I don't think they would have shown anything at EA Play this year if there was going to be one. The way the public, influencers, and press reacted to the changes with Dragon Age: Inquisition is probably going to be something that influences BioWare's approach to informing the public about their games. Just because the people around here want to know more now, it doesn't mean its a good business decision because these type of presentations are about generating hype for the game too far in advance is a complete waste of developer time getting something ready to present. The Game Awards I think would be a good time if they are looking for a release in the first half of 2023, otherwise I think it would be EA Play in 2023 if its in the second half of 2023. My exact thoughts. Really it seems marketing trends go in one or two different directions. Announce something YEARS in advance and then string along teasers until they get ready for a big reveal around 6 months before launch. Or just do something six months before launch. It is always the battle, while I wouldn't mind them showing off and giving in depth information I also know that people won't accept it and look for any little thing to whine about if the final product is just missing something. If Gruhb is right then June/July of next year sounds more reasonable. Which is super frustrating because of A. time and B. all the teasers we already have gotten. Doesen't mean they can't talk about the game till then but any major reveal would have to wait until closer till release.

Doesen't mean they can't talk about the game till then but any major reveal would have to wait until closer till release. I agree, I always thought the teasers they have shown for Dragon Age were too early (same with that ME teaser, but I digress). I think some of that was in response to Anthem and all the "reports" about how BioWare is doomed and Dragon Age & Mass Effect are over. The other wrinkle would have been the first game being cancelled, but waiting until closer to launch would have meant that would not have been shown. My opinion and this is all armchair PR, but about now those teasers they released in the past this would be a good time to start for the overview of the game should be complete and I would think a lot of the game's major beats have been developed. So start teasing now to get the long term fans interested and the people that want the major announcements won't really care. Now this PR I would firmly place on the EA side of things for that would be where all the marketing and PR ideas would come from and BioWare just follows what they are told in that regard to have demos and such ready for them to present. Which I find strange for I don't think they have a lot of hype more then a year or so in advance. Its about 18 months prior to release the game announcement is made, then the behind the scene content happens for a bit and slows down, and then a major announcement at some event. I could be wrong, but that is how it feels to me.

I could be wrong, but that is how it feels to me. I kind of agree really. The teasers to this point has had a definite 'for fans' message to it. Either showing stuff only fans will care about, random artwork, the lyrium idol, the mural, Solas, or messages for fans specifically 'no magic hand/ no ancient prophecy' they have not really marketed for the general public yet. And I don't see why that can't continue. I don't think we will get another trailer until they release the next one with hopefully a title drop and HOPEFULLY the start of more consistent marketing...those cost money. But they can easily continue along with that line. Maybe release another teaser for DA day or something even. But yeah release screen shots, concept art, tease the game in tweets. they'll definitley talk about it. Edit: In adition I did realize that six months might be a lot better because they can really show off a lot on this game in one concentrated area. It will depend on how much they want to share of course but 6 months would give just enough time to show off the locations, each country we go to, the important characters, gameplay, CC, etc. Hopefully we get quite the marketing blitz in one short span rather then it being spread out like it was with Andromeda.

Possible it could be at E3? E3 2022? I doubt it. The reason for them not having an EA Play is because they didn't have enough content lied up, so I would think it would be the same for E3. If they are going to release in the game in first half 2023 and aren't going to have an EA Play 2023 that is where I think we would see the game.

With EA Play Live cancelled, the OPs question is moot.
Pity, I was looking forward to a teaser video. Now, we may get something DA4-ish at E3 but my reading of the tea lieaves leans towards 2023.
My question is how on earth did EA get itself into this bind? Is the publisher infected with religion and now preaches "all studios must perfect their game before launch" and thus games got pushed back?

The original post was for 2021. The reason why EA is in this position is partly due to publishers taking more time to develop game and more people need to make each game so there is less games overall. Combine that with COVID protocols and working from home things are just slowing down. I can see publishers and developers wanting to make sure a game is in a certain state before presenting it for people will look for any reason to point out how they were lied to or mislead by content that was shown early. Players are unwilling to accept that things can change and they will throw a fit because something changed. Even with Anthem I still don't see all the difference people spent all kinds of time trying to find in the one teaser video and then complain about that over all the other problems with the game.

Well, with how the last Battlefield and The Sims 4 pack went, even if DA had stuff to show for the EAplay, probably many of the others studios at EA aren't in a place to show much, or at least EA would not make a EAplay for just one or two of their studios. They can just make smaller presentations a la State of Play/Nintendo Direct during the year, or partecipate at other events that don't require a big number of studios presentations from EA's studios.
