the original meaning might have been confused and muddled in translation? It's often misquoted and misunderstood. The original "Der Krieg ist eine bloße Fortsetzung der Politik mit anderen Mitteln" is usually translated as: "War is a mere continuation of policy by other means". What he meant, IMHO, is that war is merely one of the tools that a State has in it's toolbox, when it tries to achieve it's goals. The moment the war starts, the policy is broke This is true, and again, IMHO, a good explanation to my question, thank you.

My work laptop is encrypted, so I can fill the HDD with questionable material, no-one will ever see it. [Result: His hard drive broke, and he asked me to check if I could recover the files. Fun fact: large files, like videos, take a long time to recover, and the name of the file is on the screen all that time.]

Back in my school days, a friend of mine thought that if she put her finger in a pencil sharpener it would make her fingernail sharp... it didn't I suppose this doesn't count as words of non wisdom but acts of non wisdom instead . By the way, her finger didn't become sharp... it just bled. This caused the teacher to lock the pencil sharpener away to avoid any future incidents

I think I'll go into the deep end of the swimming pool even though I can't swim. That's what I did as a kid. The full story is that I had to go to a swimming school to learn to swim. I don't remember the schedule, but I think it was a couple of times per week, one or two hours, in the mornings. It was an unheated, outdoor "pool", in the sea, by the sea, seawater. A cheapo, wooden beach thing to provide swimmers with a place to compete. One cold morning, I think it might have been the third time, the teacher told us: "Okay, jump into the water". So I did, without floatation devices. During earlier, useless, freezing sessions of splashing forward, suspended by polystyrene thingys connected with webbing, I had always easily reached the bottom with my feet. We started and stopped in the same end. I even think the other end might have been closed off with a line. Anyway, the other end was where I jumped in. It must have been like 12 ft deep, and my momentum drove me almost down to the bottom. In the cloud of bubbles from my own splash, I saw a leg and a foot that I could reach. I pulled myself up, by the older, bigger boy, switched to another guy closer to the ladder, and surfaced right by the ladder. There was some commotion, some looked at me with surprise. But I just climbed the ladder and told the teacher I was freezing and wouldn't go back into the water today. He said okay. I never returned to the swimming school. My aunt taught me to swim, no floatation devices. It took her 5-10 minutes to have me swimming by myself, 30 minutes to swim well and confidently. And that was the end of that. Anyway: " I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. " - Hunter S. Thompson

"Just two more miles", said by someone who would later be known as, 'two-mile Ron' that managed to get a group of mostly women and children nearly lost at night on a hiking trip far more advanced than they should've been on.

Anyway: " I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. " - Hunter S. Thompson To be honest, I went through something slightly similar. When I was a kid, I went to the local swimming baths and I had one of those big floats that you can stand on. I thought it would be fun to ride the float in the deep end but because of my poor balance, it overturned. I couldn't swim at the point, so I was panicking as I sank to the bottom. The lifeguard was nowhere to be seen and a random lady had to fish me out. Decided to return the following week to learn how to swim just to avoid that happening again.

" Russia have the best weapons and military in the World, and will easily defeat Ukraine. "
" Russia makes the best tanks in the world. "
" Russia can take Poland in three days. "
( There has been an entire smorgasbord of declarations like that on Internet. The last months they've become somewhat more rare, ...for some reason. )

" Live every day like it's the last day of your life. " I think that's not too unwise unless you are going way overboard with it. The earth is a dangerous place, for many thousands of people today is going to be their last they and they have no idea. Maybe you are one of them. Maybe a more wise approach would be to live like its the last year of your life.

" War is the continuation of policy with other means. " - Carl von Clausewitz I would appreciate some insight as to why do you think he was wrong? Seems pretty unambiguous to me. War is a policy decision. It is part and parcel. Not sure why reading more of the work is necessary to understand this quote, although certainly there could be something to gain. People in power have goals, and war is one of the means at their disposal.
