was that it?

Gaia I'm sure she's not dead. But who knows? It would be weird getting a 'name' like that to kill them as motivation for a character that was already plenty motivated half way through the series, but I guess "things aren't what they seem" is the central message, right? Wife I actually meant who she was talking to on the phone. Did you recognise the voice?
The gun, mixed with the conversation with Fury about him staying away by choice and leaving her leads me to think they want us to believe that she's following Gravik.

Rise of Phoenixes, Chinese fictional historical drama, 70 eps
Really no mood to play games so I've been watching tv shows for the past few days.
This drama started off well. The story started with the rise of the Tiansheng kingdom. The victorious king knowing that his sons would fight for the throne, immediately set them tasks to hunt the remaining forces of the defeated kingdom. Using a scheme he set up, the eldest prince snatched victory from the ninth prince, Ning Yi, (who was very young but managed to track down the rebels) and declared he was the one who killed the rebels. The king appointed him the crown prince and the ninth prince was imprisoned in a temple for 18 years.
Ning Yi bided his time and when he was released, his intention was not to fight for the throne but to reveal the crown prince's plots which killed the third prince who was the only one who was righteous and cared for the ninth prince as his mother (a concubine) had died. As Ning Yi carefully planned with his allies and friends, his path kept running into that of Feng Zhi, an intelligent young woman from the Qiu family.
The early eps started off very well. The two main characters' personalities, intelligence and their goals were set. However, the writing went haywire in the late 40+ eps. The personalities of the two main characters became inconsistent and the plot derailed. The conclusion was moronic. I give this a minus because stupid sad ending that is illogical.
This is a drama made before 2020. I remember regulations were passed to restrict Chinese dramas to 40 eps after it was found that productions cost were too lavish, etc, but I had no idea when. I think it's a good regulation because imo, most Chinese writers and producers are unable to hold consistency for lengthy dramas. If it's 70 eps, a stable visionary helmsman is needed to steer the ship.
The Blue Whisper, Chinese fantasy xuxia, 42 eps
Basically, the story is about the middle faction of spiritual masters whose abode is the Flower Valley, a realm between the high immortals and the earthy demons. The spiritual masters are responsible for capturing demons and chaotic spirits. Spiritual masters are considered immortals and therefore cannot interact with mortal demons, etc.
Yunhe is a spiritual master who preferred to persuade demons and chaotic mortals to take positive good action than to outright kill them. One day, she was given the task of taming a merman, Chang Yi, who was captured from the Eastern Sea by Fairy Shunde for the purpose of turning him into an attendant for the immortal. She was to make him talk, convince him to chop off his tail and give up as his innate power pearl.
Though spiritual masters were supposedly able to leave if they wanted to, none, including Yunhe could do so. She discovered the secret behind the pain and and torment she and every spiritual master had to suffer and more that threatened to derail everything into chaos.
The conclusion is a good one though it's not shown properly. I had to look up the answer on YT. It's an enjoyable drama and I give it a plus +++ because happy ending. 😄

Finished watching the 2020 remake of "Doogie Howser", "Doogie Kamaeloha, MD"....It is obviously meant for a younger crowd, but I enjoyed it. The bonus for me was that Jason Scott Lee, one of my favourite actors from when I was a kid because he played in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (and in which I thought he did an excellent job), he was in this show. He's 56 years old and he looks as though he has aged very well. I haven't seen him in anything since..... Jungle Book, I think from 1994 or maybe Time Cop II.
And speaking of Doogie Howser....I totally forgot that the title character was played by a young Neil Patrick Harris. I have never cared much for him as an actor, but it was cool to see him in one of his formative roles from way back when.
There are several other shows on Mouse Minus that I plan on watching.

just started watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.....and Baldur's Gate is name dropped!
I know Baldur's Gate is part of the D&D franchise, lore and mythos....But still it is pretty cool to hear the reference .
Here's hoping they make BG into a movie!

Finished JACK RYAN Season 4 (Final Season; Series Conclusion) It was very well done, though I have some minor gripes about some characters.
Still watching "The Catch" on Mouse Minus... Also in the same vein, I'm watching "Burn Notice" and "White Collar", though periodically.
Tonight, my mom and I are going to watch "Champions" with Woody Harrelson on Amazon Prime. I'm still trying to convince my mom to watch "Avatar: The Way of Water" and if she doesn't hurry up and agree to watch it with me....well then I'm just going to watch it on my own (albeit it will be the second time I will have seen it, but th3e first time doesn't count. It was at work, using a 720p Projector and a SMART Board.. so horrible picture). To quote Obi-Wan, "That one doesn't, doesn't count."

Shame David Warner isn't still around; love to see him reprise his role as Irenicus.
I'd love a Bhaalspawn mini-series come to think of it. Plenty of content.
