While we don't seem to have many new players writing here maybe we should still put some more specific stuff regarding the ending in spoilers for those people lurking here who haven't finished the game yet?

I'm glad you enjoyed it, talyn82. There is most variety and replayability baked into these games than you'd imagine. Choices big and small create changes in later games. You can alter the make-up of your crew and the world around you. It's pretty amazing. Don't be afraid to mix up the dialogue and choices. This isn't Star Wars, so there is no Dark Side. Sometimes those lower-line options make more sense, sometimes in terms of Shepard's words, other times in terms of deed. Changing your choices at the big decision moments will create the biggest changes. I'm in the midst of my third LE playthrough, and I'm trying to build up an assortment of world states to import into later games. That being the case, I didn't recruit Wrex at all in ME1 this time. I use him a lot, so his banter pops into my head when we visit different sites. Still, the group fills the gameplay void and I look forward to seeing the lasting consequences of no Wrex-Shepard friendship. On your second time through ME1, you'll find that you get to choose a bonus power to add to all future Shepards. Pretty cool. It opens up possibilities. Did you get the Singularity achievement by using Liara's Singularity 25 times? If so, you can select it as a bonus power on a Vanguard and effectively have a better Adept. They get medium armor and shotguns along with Adrenaline Burst, a Soldier talent that lets you reset all cooldowns. Sentinels are my favorite class because they add biotics and tech together. You don't need to specifically train in weapons to be reasonably good with them. Enemies can't even shoot back, anyway, when you've Sabotaged their guns and sent them spinning through the air.

The series was a blast. it has officially replaced Dragon Age as my favorite series of BioWare games. Yes, I intend to make different choices, but not recruiting Wrex is tough one I love that guy. In my first playthrough I went full paragon although in ME2 and ME3 I made some Renegade choices, but the Paragon choices outweighed the Renegade choices. One of the hardest parts I can see is resisting Liara's and Tali's charms, like I said in my review thread I am history buff and tech geek in real life, so those two I instantly like. Another hard one is what to do with the Council's future. In my first playthrough I chose humanity. No I did not get the Singularity achievement. But I will go for it now. I'm still deciding what class to pick this time. The Sentinel class sounds good as well as the vanguard. I did not know that in my second playthrough of ME1 I get to choose a bonus power.

talyn82, there is a bug to be aware of when picking bonus powers. If you choose Sentinel or Adept, you have to be careful about non-weapons skills. Weapon training will not trigger this bug. So, for example, a Sentinel with Assault Rifles is unaffected. Any other type of skill will trigger the following bug: For my Sentinel, I chose Singularity. I evolved all my skills, including Singularity, nearly filling my power wheel. Then I dropped a point into Medicine (Neural Shock). This cause Neural Shock to kick Singularity off my power wheel, making it inaccessible. (I reloaded and just skipped Neural Shock for this character. It's pretty niche anyway.) There's a simple solution: Replace a power you won't use much (like Neural Shock in my case) with a great one you will use (like Singularity). I didn't plan it this way, but it worked out well. Singularity is the most powerful skill in tye game and I'd do it again.

I still haven't started a new game I am stumped on the other classes besides Soldier, Engineer, and Adept. There are so many choices and yet I don't fully understand what they do. I may just start with the class you recommended Sentinel. But I will try and avoid that bug you spoke off. Also any tips on how best to use a Sentinel? My first character was a Soldier so it was pretty much straightforward.

About disappearing power in ME1, since you play on PC, just put power that disappear on quickbar, it will stay there even when it's gone from the HUD when you pause the game. About Sentinel, I like to go full Roleplay and pick Warp as bonus power in ME1 and Stasis in ME2 and ME3. Since stasis isn't in ME2LE (hopefully they will bring it back), you can pick whatever fits your playstyle in MELE games.

My first character was a Soldier so it was pretty much straightforward. This thread has a lot of good stuff rescued from the closure of the old forums. It's for the original release, though; and a few minor differences do matter: bsn.boards.net/thread/1625/effect-trilogy-mechanics-character-compilationBefore Legendary Edition, a character couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when shooting a gun without skill points invested. The guides will accordingly value weapons. Now, in LE, these penalties have been removed. This means any Shepard is pretty good with any weapon. In my opinion, it's now best to just ignore weapon skills on most Shepards. I play on Insanity, and I've not missed weapons skills one bit on my Sentinel; and I now have more skill points to put elsewhere. I've likewise done the same for an Infiltrator, ignoring both Pistols and Sniper Rifles. I use the saved skill points to instead round out my tech skills. This Shepard ends up being an Engineer in medium armor with the Immunity talent. Pretty cool. For a Sentinel, there are a couple of ways to go. They have a good assortment of tech skills and biotics by default. You could add Assault Rifles and call it a day; but like I said, I think those are wasted skill points. Instead, you can fill holes in your tech or biotic capabilities. You said you wanted to play a biotic, so grabbing a biotic ability fits well. I recommend Singularity. In ME1, it's incomparable in terms of crowd control. If you do so, you'll essentially be an Adept who can also do all his own Decryption and Electronics work. You'll be able to use Sabotage and Overload, which are always useful. You'll even be able to use Stasis in a unique way; and your Barrier skill will be the best in the game. (These last two require picking Bastion as your specialization after the Rogue VI mission.) The only things an Adept will have that you won't is Pistol training (who cares?) and Warp. Warp is good, but doesn't compare to the long list of stuff you get as a Sentinel + Singularity.

The only things an Adept will have that you won't is Pistol training (who cares?) and Warp. Warp is good, but doesn't compare to the long list of stuff you get as a Sentinel + Singularity. With Immunity nerfed, Warp is far less useful than in original game, so I agree with Singularity as bonus.

I did not know that weapon skills did not matter in the LE version, in my first playthrough of ME1LE I maxed both assault rifles and pistols. Anyway great tips. I will check out the guide.

talyn82, Soldiers get a pass on investing in weapons since that's their thing. 😉 Your Sentinel probably won't feel as damaging with a gun as your Soldier. You likely won't care, though, as you suspend hordes of foes in the air, throw Krogan like ragdolls, etc...

sp; There are so many choices and yet I don't fully understand what they do. ah yes, choices. Would you like to do a hardcore playthrough? I don't mean difficulty, but what to do in the playthrough. Check out the link in my signature. If not, it gives you an idea how much can happen in one playthrough. One thing to note. Depending on when certain missions are completed, and who to talk with at certain times, the dialogue will likely be different. Just doing that while repeating your previous playthrough will be different because of what I posted. One example is in ME2. When letting Grunt out of the tank, depending on what you choose for dialogue, Shepard will shoot Grunt. Just something to look forward to when you start your next trilogy run.

I've been replaying as a Sentinel and been having a blast sabotaging weapons. I just completed the quest to find Tali and it was fun disabling Fist's weapons, he just stood there. Of course the first time I did this I forgot about the turrets lol. Also playing the second time something happened that did not happen my first time through. Garrus was in the medical lab on the Citadel defending the Doctor. The first time I played I must've bypassed this by going straight to Chora's Den. So when I recruited Garrus he was by the Normandy.

Yes. Mr. Martin Sheen voiced TIM. For replaying the trilogy. Any ideas what you will do differently from what you did on your previous playthrough? I do actually I want to play as another male Shepard eventually I'll give femshep a try as well. He will be biotic based he will choose Kaidan. He won't romance Liara. Other than that I'll make the Paragon choices again. OH! I also want to try making a unique Shepard looks wise. In ME2 I will romance Tali, although her tattoos are a turn off I wonder if I can romance Jack? If so maybe her instead of Tali. Once again I'll re-choose all paragon choices. In ME3 I will try to complete the side missions I did not complete my first time around. Also even though I liked the ending I chose the first time, I want to see the others also. Oh yeah and I also want to save a certain quirky doctor. That's all I can think of right now. But in all three games Shepard will be a biotic based character. If you play your cards right in ME2, you can actually wind up romancing one before the SM, breaking up, and then romancing all the rest after the SM (by sequentially breaking up with each of them and proceeding onto the next)... ending the run with whichever one you want to be flagged as your LI in ME3. This is my favorite MShep... who kind of goes off the deep end after Ashley dumps him on Horizon.
It really takes several playthroughs of intentionally doing things differently to see all the possibilities they've built into these games.

I agree with games like these it takes multiple playthroughs to see all the content. But I did not know I could romance one female and then after the SM break up with them and romance another. I remember after I did the SM and completed the game the game could continue after the ending. I spoke to the crew and most had only one new thing to say. Jack was the only one that had more to say. But that may have been because I completed all of the sidequests and dlc before the final mission.

But that may have been because I completed all of the sidequests and dlc before the final mission. To accomplish it, you have to stop talking with the ones you want to romance after the SM just before the conversation where you would commit to a relationship and you have to have left some of the side missions (usually some of the N7 ones) so that you can continue to trigger conversation opportunities after the SM. I usually leave about 5 N7 missions not done for this purpose.
To get on a romance path with Jack, you have to also first avoid having casual sex with her (per Kelly's advice about earning her respect).

Does the Legendary Edition fix the issues with Legion's conversations in ME2? In the original, if you finished all missions and assignments before recruiting it, then you wouldn't be able to experience all of its conversations. You would also have to sacrifice the crew in order to get it to talk about the human-reaper after the Suicide Mission. It was really frustrating. EDIT: Added spoiler tag because I did not realize this was the New Players thread.

quote removed to accommodate addition of their spoiler tag. Response in spoiler tag because this is a new player thread:
On the Xobx at least - You never had to sacrifice the crew in order to get Legion to talk after the SM... you only had to leave a couple of N7 assignments not done to have sufficient missions after the SM to trigger those additional conversations. You've already rescued the crew on the SM, so conversations after the SM do not affect the crew status.
If you have done all Loyalty missions prior to picking up the IFF, you need to open a second conversation with Legion immediately after finishing the one that starts when you activate him in order to get his Loyalty Mission. If you do that, you will have time to do that Loyalty Mission before the crew is abducted. If you haven't done all the other Loyalty Missions, you will have at least 2 missions available before the crew is abducted. Once the crew is abducted, if you do 1 - 3 missions, you lose half the crew. If you do more than 3 missions, you lose everyone but Chakwas.

When I first played ME2 I didn't know the game would continue afterwards, which is why I did all of the missions as quick as possible before the final one.

Sorry!
