DragonKingReborn : Nice demonstration, but I think therevanchist25 has made up his mind. Please don't make him challenge his preconceived notions with some logic and facts. Showing that his claim is utter BS requires one whole google search, you can't expect anybody to put that much effort into this. Can't decide on a rating for his trolling. Git gud/10 or PEBKAC/10 ?

It is actually quite possible to play Witcher 3's combat with precision instead of spammery. I found it actually easier to use well timed step-backs (against monsters and humans with two-handers) or ripostes (against humans with one-handers) augmented with signs as needed to fight on Death March difficulty. I took out one of those huge bandit camps in Blood & Wine by just using Axii to make them kill each other - as a proof of concept, it's not really a viable method due to the time required to get results. I thought the highest difficulty level greatly encouraged focused precision attack and defense instead of crazed weasel dodge-roll fests. Sir, Step backs, IS DODGING. A dodge has a very simple definition, physically moving out of the way. As for ripostes, yea, you can do that too, but that is not a different style of combat. Being able to riposte does not change the fact that Witcher 3 only plays 1 way, Move around, avoiding damage. But everyone wants to sit here and argue semantics about what fucking dodging is because they refuse to acknowledge what I'm actually talking about because they can't get over someone saying anything negative about Witcher 3.

My game must be broken. There was only so much time I was prepared to put in to this, and I am NOT good at TW3 combat, but there was no roll (spam or otherwise) or Quen (spam or otherwise) harmed in the making of this video. Other fight types mandate block/parry instead of dodge (and I know I can parry strikes from monsters claws, but that looks stupid). And yes - previous to this - I'd run around finding the Places of Power in White Orchard. Quen is optional, yes. All signs are optional. But this video does not change the reality that there is only one way to engage the game. Head on. That's it. You cannot do anything outside of that tiny definition. And Cyberpunk provides far more variety than that. Period. But if people wanna sit here and get butt hurt because someone is saying anything bad about Witcher 3, that's not my problem. All you dudes sitting here projecting garbage like "Git Gud" are just triggered fanboys who don't want to hear what I'm saying.

I'm perfectly fine with people not liking games I enjoyed. I'm sure they like games that I didn't find particularly fun either. I'm not sure how I gave the opposite impression. What would you have liked better then as far as Witcher 3 combat is concerned? A more sign-heavy option that let you blast things from afar without ever needing to engage in melee? More melee options like shields or two handed weapons? Assassin's Creed or Deus Ex style stealth? Actually effective crossbow sniping? I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything, I'm genuinely curious.

Yea, pretty much. let me focus on the crossbow, let me be a mage and almost exclusively use signs, let me stealth past people or monsters or use sneak attacks. Basically, let me be something that isn't a fucking Witcher, because Witcher's in lore are shoe-horned into this narrow box of combat options.

If they're smart they'll have actual classes in the next Witcher game, because the lore really does limit things.

More options would have been really nice, but I suppose that train left the station in the early 2000s when they decided to make Geralt the protagonist instead of letting you create one of your own. Combat gameplay was never a particular strength of the Witcher franchise and I think they made some progress in Cyberpunk there.

Oh, wow. The extent of my "butt hurt" stems from people who make subjective claims and present them as objective fact. Your point - after some goal post moving - may have been that you can only meet the game "head on", but what you said was - Quen, Dodge, Quen, Dodge etc. And that's what I was replying to. Maybe some here would 'defend' TW3 - I can't really be bothered with that. If I was going to defend any game, it would be DAI, which I like considerably more than I like TW3, but even then, why the fuck would I bother? How is someone who has a different opinion of a game I like a problem that I need to fight? Someone stating their opinion as if it were fact and being kind of aggressive about it is a different story, though. Especially with something so easily disproven. I'm only 43 hours into CP2077 at the moment, and stealth works for me...but only to a point, perhaps I need to 'git gud'. I really, really don't like the way melee (either unarmed, lethal or non-lethal)works or handles, so that leaves guns. Oops. There is one way to play the game. "Period".

Those goalposts sure are shifty.
Also complaining about having to fight like a Witcher in a game where you play a Witcher... I can't even.
And I am not going through the whole thread to double check, but I am pretty sure nobody here said anything about combat in TW3 being amazing or whatever.
