I forgot to mention before when Vernon Roche tells Geralt how he died and the circumstances, it reminded me of the story the innkeeper at Murky Waters told Geralt, of a Witcher who was with a Sorceress and he was slain by a commoner. In the flashback when Vernon is telling Geralt it shoes a man that looks like a peasant with a pitchfork. Was the innkeeper of the Murky Waters in the first game recounting Geralt's death?
Most likely. There are actually some books you can pick up in the first game that talk about Geralt's past. I could only imagine how he must have felt reading about his own story written by someone else, and wondering if that's really how it happened since he couldn't remember anything.
Did you do the party at Shani's with Dandelion and Zoltan? They talk about his past there also.
No, I did not know there was a party at Shani's with Dandelion and Zoltan.

No, I did not know there was a party at Shani's with Dandelion and Zoltan. I didn't think you could not do it, did you visit her at the old ladies house, you have to convince her to let you in.

I have always used the folders method without any drama but I think yesterday I put the folders in the Override folder and then they created there own Override folder on top of that so I just copied those files into the original override folder and deleted the other one. The other issue I had with some MODS is that they want the file/folder to go into DATA not the OVERRIDE folder and I had just assumed they went in the Override folder. Restarted the game and just loaded The Genie MOD and looted him for everything he had then saved then deleted The Genie MOD and that worked, now just installing all the other mods. Anyway will test soon when i start playing after loading all the MODS and see what happens. Since the Witcher 1 was created on the old Aurora Engine by BioWare, installing mods follows the same guidelines as any of the old BioWare games. Meaning most if not all of a mods files goes into the Override folder. Can you post a list of the mods you are using? You can either post it here or DM me. I'll message you tomorrow. I am levelling up but not getting any talent points to spend, I am wondering if it it's the Infinite Health Mod that's causing that? Might also be why the All Talents Mod didn't work.

Speaking of The Witcher, I just wanted to point out Thronebreaker is 70% off on GoG. I wouldn't play it until you've finished the trilogy, as it is a prequel standalone story that doesn't have much to do with Geralt, also TW3 is a good introduction to Gwent. I just play on easy so I can skip battles if I choose, I don't mind the card battles, but they can get a bit tiring by the end. The great think about Thronebreaker is the writing, adventuring through war torn lands leading your guerrilla army. I actually think Thronebreaker is the most faithful game to the books, as it takes a story that is only hinted at and greatly expands upon it. It still has some things that feel out of place to me, but they are minor. Anyway, in this regard it just benefits from largely being its own thing. I enjoy it as much as the main trilogy.

So after starting again today and again with a lot of messing with MODS with moderate success (pun intended ) I think I may just start again tomorrow. Got further into the game but not far enough to discourage me to start again. The latest issue is I seem to be levelling up but not getting talent points to spend or I am just not reading the Hero screen correctly. Can someone confirm if in the Screenshot the bar at the top (yellow/red oval shapes) represents intervals in a level (that is progress in Level one to two) or levels attained? I think it is the former. That it is progress to the next level is a good thing and may make me not start again. I am remembering why I have never modded TW1 before. Anyway I have a couple of MODS I have gotten to work and give me Orrens, some swords and Armour and some other things that make the game a bit easier but I think I am going to completely give up on some. Anyway today left Kaer Mohren after reviving Triss and testing the bed in her room. Then headed to the outskirts of Vizima watched a woman fall prey to Barghests (Devil Dogs), met Shani and Alvin who foretold the end of the world. Offended unintentionally a Dwarf. Beat the hell out some guys in Boxing but in particular Fat Fred, spoke to an Alchemist. Flattered a bar maid and then saved her from some Thugs and escorted her home protecting her from more Barghests and met her later in a Mill to enjoy some wine amongst other things. Guards nearby thought the moaning was Ghosts as the Mill is rumoured to be haunted. Talked to The Royal Hunter to trigger another quest. Can't believe how much I remember and how much I have forgotten. Funeral for poor Leo Triss grateful Spooky Alvin The always pretty Shani

dazk The all talents mod only works when you first level up. So you must have it installed from the start. Then when you got to the level up screen you will have all talents.

Meaning most if not all of a mods files goes into the Override folder. Can you post a list of the mods you are using? You can either post it here or DM me. This is incorrect. As the readme in each mod states, or if lacking is in the release post on Nexus, there are specific locations where the file(s) needs to go. Dumping it into override will not work for some files, because the game doesn't look for overrides for those things. It is what it is in the location where it is supposed to be. In this case, it has to go there and using override will result in a non-functional mod. This was also true of old BioWare games - I modded them a lot. Seems like dazk got it sorted though. Modding can be finicky. For example, in KotOR your textures could go in override, but your streamsounds need to go in streamsounds. Depending on the level of modding complexity, in the Aurora games it is better to avoid the override altogether and edit the module itself.

No, I did not know there was a party at Shani's with Dandelion and Zoltan.
Shani invites Dandelion and leaves it to Geralt to invite someone else. I picked Zoltan both times.

I invited Siegfried. Wanted to look him in the eye with disdain when I later cut his pompous head off. (ETA: this happened in my last run. Aard'd his ass, got the spinning home run swing and watched his head roll lolololol) melbella - dead HD? How dead ? Have you tried anything to rescue that data? I have had some success in the past, and more failure too. But it might be recoverable. Do you have access to a Linux computer? (gparted is better and free compared to most Windows utilities for this)

Dead enough I couldn't create an image of it but I was able to do a standard Windows backup before it showed the bsod. I haven't checked yet what files I actually have backed up, and I also haven't yet tried to access anything on the dead disk.

Having been nerding around PCs for a long time now, I have an enclosure for any size HD, even for old IDE drives. They are cheap, could use a hotswap dock as well which are also cheap. If you can get into it with windows through an enclosure, you'll be fine most likely. If not, gparted might be able to save some of it at least. From your response, doesn't seem like this process would be daunting for you. If you decide to try, be happy to share any insight I might have. Or just commiserate, I have lost precious precious things to the wheels of time.

Here's an interesting mod for the Witcher 1. If you're like me and collect Salamandra pins as trophies and are short on cash. You can now sell them to Leuvaarden. Here's the link: www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/955

So last night Geralt met up with Dandelion and Zoltan who were going to be hanged. Geralt was able to stop the execution. Went into the inn and spoke to Triss, Dandelion, Zoltan, and Vernon mainly about politics. Some villager came running in and said they were being attacked by a monster. Geralt and Triss went outside and there was another sorceress fighting the creature. The monster stops the attack and retreats underwater. Geralt and Triss speak to the sorceress. She says she's there to kill the monster and asks Geralt for his assistance which he agrees to. After that spent most of my time exploring Flotsam. I picked up a couple of contracts, and went in search of a bookseller. Bought the books and continued to explore. That's mainly what I did last night explore and loot whatever I can.

Nasty fight against that beastie, best be prepared to use Yrden and do the fight a few times learning what you need to do, I'd honestly read a walkthrough of it and I readily admit the last few times I played the game I used a MOD to not even do it. Flotsam such a nice town.

Anyone able to answer the question re the above screenshot and progression? If you mean the bar under Novitiate Witcher, I don't think in either of my playthroughs I even paid attention to it. Guessing its your progress till your next rank, at level 10 becoming 'Rising Witcher'. So levels 1 thru 9 or levels 10 through 19, etc.
