Yes, the environments are beautiful. But we all know Bioware can create amazing, creative environments. Are they even captured in-engine? or are they just fancy CGI? They hyped us so much to go watch the Game Awards but did we learn anything new???
We've already seen 1/2 of the gods next to Solas, he was in one of the concept arts that they've shown. We already know there's going to be a new protagonist. We already know we're going to Tervinter. What was this trailer supposed to tell me that I didn't already know myself? Even the BTS trailer was more informal!
This is frustrating... really. Solas looks cute though, they definitely rotated his eyes and gave him more attractive eyebrows.

One thing that stood out to me is that if the range of characters shown are examples of our PC, why are they always alone? It felt extremely odd when Varric said “we got your back” as the PC traversed through a snowy, dark, red lyrium infested terrain companionless. Who is “we”, and if they have my back, why am I alone? Combat certainly doesn’t look like it’s going to be party-based anymore, so.... I don't really think everything there is supposed to be taken literally. We are likely shown alone, crouching and in darkness, because that'd be kind of the mood of the story (also, while companions are important, they ARE trying to make a point that the new hero will be singularly important and instrumental to success of whatever it is there tro be accomplished). Spies and secret operatives usually either work alone or in small groups. Still, I have to wonder - if the game will indeed be heisty!sneaky!spy-ish! - if it means that we may be controlling our party differently? Like ordering one of the companions to sneak and get to the lever that lowers the gates, while we shoot that sentinel on the other side of the map, all the while the other companion is distracting enemies in the middle?

Rich, branching narratives, choices with consequences, and intriguing characters are central to the entire Dragon Age franchise, and we’re putting a lot of work into these. You’ll form relationships with companions who will fight by your side when you experience this true Dragon Age saga set in Thedas, a world in need of a new kind of hero. This part about the branching and choices sounds promising. Also they are really emphasizing the new hero. I think that's smart to ensure people aren't still expecting the Inquisitor if that's not what they are doing. Although I still wonder if the Inquisitor could be playable in some capacity, but who knows.

It's a bit telling that the blogs inspire to me a bit more hope then the actual teaser, but hey, at least what they're saying is right and good, if they deliver on those.

As long as we still have a party, there's still an argument for not turning the game into full-blown Assassin's Creed. Also, is it just me or did we have yet to see anything that "could be taken as protagonist", but using magic?

The comments about Dragon Age, at least, indicate - further - that it will not be 'Anthem with Dragons', i.e. Co-op/MP game. Which is good. New setting, new protagonist, new visual style, new combat genre - none of that would be enough to put me off, if the game is narrative/character driven SP game. Co-op/MP (because, even if it's hybrid, that will be the focus), is pretty much the only thing that would cause my anticipation to tank. Note - that's different to DAI which was a SP game with a MP mode. When I say 'hybrid', I mean a game you can play solo, but which is designed to be played with others.

Oh, agreed, but to be fair, everything they said in blogs and summary is fine and good, in regards of the type of game I want. At this point, unless they'd be blatantly lying, I think I can be somehow sure on this part at least. As for you, the new bits aren't my main concern, although I still say that they caused troubles for themselves with Tresspasser, as most would've been fine with a new PC without it.

I'd say that the way characters move/things are animated is indicative of in-game footage (if it's not something that will remain in game in such shape, it's likely generated in-engine, with stuff from the new game), rather than cinematics per se, or something created entirely outside of already existing game, its environments and assets.

This "a new kind of hero" stuff is interesting. That clearly means something.
Varric seems a little overdone at this point, but not too surprising to see him back.

True, they're hardly going to use their blog to reveal that DAN (Dragon Age Next) will be a MMO Looter/Slasher, I suppose. I disagree on Trespasser. I think it tied things off very nicely, cleanly and clearly. But I understand that is not a universally held view. It does seem to be Bioware's view, though, which is all that really matters for the game that DAN will be.

This "a new kind of hero" stuff is interesting. That clearly means something. Yeah - that stood out to me, as well. The first three DA games had heroes that 'stepped forward into the light' and completed these world-altering tasks in view of the Maker and all the peoples of Thedas. Maybe the heist/spy style of the abandoned version of this game has been retained and we'll be operating exclusively in the shadows? The world will never know our name, but owe us an unpayable debt. That kind of thing? OR Lord of Fortune (because I like the idea, not that I think it is in any way confirmed) - dude, just pay me and tell me who you want dead.

So, the only things they announced was that we'd get a new protagonist (which the summary already all but confirmed) and that Varric wil be back. I like Varric, but I honestly don't see *why* he needs to be back again. I hope he'd have an advisory role, and not a companion role. Minrathous, if it is truly that, looks good, at least. That's possible he may just come back in an advisory role it's also possible he's just narrating the trailer. Narating things is his specialty after all.

It does seem to be Bioware's view, though, which is all that really matters for the game that DAN will be. Not for me. I thought we were going to say goodbye to Inky in Trespasser - and they did virtually everything to retain the character and give a reformed Shadow Inquisition a new mission, focused around the guy they DEFINITELY want to retain and still make a big part of the story. Inquisition is also hinted to be the decisive player in all the recent books and comic books and - as far as we know - it's still led by Inky. So, while that doesn't indicate the extent of the role they'd have in this new title, so far the indication is that they should have some sort of vital role in the story.

Things I liked - Varric coming back. I love the tragicomedy of Varric always being involved in some shit, never getting a break. - The settings looks nice, especially the city portion. - Confirmed new PC and the '' no prophecies, no magic hand '' bit of the dialogue. I like that. - I guess the mural has some things the community can talk about for the next few days.
Things I didn't like - We essentially learn nothing new, just confirming things we already expected/knew. - Lack of companions. Surely it's just moving concept art but where are the companions. The only thing I wanted from the trailer was seeing one or two confirmed companions, didn't get that. - Beyond the mural, there's quite little to actually talk about.
I'd rather get like 10 new pieces of concept art that was detailed and included concepts of upcoming companions though.

If it was in engine footage they would've stayed it. Instead they said something along the lines of "not Representative of gameplay" I'm certain it was in engine. There's like a tier system: CG, in engine, and in game. The fact that they specified "not in game" implies to me that it was in engine.
But "in engine" means basically everything could be tailor-made for the trailer, and thus unlikely to reflect what the final game will look like (graphics, animations). Art style is probably accurate I think.
