I disagree. Radiant quests are infinitely randomly generated quests. Games like Skyrim are full of them. There are none of those in TW3. Everything is handcrafted, so there are a limited number of quests. That doesn't mean that there are no fetch quests, but I feel that those are kept to an acceptable minimum. As for fetch quests, I feel like the game is rife with them. They are just better done and dressed in sheep's clothing. Contracts are essentially fetch quests, as are Treasure chases. I am not dissing the game, just these are my feelings. Agreed. Presentation and context are the difference between TW3’s fetch quests and DAI’s. TW3 had the cinematic conversation for all of the Contracts and they made sense for a professional monster hunter. That is literally his job. The armour hunts made sense (because there are so few Witchers left, it is natural for Geralt to be curious about them) and provided meaningful and visual benefit, rather than just +2 to fire resistance, or whatever. To sum up; context is everything, except for the things that are presentation. Most are both. While I love DAI and actually prefer it to TW3, there is no shame or issue in admitting when another game does the same thing as your favourite, but does it better.

I just got a Thank You card from Millie. Made me smile. Geralt also smiled. Fuck this game. Who's Millie? Is she one of Geralt's many conquests?
I believe she's the little girl Geralt saved from the Cat witcher who killed everyone in her village. He took her to stay with her aunt. You can go back there to check on her (which I think you mentioned you would do?)
As for buckthorn, that seems strange you can't find any. It should be pickable in any watery area.

Oh yes I remember her. She was so sweet. When I play tonight I'll make sure to go see her. As for the plants I am dumbfounded I can't find any at all.

There were entire riverbeds of the stuff in White Orchard. You needed it for the…griffin…I think? I didn’t think it spawned only for that quest, though. The location for it was just out from the settlement with the old lady and her pot ‘quest’, I think… It looks like another Witcher got there before me. There are no more on the riverbeds. But yeah, in the beginning of the game you need it to lure the Griffin out. Now I need it to make a Killer Whale potion. Too bad Radovid had the best alchemist Kalkstein executed. He definitely would have had some.

I checked with him he had none. I've been to four herbalists and none had it. The best one was Kalkstein and that dimwit Radovid had him executed.

The song foreshadows what Gaunter O'Dimm is all about. Four children sing it at the side of the road. Ah, that’s right. There’s just so much content in all sections of this game, some of it gets lost to the mist of time. I couldn't remember it but I found a video of it:

Hmm, maybe reload an early save from White Orchard to see where you picked the buckthorn for the griffin, then reload your current save and go back to the same place to see what's there?

I have no save that goes that far back to the beginning of the game. But it's no problem I'll just leave the quest unfinished, and when I replay maybe I can finally complete it.

Hol' up.
Buckthorn is available at the bottom of almost all rivers and seas. You have to dive, and then it is helpful to use Witcher sense to see the herbs on the seafloor.
You can find Buckthorn on the bottom of the sea in White Orchard, Velen, Skellige and Kaer Morhen. Killer Whale is helpful here.
ETA - didn't mean to come off like a boss! Had to find buckthorn for some crafting, and just dived for it in Skellige.
Went swimming for a treasure quest after returning to Velen, also harvested buckthorn because it was there and I had shot all the Drowners and had plenty of breathe left. Now doing Kaer Morhen, sames. Obviously you need it for White Orchard.

dazk That video you posted helped a lot. There were some buckthorn in the sea. My game must be glitchy because last night I spent a long time looking for the ingredient. I was able to complete 'The Path of the Warriors' questline. In other news decided to finally tackle the 'Final Preparations' quest. First went to see Yennefer, she was supposed to meet a man who broke out of the prison the Witch Hunters had 2 sorceresses in. When the man entered the inn he ran out when Geralt and Yennefer confronted him. Of course Geralt had to go after him while Yennefer used her fancy portal. They both caught up with the fugitive and questioned him and after he told them what they wanted to know they let him go. Geralt and Yennefer came up with 2 possible plans. One, was to get Zoltan to deliver a huge cartload of Mahakam beer. Plan number two was to go through the same route the fugitive used to escape. Geralt goes to Zoltan for help, and Zoltan says he can't he said now that the witch hunters are killing nonhumans it's not safe for them. So Geralt and Yennefer went to plan two. Geralt was to jump in a well near the prison the go through the sewer until he reaches the sorceresses. Geralt finds the sorceress Yen was looking for Margarita, but she was not alone her cellmate was a badly beaten and tortured Sile del something. We last saw her teleport out of Luc Muinne in TW2. She also helped Geralt with the Kayran monster. Margarita told Geralt that the key to her cell was in the possession of the Warden. So Geralt makes his way to the courtyard where he easily takes down the guards and kills the Warden. Geralt grabs the key and opens the cell to Margarita and Sile's cell. Yennefer then portals in to rescue both but Sile has been broken physically and emotionally, so Geralt offered to end her suffering. They all said their goodbyes and Yen portaled herself and Margarita back to Dandelion theater. Geralt of course had to walk all the way back. Back at Dandelion's theater he talks to Triss. She says they need to get the help of Phillipa Eilhart who we last saw in TW2. Both Triss and Geralt found out where she was being held. She was at Djykstra's bathhouse. They go to the bathhouse and it is being attacked from within. Apparently Phillipa had gotten free and was wreaking havoc on the bathhouse. Geralt chose to go find her while Triss stayed behind. Geralt killed a few guards under Phillipa's control. Geralt makes his through the bathhouse and runs into Bart. I was like "Nooo Bart!" He was under Phillipa's spell but luckily he was easy to manipulate. Geralt takes no pleasure in killing sentient trolls. Once he talked his way out he captured Phillipa. Triss and Geralt told her their plan and she agreed to help. Djykstra objected but Geralt convinced him to let her go. Djykstra told Geralt to come meet him at a private location where Vernon Roche and Thaler were also. I don't know how Thaler made it this far I can swear I saw him get killed by Knights in TW1. Geralt goes to the location and is told the plan. He is to lure out the King with the promise that he knew where Phillipa Eilhart was. Geralt wanting to avoid politics but after seeing how insane and irrational the king has become he agreed. Outside he is confronted by Phillipa who tells him their plan won't work if he does not give the King his father's ring. He goes to the royal barge and tells the King he found Phillipa and presented him the ring as proof. The King agreed to follow Geralt along with his men. When they make it to the spot he orders his men to kill Geralt. The King's men are ambushed Vernon Roche and his men. The King tries to flee but is blinded and killed by Phillipa. Now with the King dead the three conspirators decide what to do with their country. Vernon and Thaler want peace and offer the restof the Northern Lands except Temeria to the Emperor. Djykstra objects and wants to continue the war and not give up any land. Having to make a choice Geralt decided to side with Vernon and Thaler, and together they butchered Djykstra and his men. Vernon and Thaler thanked Geralt.

Just completed the main quest. Before I started the game I had heard there were multiple endings. I think I got one of the good ones. The fight with Eredin was epic. I almost died but in the end Geralt won. I know I've said this before but Ciri is basically god mode. She cut through those hulking knights with ease. The fight with the mage was a bit of a challenge but Ciri is so OP that she won. When Ciri went to the future I assume like the Grand Master did in the first game. I thought she was gone for sure.
But two weeks passed and Geralt was at the Imperial palace. He tells the Emperor that Ciri was died two weeks earlier. Geralt goes and gets a new sword from a swordsmith. I told to engrave the name Zirael in memory of Ciri. Geralt heads to an inn helping the dwarves from the Isle of Mists. At the inn he meets Ciri and gives her the sword he got from the swordsmith. Ciri is now a Witcher. I know there's a thread on this forum about a new Witcher game. I wonder now will Geralt comeback? Or will it be a brand new story with Ciri as the main character?
I still have the two expansions to do. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Though I do have some pet peeves like many of the characters from the previous games were not present. Characters like Shani, Iorveth, Saskia, Prince Stennis, Aryan Lavalette, and Letho (With Letho I know it was my error, but the others there is no explanation.) I was happy to see familiar faces like Dandelion, Zoltan, Triss, Lambert, Eskel, and Vesemir and new faces like the beautiful Yennefer and many more like Dikstra. There were some parts that went over my head. Geralt met many people who knew him from his past, but that were not in the previous games.
Once I complete both expansions and finish all Witcher contracts, side quests, and collect all of the armor and weapons diagrams, and fully finish exploring the map. I will start a New Game+ while playing AC Black Flag and ME:A. I will continue posting my progress once I start the expansions. OH!!! I got the Wolf armor and weapons fully upgraded. Now I just need to fully upgrade the Bear, Griffin, and Cat armors. Anyway Geralt was a badass and a man's man. Oh one of my favorite parts is hearing the pleas from peasants about the Witcher contracts and Geralt telling them how they have to pay first.
Also I thought Witchers had no emotions? When Yennefer was breaking the curse on Uma. Lambert and Eskel objected. Eskel even tells Geralt that if Uma was Ciri how can he allow it. That she might be stripped of all emotion. I asked this because in this game he should a lot of emotion went it came to Ciri (who I know is like a daughter to him), Yennefer, Vesemir when he died, and Triss.
I'll keep you ladies and gents updated.

Although you may like New Game+ (many people do), but I don't. Although lots of things carry over, other things may not. It feels to me that the gains are not worth it. However, like I said, many may disagree with me. If you want to know more about this then click the link in the spoiler, after you played both HoS and B&W.

I am glad that you got the good ending in your first run. The decisions that lead up to that are sometimes vague, but to me they make sense. It shows that Geralt took good care of her. Congrats.

I'll keep you ladies and gents updated. This is my take on it. The Trial of the Grasses is pure torture. So I think that a strong dislike for that by witchers and others is universal and so that dislike doesn't have much to do with the lack of emotions. Also, the world may appear very strange when everyone has emotions, except you. That is a struggle by itself. About the other part: Has the sense of belonging, in some for or another, to do with emotion? I don't know. Also, witchers knew emotions before their conversion. That may have something to do with it. Example: Lambert tells Geralt about how he experienced that conversion and the time before that.

About the other part: Has the sense of belonging, in some for or another, to do with emotion? I don't know. Also, witchers knew emotions before their conversion. That may have something to do with it. Example: Lambert tells Geralt about how he experienced that conversion and the time before that. Also I forgot in the earlier games he did show lust and is lust not an emotion? As for Lambert didn't he hook up with the sorceress Keira? I know Yennefer mentions something happened to Keira after The Battle of Kaer Mohren, but I don't remember what it was.

Although you may like New Game+ (many people do), but I don't. Although lots of things carry over, other things may not. It feels to me that the gains are not worth it. However, like I said, many may disagree with me. I just dread the idea of looking for wolf armor all over again. But we'll see. I'll check your spoiler when I complete the two expansions like you recommended. I am glad that you got the good ending in your first run. The decisions that lead up to that are sometimes vague, but to me they make sense. It shows that Geralt took good care of her. Congrats. Oh yeah I treated her like any loving father. I'm just glad I did not need to bring her to the Emperor. However, those armors don't level up automatically. All armors will have legendary variants, but the crafting diagrams will be lost, so the hunt for armors start all over again in New Game+. Bringing Ciri to the emperor is not dangerous. The final ending depends on how you behave during that visit and on the decisions during the rest of the game. I think that as long as Keira doesn't have access to the notes from the tower, she and Lambert live happily ever after.

Bringing Ciri to the emperor is not dangerous. The final ending depends on how you behave during that visit and on the decisions during the rest of the game. Next time I'll try that though I'd prefer she remain free of any obligation to the throne and choose what she wants. I think that as long as Keira doesn't have access to the notes from the tower, she and Lambert live happily ever after. Yeah, when I spoke to Keira at the tower of the dead mage. I sent her to Kaer Mohren but not before I took the notes from her. Don't trust sorceresses no matter how good looking they are.

Okay I started the HoS expansion two nights ago, and I can't go too much into detail because I've forgotten some things, but here are the highlights. Went to Von Everac, he told Geralt about a monster that lived in the sewers of Oxenfurt. Geralt accepted the contract and left to go to Oxenfurt. Before he left he was stopped by a woman who was apart of Von Everac's crew. She told Geralt about her boyfriend who was murdered. She asked Geralt if he could go and kill those responsible. Geralt accepts and heads to her boyfriends last known location. He discovers the location of the murderers and finds out they were once Knights of the Flaming Rose. He kills them and investigates their camp and finds information about a fisstech drug ring, and a schematic written in Ofieri. He finds their main camp killing more fallen knights along the way, and kills their leader. Geralt heads to Oxenfurt and tells the woman who gave him the task.
Geralt decides to head to the sewers in Oxenfurt to kill the monster Von Everac told him about. Inside he finds an old familiar face Shani from the first game. She apparently came down to the sewers with some knights from the Redanian army, to hunt down the monster and for her to extract some of it's poison. Together she and Geralt go to find the monsters lair. Along the way he kills many drowners and finds the bodies of Shani's men. Eventually the find the monster's lair. Geralt tells Shani to leave once she has enough of the poison. He drinks a potion that gives him resistance to poison, and easily kills the monster (my Geralt is OP, not Ciri Op, but strong.) Before the creature dies it spews it's venom unto Geralt causing him great pain. Before he passes out he sees that the monster turned into a man. Then he hears voices and passes out.
He awakes aboard a Ofieri ship in a cell. He asks the man in the cell were was he. The man tells him they are aboard an Ofieri prison ship, and that Geralt was charged of regicide (this always happens to Geralt it seems.) Geralt tries to think of a way to escape, and is then approached by a mysterious man who says he helped him find Yennefer back in White Orchard. The man offers to free Geralt in exchange for a favor. With no other way out Geralt agrees. The man tells Geralt that once he escapes to meet him near some village I forgot, he leaves and the ship is soon flooded Geralt passes out, and when he awakens he is being brought to be executed on a beach. Before they can execute him he attacks and disarms one of the guards. He kills all of the guards and the mage. He heads to a Ofieri camp to ask about the mysterious schematic he found earlier. Their was a merchant that said that he was apart of a shipwreck and had to setup camp at their current location.
Geralt shows him the schematic and the merchant tells him he can translate it if Geralt finds the other four missing schematics. Geralt agrees before he leaves the merchant tells him he should speak to the runewright. Geralt does so and the runewright tells him about his craft and how he lost his tools to make great runes. Intrigued Geralt gives the man 5000 Crowns to buy tools the runewright needs. Geralt heads to the village to meet the mysterious man he encountered aboard the Ofieri prison ship. The man introduces himself as the Master of Mirrors, and tells Geralt how Von Everac set him up, and knew that the monster in the sewers of Oxenfurt was indeed the Ofieri Prince. He tells Geralt that Von Everac is no normal man, and that he was obligated to grant him 3 wishes, but he needed an emissary of sorts to grant the wishes. So he made a deal with Geralt. Geralt sensing that the Master of Mirrors was powerful he reluctantly agreed. He goes to the village where Von Everac and his men stay at.
The village is on fire and Geralt sees some of Von Everac's men about to execute a man. He asks them what the man has done and they say they were ordered to execute him. Geralt threatens them to let him go. Von Everac intervenes and he Geralt get into a duel. The fight was tough but Geralt eventually wins but not before cutting Von Everac's head off. He soon finds out that Von Everac is immortal and can't be killed. He and Geralt begin talking, and they are joined by the Master of Mirrors. The Master of Mirror tells Geralt the true story, and how it was Von Everac who placed the curse on the Prince. The Master of Mirrors (who from now on I will refer to as MoM), tells Von Everac that he recruited Geralt to help grant his wishes. The MoM leaves and Geralt begins to ask Von Everac questions about the story the MoM told, and about the wishes. Von Everac told him the first wish was to show his brother a good time, and the second wish to bring him a house, and the third wish would remain if Geralt succeeded with the other seemingly impossible wishes.
While Geralt leaves the village the MoM appears and tells him about some of the details Von Everac left out. Details like his brother was dead. Geralt said how was he supposed to show a spirit a good time? The MoM told him it for him to figure out and then gave him some of Von Everac's blood to perform a ritual to summon Vlodimir's spirit. Geralt heads to Oxenfurt and asks Shani about the ritual and if she knew anything about the Von Everac family. She says they were once a noble house that fell and that Vlodimir was entombed in the family crypt. She tells she will meet Geralt there. He heads to the mausoleum and goes inside. He finds the coffin and begins to perform the ritual. At first he is confronted by the other Von Everac family spirits, and after demanding why Geralt disturbed their rest. Geralt banishes them and Vlodimir's spirit appears. Geralt tells him why he summoned him and Vlodimir agrees but needs a body.
He possess Geralt and once again Geralt passes out. He is awakened by Shani, and immediately he tries to seduce her. She quickly notices that Geralt is acting weird and Vlodimir temporarily leaves Geralt's body so he can explain. Geralt explains the situation and she invites him to a wedding. Vlodimir agrees and throughout the evening until midnight he enjoys the revelry and constantly flirts with Shani. They speak to the MoM and he talks about how Vlodimir was a failure compared to his brother and how he really died. After the MoM leaves he apologizes to Shani, and then continues the revelry until midnight when he supposed to go back to his crypt. At first he says no and how he will never leave. The MoM appears and tells him to go back he forces Vlodimir out of Geralt and causes him great pain. Geralt tells him to stop and the MoM banishes Vlodimir.
The MoM tells him that Geralt has to go and tell Von Everac what happened. Oh yeah I forgot Vlodimir wrote a note to his brother in Geralt's blood. He told Geralt to give it to his brother. Geralt spent a romantic night with Shani, and in the morning headed to Von Everac. Geralt told him how he spoke to his brother and showed him a good time. Von Everac said it was impossible, so Geralt showed him the note. Pleased Von Everac told Geralt he still needed to grant the second wish. This is where I stopped playing.

Shani I am now the Champion of High Stakes. Did that suck. I have 2 cards remaining in Velen (no clue which, gotta decipher because I've done all Gwent quests), and 7 remaining from random people in the world, which I will also have to decipher. This has reached the end of Miraculous Guide's usefulness - I at least know that Skellige, Novigrad and Kaer Morhen are finished, but finding these last 9 cards will take elbow grease, yay. Congrats on a good main conclusion talyn82!

Congrats on a good main conclusion talyn82 ! Thanks! I only played Gwent once, and yesterday when I was playing the part with Vlodimir, he had to play Gwent with some Gnomes. I had to forfeit because I did not have enough cards. Still it worked out in the end Shani found it funny and that's all that matters.

Although you may like New Game+ (many people do), but I don't. Although lots of things carry over, other things may not. It feels to me that the gains are not worth it. However, like I said, many may disagree with me. If you want to know more about this then click the link in the spoiler, after you played both HoS and B&W. The reason I like NG+ is because you can play around with stuff you couldn't really do in your first playthrough. Like armor dyes, though I have a habit of forgetting to buy dye formula before importing. Haha. The other main thing I like is playing around with the Runewright, since he can be unlocked pretty quick, and also coin is a lot more prevalent. Its open to interpretation, but in my opinion Witcher's being emotionless is peasant talk that they've come to believe themselves. For sure they're all emotionally stunted because of there upbringing and the harsh world itself, I suppose they prefer to see themselves as emotionless as opposed to emotionally broken. Though that distinction provides little relief to there own individual struggle. Ciri is the reason Geralt is as well adjusted as he is. The Witcher Code probably isn't a thing either, its mostly just an excuse Geralt uses to avoid getting involved in things he wants no part of.

The Witcher's being emotionless stereotype is probably propaganda from organizations that despise them. Like The Order of Eternal Fire, and The Knights of the Flaming Rose.
