I am thinking of just installing the Genie MOD by itself and starting the game, using it and then uninstalling it and loading the other mods. Have you used The Genie MOD? Is that the mod that can give you 10,000 Oren's? If so I have not tried it since it was my first playthrough and I did not want to cheat. BUT!!! In my next playthrough I am going to cheat like hell. I downloaded the mod someone mentioned here that gives us all talents when you first level up. I'm going to consider that me New Game +.

I downloaded the one that gives you all points and it did not work but I think it was because I had to drink a potion while at level one and I didn't read that part I thought I just had to complete level one. A long time ago I played this game on all the difficulty settings, I am playing it purely for the story now and some challenge.

Got to play some Witcher 2 earlier today and wow what an introduction. First that introduction of the King on his ship and that massive Witcher who moves like a cat and killed everyone was awesome lol. I start the game in a dungeon were some prisoners are playing dice, after some abuse from the guards Vernon Roche walks in and asks to have Geralt unshackled. He asks Geralt about what happened on the day of the battle. The game opens up and Geralt is in bed (like always) with Triss (she looks much better in this game. So does Geralt.) Anyway a guard interrupts their romantic moments and says that the King wants to see Geralt. Apparently there's a battle going on. I step out of the tent and the game looks so much better than the first and the music is just as great as the first one. Geralt walks around the camp exploring and meets these three bandit looking men called Reavers. They speak to Geralt about their past working together and mention there newest recruit simply called Newboy. Apparently he has a stolen amulet that is supposedly magical and grants the wearer protection. Geralt checks the amulet and it is indeed magical but not in a good way. It brings danger according to what the Reavers say since they first stole it. They gave Geralt the amulet.
Explored some more eventually found the King who looks much better. Apparently the battle is against a former lover and securing his illegitimate offspring. They walk around the camp talking and eventually the battle starts. Everything goes well, but later on the really armored knights gave me trouble. Anyway we fight all the way to the temple, along the way we meet the Baroness son and Geralt convinces him to stand down. Geralt and the King meet up with Vernon Roche I think at this time Triss is with them. The make their way to the temple where the King's children are and are attacked by a dragon. They escape the dragons fire and make it to the temple. Inside they meet someone from Geralt's past he talks some trash to both Geralt and the King. Geralt punches him and is told where the children are. The children are with a priest. Geralt stands by the window while the King is reunited with his children. As the children leave and Foltest walks away the blind priest is actually the assassin that killed the other King. Geralt suspects something but this time he is too late and Foltest was slain. The assassin escapes and Geralt is arrested.
Satisfied with Geralt's story Vernon Roche leaves a key on the table for Geralt. Before leaving Vernon tells Geralt about the report of how he died. Apparently he was with another sorceress who's name I don't remember, and they both were killed defending nonhumans and recovered and their bodies. Geralt says he remembered that event but nothing else. Later on Geralt is shackled and he taunts a guard into a fight the guard walks in, Geralt frees himself and kills both guards. Now he makes his way out of the dungeon along the way he meets the Baroness son. Geralt escorts him to an oil room and opens a secret passage. He tells Geralt to go on that he will stay behind. Geralt leaves and down the hall hears an explosion. The baroness's son sacrificed himself. Outside he meets up with Newboy who's guard. He tells Geralt how grateful he is for his warning, and makes a distraction allowing Geralt to get on a ship with Vernon and Triss. On their voyage Geralt asks questions about his past and the mysterious sorceress he was with when he died. They make it to a forest and meet the leader of this unit of Scoia'tael called Iorveth, after some back and forth between he and Geralt. Iorveth orders his unit to attacked. Triss puts up a barrier which exhausts her, and they all make their way to Flotsam. This is where I stopped for now. Later tonight I'll play some more.

A long time ago I played this game on all the difficulty settings, I am playing it purely for the story now and some challenge. I'm the same way. Next time around I'm going to cheat though lol. Oh, so you like cheating, eh?
I just finished the v.01 of my combination patch for The Witcher 2. It combines three mods into one compatible mod. 316peti's Updated Version of Two Talents per Level, Dice Poker and Armwrestling fix, and Enhanced Mod Compilation (minimal version).
I documented the process, with screenshots, if anyone is interested. Tools used: RedTools, Notepad++, a website called DiffChecker (because I forgot how to do this myself )
Process:
1. Download mods. 2. Extract the dzip files common between mods 3. Look only for date changed - these modders are of varying skill. Some include entire directories for their mod that aren't necessary. Search by date changed, and anything not changed 3/5/2013 is a modded file. 4. Choose the file that has the most changes - this will be your base file. In this case, it was EMC Minimal, which makes sense as it is a mod compilation. 5. Drag and replace files that you know you want to replace things - in our case, dicepoker.ws, armwrestling.ws, and guimainmenu.ws 6. Unpack the base_scripts.dzip from your "base" file (from EMC Minimal in this case) with RedTools 7. Open the resulting base_scripts folder, find player.ws and open with Notepad++ 8. Unpack the base_scripts.dzip from your donor mod, open second player.ws in a second Notepad++ instance 9. Use DiffChecker to compare the two files, or be smarter than me
10. Cut&Paste the pertinent bits. Pay attention to basic C/C++ coding conventions ie: if it is a function, copy from the first line through the closing bracket. If not, it will not work, as this is an uncompiled script and it will be compiled, or fail to compile. This will break the game 11. Save new version of player.ws. 12. Pack newly modified base_scripts folder with RedTools 13. Place in game directory 14...
15. Profit?
So, I am at stage 14 now. I will happily share the new base_scripts.dzip if anyone wants to give it a whirl/ help me test. It is in easy and instant uninstall - before you put this in your game directory, just rename the current base_scripts.dzip to base_scripts.old or base_scripts.bak. Whatever you like. If mod sucks, delete my file, and remove the .old/.bak from your original file. It is 1.8kb
As for sharing, I will have to figure that out. I don't use Dropbox, and this isn't ready to upload to Nexus.
Anyways, that's my Witcher for the day so far.

The game has one of the best romance scenes I have watched/played in TW2 depending on your choice.

I would help but I am currently using the 'Extra Talents per Level' mod, which adds two extra talents, so that way I have three talents per level. The only other mod I'm using is a mod that gives Geralt his white hair. Because when I played the tutorial yesterday I noticed his hair was grey and this bugged me lol.

I forgot to mention before when Vernon Roche tells Geralt how he died and the circumstances, it reminded me of the story the innkeeper at Murky Waters told Geralt, of a Witcher who was with a Sorceress and he was slain by a commoner. In the flashback when Vernon is telling Geralt it shoes a man that looks like a peasant with a pitchfork.
Was the innkeeper of the Murky Waters in the first game recounting Geralt's death?

Hey I have a question is there any way to cap the FPS in the game? Mine is going nuts (250+ at times) even though I have FPS capped at 100 on my GPU which has worked in every other game I have since I have had it.

Absolutely, lots of foreshadowing and flat-out people talking to Geralt telling him his own story, with those same people oblivious to who they were talking to. Butcher of Blaviken mentioned by several NPCs in TW1. talyn82 - I think my dzip would replace yours fine, but only if you had the other two mods I am merging as well. Just a thought, but I understand you don't want to mess up a game in progress

Butcher of Blaviken mentioned by several NPCs in TW1. I don't remember the Butcher part, maybe they said it during one of my all nighters which would explain it. When I first finished Mass Effect 3 10 months ago it was 4am in the morning, and when that star child gives you a choice for an ending I only heard one. It wasn't until I read on these forums that there were in fact three endings, but since I was tired I only heard one lol.

Those words in a sentence were... Different utterances by different NPCs or NPCs in conversation with each other.
Do your next playthrough on easy, cheat like mad with the save editor, and smell the roses. Totally worth it
Because now that you've played it, you will only ever play it again for story. It is just not great from a gameplay perspective, but it does a lot of things well and is informative of where CDPR was going to go with their further projects.
The one lesson they have never learned is to release a game that isn't buggy as hell. They always fix them, but damned if they don't release things in a straight out broken fashion. This is why (amongst other, mhmm patience reaasons) I bought TW3 well after release. So worth it, really only ended up paying for the DLCs when it was all said and done, thanks to some reason I can't remember.
Witcher 2 is an improvement in almost every way. Worth replaying and not a painful masochistic thing to do. Witcher 3, you'll see. To me, it is an amazing experience marred by small things because nothing in our world is perfect. The volume of good content and well-implemented ideas is stunning and a lot of fun to try and see. Replay-ability high, but it is so big there will be gaps between runs just to digest and possibly recover haha.

Hey I have a question is there any way to cap the FPS in the game? Mine is going nuts (250+ at times) even though I have FPS capped at 100 on my GPU which has worked in every other game I have since I have had it. What graphics card are you using? If you are using Nvidia you should be able to set it in the Nvidia Control Panel. I have a GTX1070ti but I have already set the FPS in the control panel to 100max. that's why I don't understand why TW1 is hitting over 350+ at times. Hey another question I just got everything I want from the Genie and uninstalled that but started to install the other mods I wanted using the Witcher Overhaul MOD then was going to do the Item Stacking MOD but it says never to have MOD folders in your override folder yet I have always done that. Does this mean when it installs the folders I need to copy all the files in the folders it installs to the Override folder instead of in the folders the mod itself installed?

You set that as max in your Nvidia Control Panel? Nvdia Control Panel>3D Settings>Manage 3D Settings>Program Settings>The Witcher (witcher.exe) ?
I don't have an option to set max FPS there (edit: I lied. I do. Derp.) but I do have an option to turn on V-Sync, which will result in some other issues but will lock your FPS at 60. It is a prerequisite for a couple of the graphical mods I think, because hair is fun.
Edit: I don't use the option to set max FPS. Perhaps try V-Sync On and see if that is preferable to setting Max FPS manually.
Edit 2: Regarding the rest of your question (sorry reading is hard sometimes!), you should generally only have to dump files into the existing game folders. However, that "existing" game folder may not exist, in which case you can just dump the entire mod folder in there if it is the proper name (usually is, "items" is a common one).
Cannot stress enough, read the install instructions and if there is a readme, readme.

Thanks I thought I had set a global setting to 100FPS but hadn't I also thought V-Synch was on in 3D settings but it wasn't but nearly always turn it on in game which I had for TW1. Thanks re the MOD Folder info.

350fps…? Now I’m tempted to install TW1 and see what my 2080ti can crank out.

Does that mean the Grand Master is Alvin from the future? Because we don't see him anymore only briefly. He is currently MIA. Yeah, Jacques de Aldersberg is Alvin. He could travel back and forth in time. His plan was to use the Witcher knowledge he had Salamandra steal to make uber men, that could survive the coming Ice Age (White Frost). Not sure what his plan was for procreation, I guess his plan didn't get that far. Don't worry, Geralt's relationship with the next time traveler he meets goes a lot better. Or does it??? Haha. Anyone aware of a MOD that gives you Gold/Orrens, I'd rather not have to worry about collecting and selling stuff and is there one that increases your inventory? Easier Dice Poker Higher Bets Optional FIXEDThis is what I used the last time I played to make loads of coin.

Cheers I got the Genie MOD working before I installed any other Mods then deleted it and installed my other MODS. Got everything the Genie had to offer including 10,000 Orrens.

Hey another question I just got everything I want from the Genie and uninstalled that but started to install the other mods I wanted using the Witcher Overhaul MOD then was going to do the Item Stacking MOD but it says never to have MOD folders in your override folder yet I have always done that. I looked at my Override folder and there are no folders in there. Just extract the files into Override without the folders. I have always used the folders method without any drama but I think yesterday I put the folders in the Override folder and then they created there own Override folder on top of that so I just copied those files into the original override folder and deleted the other one. The other issue I had with some MODS is that they want the file/folder to go into DATA not the OVERRIDE folder and I had just assumed they went in the Override folder. Restarted the game and just loaded The Genie MOD and looted him for everything he had then saved then deleted The Genie MOD and that worked, now just installing all the other mods. Anyway will test soon when i start playing after loading all the MODS and see what happens.

Since the Witcher 1 was created on the old Aurora Engine by BioWare, installing mods follows the same guidelines as any of the old BioWare games. Meaning most if not all of a mods files goes into the Override folder. Can you post a list of the mods you are using? You can either post it here or DM me.

Most likely. There are actually some books you can pick up in the first game that talk about Geralt's past. I could only imagine how he must have felt reading about his own story written by someone else, and wondering if that's really how it happened since he couldn't remember anything.
Did you do the party at Shani's with Dandelion and Zoltan? They talk about his past there also.
