Roses are red

Violets are blue

But are violets really blue? Should they not be called violet? If we have a colour called violet why do we call violets blue? What is the meaning behind all of this? And Roses they are many colours, not just red, is this some kind of colour conspiracy? And why does spell check keep telling me that colour is the wrong spelling? Nonsense and Balderdash I say it is colour not color!

I wrote this in 2002 after a bad break-up.


Three's Over
She was my colour girl, and colour was added to my monochrome vision
my colour girl said 'take up your life', I was bound and beaten into submission.
She said 'any time you face the sea, just look to me and I'll be there too',
and I faced the sea, and as if in a dream, the black waves swept me straight to you.

Transitory, insubstantial, ethereal, recursed,
all these things from my creation given life to walk the earth.
And my colour girl walked beside me through my every waking dream.
And every thought was a thought of you, every topic, every theme.

Cherish the way that they alternate
cherish the way that they hold my fate
cherish the feeling when the engine turns
cherish the healing that scars and burns
cherish the thought of an original response
cherish the thought of what I thought I was once
cherish the time of television responses
cherish the speakers spewing nonsense

Ice age.

When the clock goes round and it all comes down
to the glacial spike in my heart.
When I see the senseless movement of lips
stagnate in icy shards.
My colour girl in another world, I'm crystalised in the storm,
when the freeze-over covers and the Ice Age smothers,
I'm absent and withdrawn.

Cold winds attack, in an icy wrap, 'till the chill becomes all I feel.
Everything withdrawing in, and only the ice is real.
Nothing moves, and indifference proves that the end of the world has come.
They meshed the moon, stained the stars, obliterated the sun.
The failing sun, the pallid gleam in mockery of day.
And I kill the light and embrace the night,
because the colour has gone away.

Reflected on the icy sheen,
the nebulous, twisting shades.
The auroric light, and the chilling sight,
that leaves me blind for days.

And the blanket of white that steals the light of heaven,
and the grinding ice that holds me down forever,
and the links the bind fractured, untied and severed.
And when I die the indifferent stars look downward.

One orc, Two orc, Red orc, Blue orc,
Black orc, Blue orc, Old orc, New orc.
This orc has a little car.
This orc has a little star.
Say! What a lot of orcs there are.
Yes. Some are red, and some are blue.
Some are old and some are new.
Some are sad, and some are glad,
And some are very, very bad.
Why are they sad and glad and bad?
I do not know, go ask your dad.
Some are thin, and some are fat.
The fat orc has a yellow hat.
From there to here,
From here to there,
Funny things are everywhere.
Here are some who like to run.
They run for fun from the hot, hot sun.
Oh me! Oh my! Oh me! oh my!
What a lot of funny things go by.
Some have two feet and some have four.
Some have six feet and some have more.
Where do they come from? I can't say.
But I bet they have come a long, long way.
we see them come, we see them go.
Some are fast. Some are slow.
Some are high. Some are low.
Not one of them is like another.
Don't ask us why, go ask your mother.

I've never wrestled a polar bear. (Perhaps a stuffed toy one.)

Have I ever scored a goal in hockey! SNORT! I was pretty good from the age of about 9 to 15. Scored many goals.

I curled for one year when I was 15, we won most of our games but I rather sucked.

Yes, yes I have flannel shirts but I do not have a good black and red plaid lumberjack shirt, someone can buy that for me next Christmas.

Roast? Give me a roast beef and I'll be happy.
