The prestige class are a D&D concept, the names aren't thought. Nothing stop them from calling a class Jedi Watchmen, but it doesn't mean it will have anything in common with the one in KoTOR II. In fact, all of KoTOR II prestige class names are in SWTOR as (advanced) class names (or title for Lord/Master) except for Weapon Master. The base classes too (Guardian, Consular and Sentinel). The forms names thought are from the Legend canon, but I'm not sure where they stand in the Disney one. I think it is probably safe to assume that - gameplay wise - very little will be the same as the original. For better or for worse, games have changed drastically in the intervening 18 years since KOTOR released. If it is a more action oriented game (as I'm anticipating) I can see the classes working similarly to the three broad ways you could build Geralt in TW3; Swords, Signs and Alchemy. Obviously, that tracks pretty well with Guardian and Consular, but not Sentinel. It was always the odd duck of the trio, anyway, though. Guardian, Consular and Sentinel map to Warrior, Mage and Rogue. Considering the lead gameplay designer and the lead producer previous RPGs both had that triplet (Kingdom of Amalur and Dragon Age Inquisition), I think we are going to see those again. Kingdom of Amalur allowed you to spent points in all 3 trees and your class name was actually a profile unlocked based on points invested in each (the inspiration for Mass Effect Andromeda). KoA combat gameplay is way more action than TW3, there is no pausing or slow down...and those Chakrams are basically lightsaber throws. I always go Mage because I love the Chakrams...

Are you seriously going to just keep deleting my posts when I havent said anything offensive about the devs, ur being silly now.... bsn.boards.net/post/1493999/threadGoing forward, please discuss KOTOR Remake as you will, but please leave individual developers out of it unless they comment on the KOTOR Remake in the press (and then their involvement in the topic should stay civil and relevant) This will be my last post on this thread seeing as I'm not allowed to share a link discussing the new KOTOR simply because it highlights tweets from one of the devs and raises valuable concerns. I assumed this was supposed to be an open discussion for people to talk about a remake to a game they loved but it seems like this isn't the case. Discussions that prevent the posting of valid concerns (directly related to the game) is not an open discussion. @mods you have been heavy handed with your actions here, its interesting that one of you decided to take shots at me via private msgs. It seems abuse of power is tolerated, I would ask for someone to take a look at these messages. Unlikely though as this will probably be deleted...

I don't have a problem discussing the game developers comments but in how the entire thread was devolving into a mud slinging event. I stated in various posts before the prunning began about how we needed to be careful how we expressed ourselves because while we are right to be concerned there is a point when our concerns turns into attacks and that ends up giving help to those who we are concerned about.

I would ask for someone to take a look at these messages. May I make the observation that when something like this kicks off, the moderators as a group discuss it at length, there is nothing that's being done on a whim. Beating up an individual dev (unless they act as a mouthpiece for a company) isn't something we do here. That's an abusive situation for any individual developer who shares their opinions (wise or otherwise online) because they can't fight back. And to reiterate, much of the 3 pages that was removed was civil (though some of it certainly wasn't) but unpicking the difference is impossible as it's nested quotes upon quotes. Most posters were just in the wrong place at the wrong time (and we discussed the matter with the OP of the thread). So for those who missed the debate, one of the KOTOR writers (Sam Maggs) has form from some years past for (in short) mocking people on Twitter who didn't like the diversity in the recent trilogy of Star Wars movies and some of her opinions (some in context, some not) were posted in an attempt to 'cancel' her for holding these opinions. So back to BSN rules, we're not 'trial by Twitter'. We're not going to have a woke vs. anti-woke fight on the pages of BSN over an individual developer's staff member. But by all means, let's discuss the actual game when we know, well, anything at all.

It is fucking amazing to me to see shit like this. Unfuckingabelivable really.
Never in a million years would I think that people in giant corporations making 10 times the salary of ordinary people need to be protected from the mere peasants when they voice their concerns.
The people in these corporations can say whatever they want to the fans, mock them, tell them to fuck off, but as soon as a fan says something back, its pearl clutching time.
Fuck off seriously.
The the mods who came up with this rule, you guys are protecting the Elite class. This is the shit that drives me crazy. Are you for the elites to rule over us? Seriously.

Wait, you think game devs make lots of money? You didn't take the tour of the Bioware HQ? The money pool is at least double Olympic size. Admittedly, it's full of loonies, but it all spends, right?

I see around or slightly above the national average. Nowhere near the ten times you were claiming. Don’t forget a lot of the studios are based in states it is expensive to live in so that cost of living goes into the salary. In short, thank you for proving you were wrong.

Running down the road with diversion buckets, you can talk those themes if they get too hot on PM now my two cents:
-I bought KOTOR for the original XBOX and never got to play it even on the 360 now I did lended it to a friend and he loved it as well the second entry and Battlefront 1. The copies of the games are still with me as I bought them Used from Game Stop a lot of years ago so I am still looking at the Remake with CAUTION.

I'm not going to follow up on the last few posts, as it seems it'll likely go off-topic, but in regards of the remake, it seems that Lucafilms heard/received different pitches for remakes/remasters for KOTOR.
Trent Oster from Beamdog congratulated Aspyr about the teaser and shown a sneak peek of their own pitch, called the 'Reforged Edition', which appeared to be more of a remaster then a remake.

Either way, I’d say it means they were more interested in a full remake.

I wonder if there are figures on the relative performance - saleswise - of remakes versus remasters. Remakes have the potential to alienate devoted fan/player bases, but remasters would seem - on the face - to have a smaller potential audience. That's obviously offset by the fact that remasters also probably have a much smaller cost base.

That's obviously offset by the fact that remasters also probably have a much smaller cost base. I think that depends what your end goal is. Remasters don't change anything outside upgrading the graphics and hardware compatibilities most of the time (maybe add back some cut content and small DLCs, but that is it). Remakes can be marketed as new games as they usually have new engine and new features/gameplay. They are often used as a way to reboot an IP, which usually have the goal to brining in new fans more than please the old ones (unless it's a cash grab, but those usually end up blowing up in the publisher/dev face). Disney preferring a remake makes sense to me, I'm sure they are things they wanted changed so KoTOR fit into their new canon. Also, attract lots of new players to SW.

A Valkorion picture was included in the Beamdog pitch. Seems like they wanted to tie all the KOTOR and SWTOR storylines in their Reforged collection. Might have been interesting. I sincerely doubt anything SWTOR-related will be included in the Aspyr version (that's a good thing, mostly, but I liked the Emperor's storyline).

It's already tied together thought hints in KoTOR and KoTOR II, he's just not named in either games, only hinted at. He's why Revan left for uncharted space before the events of KoTOR II (that's actually covered in a prequel novel to SWTOR) and why Revan tried to take over the Republic. I mentioned it before, but I suspect the remake will reference things from KoTOR II that should have been mentioned in KoTOR. Like Kreia being Revan's master. Giving a name to the threat Raven was trying to stop makes sense too. As for nothing from SWTOR being included, the lead writer on the remake, Courtney Woods, was a SWTOR writer (she left BioWare for Aspyr in 2020) and a lots of devs on this remake are ex-BioWare, mostly from the Austin studio which was SWTOR main studio (Aspyr is in Austin too). For all we know, Disney asked Darth Vitiate/Tenebrae/Valkorion to be added to the remake.

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.
